Wenger’s post-game comments to Premier League TV

Arsene Wenger spoke to the Premier League’s TV reporters after the 3-2 win over Swansea this afternoon, here is what he said.

On the game overall

Well, I went through all the emotions because we were 2-0 up, from nowhere 2-1, then 3-1 up, then suddenly 3-2, suddenly down to ten men and you think what looked like a very promising afternoon could become a nightmare.

In the end I felt our solidarity and spirit got us through and over the line, but it was a lot harder than it could have been.

On Swansea chances making him uncomfortable

I was! They had some headers. We were a bit lucky.

Walcott not getting the hat-trick

He had the chances, but overall what’s good is that he scored. Mesut scored as well, we need goals from Sanchez, Ozil and Walcott, and the positive thing is that he scored two goals.

On Xhaka’s sending off

In front of me it looked harsh but the referee made the decision and we had to get on with it.

On six wins in a row in the Premier League

Its good momentum. What’s good is that we win the games, but in the dressing room we feel like we can go up another level. I felt that sometimes we went a bit too easy in some situations, and that’s what we want to correct.

Of course keep our focus, and to strengthen our maturity in the game.

Jon Moss should not be allowed near a football field

71

I disagree, we have an excellent record with him though 13 victories out of 15 games or so according to the commentary on Arsenal.com. True the red was very harsh, but at least he generally doesn’t seem to cost us unlike some other refs..

He should go back to playing drums for Culture Club.

SB

Same points as the run away leaders and odds on favourites according to some. Not bad for an old man, some pundits and hacks thinks should retire.

Albioff

Kate Moss would have done a better job

Cagooner

Is that what Kanye meant when he said “you could be my black Kate Moss tonight”?

Kanye

No

Frankie boy

Jon moss is the football equivalent of an anal prolapse in my last pair of clean white pants 2 minutes in to date night……

VT

I can’t decide who I hate more, Mike Dean or Jon Moss… and then I realize there’s always Mourinho and John Terry

Gunnerjoe

With does kind of issues I’d wear brown pants

PGunner

Well said boss. Good win, still improving.

Ramsey's spirit

What are the consequences, if any, for ref’s bad calls in terms of punishment?

DontForget

It’s funny because I swear I was thinking “he’s letting all of these fouls go and at some point he’s going to make up for it with a red card.”

That’s really really harsh. Was it cynical? Sure. But it was never especially endangering or whatever clown language the FA use to describe a red card nowadays.

Walcott should have had four goals today. We still lack some ruthlessness. We were sloppy too. I think coq saved us 3 points as he’s proactive defending put them on the back foot.

As young as iwobi is its upto Wenger to see that their only threat was that winger and put proper tactics.

Relieved at 3 points.

We played 10 against 12 for 24 minutes and still managed to win. I think it’s written in the stars…

The Only Olivier is Giroud

This now makes Southampton, Burnley and Swansea where we probably would have dropped points before but yet this season we are 9/9. Hoping we pitch against the rest of the top 6 !

Dawn

And Oli and Rambo still to come back!

Benriz

Feels like a very big 3 points! Walcott really unlucky not to get a his hattrick to be fair. I know the miss from 6 yards was bad but that shot hitting the post took the piss!

Everytime they got a corner of FK I was having a mini heart attack.

My second son was born early this morning, and Arsenal won (also necessary to mention that City and Tots did not). I don’t think it was a consequence. Also happy birthday to Ozil! What a great gamewinner!

Arigoon

Congrats!

AnonymousGun

Sharing a birthday with a legend!

Interviewer sounds like he is tired from sucking something… Show more respect to Wenger, I.e.

MoGranitCoq

If only we had listened to the mob, booted out Wenger and sold Walcott…we wouldn’t be wallowing at the top playing some really good looking football! COYG

yaya sanogo's wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube legs

Anyone see the BT ‘Premier League Tonight’ show this eve? Not a single mention of the Arsenal game. Every other team had a talking point and a fan video (particularly focusing on the Utd Liverpool game on Monday) and not a single word on us. Fucking bizarre.

AKB(Not the one your thinking of)

I like that, all the pressure on Pep and Klopp, while we fly under the radar and knick the league from under their noses, like City did a couple years ago…..no pressure

Mate, the BT sport chief wotsit is a Spud I’m certain. Check all BT Sport publicity, Spurs and Harry Kane’s mush all over it and Arsenal always displayed conceding goals/in the background.

Coq au Vin

Back flicks and rabonas with 20 mins left and only 2 goals up is playing with fire. We got burned… But not too bad.

Whats the Craic?

hey people, blaming the ref for an uncomfortable afternoon………bit like the ostriches in the sand

Mpls

Um, the ref was responsible for most of that discomfort. Never a red.

Are you seriously dissatisfied with the club right now?!

Frank Bascombe

People are blaming the ref because he created an uncomfortable afternoon.

James

We got easy schedule, so dont u worry about that red card ,Xhaka is a good lad he will be back stronger .

Xhakastic

Had been an arsenal for 35 years. Had a son today. Named him alexis
