Last week it was revealed that Dan Crowley’s loan to Oxford United had been terminated by the League One club. Despite the fact he’d played quite regularly, and scored three goals, it seems there were issues with his attitude.
Now, via our youth correspondent Jeorge Bird, comes news that the 19 year old has gone to Holland to have a trial with Go Ahead Eagles.
A successful showing and he could spend the rest of the season there. He’d be the fourth Arsenal youth prospect playing in the Netherlands this season.
Nigerian Kelechi Nwakali joined MVV Maastricht, which sees him playing in the second tier of Dutch football with fellow Arsenal man Stefan O’Connor.
Meanwhile, Tarifi Moore is currently on a season long loan with Utrecht. Let’s hope some time away in another country can help Crowley, regarded as one of the most talented young prospects at the club, get himself back on track.

Fair comments. Fact is though, this lad seems to have fucked it up twice now. That’s certainly verging on the careless, from his viewpoint. I’d be delighted if he turns it round, and doesn’t follow the Bentley route. As someone who was born with no talent in any area, I tend to look enviously on those who were blessed. And I find it annoying when they don’t realize how lucky they are, hence my rash comment on him being a cock. Time will tell.

This is a step in the right direction. At least the Dutch have a history of developing players. Regardless of where the team falls in the table, the Eredivisie is a better landing spot than anything in League One. This 19 year old kid has demonstrated quite a bit of constraint with bitter third-tier managers trashing him publicly. Players who aspire to the Premiership have to possess a borderline arrogance that probably doesn’t play well among League One lifers.
