Walcott pleased with Alexis and Bellerin combinations

Theo Walcott says that he’s happy he’s combining well with Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin, but has praised the team for allowing him to flourish this season.

The 27 year old was man of the match as the Gunners beat Basel 2-0 last night, and both his goals were created by the Chilean. He also worked well with the Spanish full-back, something which hasn’t always been the case, and he’s keen to keep this form going.

Asked about his connection with Sanchez, he said, “It’s getting a good sort of partnership there, but it’s not just that, the whole team seems to be clicking. Me and Hector have got a good relationship on that right-hand side, it’s quite a pacy right-hand side.

“That combination between me and Alexis, it’s boding well but it’s obviously still very early into the season, so hopefully we can all stay fit and it’s going to be a good run.

“The combinations between me and him are very positive at this moment in time. We seem to sort of know when we play off each other quite well. If he comes short, I go long and we’ve just got a good sort of combinations.

“The whole team has tended to play very well together, and when we lose the ball everyone tries to be first to get it back. That starts from Alexis at the top and he sets the pace for us all, and it seems to be clicking at this moment in time.”

Alexis has 5 goals and 5 assists to his name this season, while Walcott’s 5 goals are just reward for his improvement this season. Fingers crossed they keep it up.

Xhaka Demus, No Pliers

Our Plan B (Alexis as a wandering 9 with the team exploiting the space he vacates) looks better than our Plan A (Giroud as a fulcrum for the team to play off). After fantastic results away from home its great to see us play such scintillating football at home to get the Emirates rockin’.

Just in time for contract extension, TW flourishes! Perfect timing…

Tony g

I thought he’d not long signed a new deal?

FunGunner

I have to give you a thumbs up for your name alone…

Wengaboy

So excited about this team. Love how Walcott is playing it down to. Be humble and and play the way you can boys! We got this season by the toasties! COYG!

CB

Automatisms occurring all over the pitch.

How that happens when Wenger doesn’t do any coaching and just let’s the players get on with it is beyond me…..

Looking good at the moment, let’s hope injuries don’t happen and the players stay focussed.

Edu's Braces

Ok Theo, enough interviews, just keep kicking ass and taking names. Not to be a dick but I’m always wary of good Theo form followed by 80 interviews.

Lishman

Theo is English so whenever he is in form the media are going to interview him over any other player. It helps with the hype train for the national team.

Hamburg Gooner

Well, I for one hope that he will have to do a lot more interviews post match, as that should mean he is ´man of the match´ again …

SuchAnArse

Do you really really think players go all over media houses screaming interview me! Interview me!

Wenger's Smirk

Im surprised people think players always want to give interviews. It’s a part of the contract with the club and TV channels. Just like managers. They have to give interviews when told. I for one think TW has been really humble in his assessment of his and the team’s performance so far.

Guys let us continue to enjoy this fun

Matt

Great stuff on the pitch lately; let’s hope it lasts for the season. Players staying fit is key. Wish there were no intl. breaks until May!

Beowulf

Well done for a guy that has no football brain!

Sg_gooner

Somewhere inside me actually hope ox can thrive instead of walcott so we can have triple A front-line….

Ashburton

Awaiting the Alex-Alexis-AlexOx axis! If Wenger trusts Ox so much, there must be a good reason. Hope he makes that step forward this season!

PVS

tripple A?? You mean Tripple Alex front line

Ozil's Chewing Gum

Don’t think all the interviews are his fault, he’s very marketable and invariably when he plays well the Arsenal Press Machine wheels him out to get as much coverage as possible.

Keep it up tho Theo. Maybe one day you too will have a ball-shaped chewing gum dedicated to you 🙂

maish

I love arsenal;why lie

Fletcher

I think he needs to stay humble, stop talking to the media, I get the feeling he is being carried away.

Rom

Wallexin!

Nick nock

It’s sad that Per isn’t in the team when we are finally getting stronger. He’s been around on the worst days, he deserves these good moments too.

santori

There are partnerships forming on every part of the pitch. Mustafi has ‘surprisingly’ fitted in well. Another great Wenger panic buy.;) He allows Bellerin freedom to roam forward which in turn gives Walcott the ability to pinch in diagonally or join take up position in the box more frequently. Alexis has been finding Ozil telepathically with the German making runs into the box more often. Granit (another early panic buy) has settled very well and allows both Santi and Iwobi the option to push further in support of Ozil. In effect, we can deploy 3 in midfield ahead of the… Read more »

Nailed it ! :-))

Hi-brid

Loving Theo’s current work rate and form, but kind of wish he would talk less when interviewed. He seems to just want to use up as many words as he can think of in answer to the simplest question and every sentence goes on for about 5 minutes. Rambling Theo.
