Crowley heading for Holland after Oxford loan cut short

16

Last week it was revealed that Dan Crowley’s loan to Oxford United had been terminated by the League One club. Despite the fact he’d played quite regularly, and scored three goals, it seems there were issues with his attitude.

Now, via our youth correspondent Jeorge Bird, comes news that the 19 year old has gone to Holland to have a trial with Go Ahead Eagles.

A successful showing and he could spend the rest of the season there. He’d be the fourth Arsenal youth prospect playing in the Netherlands this season.

Nigerian Kelechi Nwakali joined MVV Maastricht, which sees him playing in the second tier of Dutch football with fellow Arsenal man Stefan O’Connor.

Meanwhile, Tarifi Moore is currently on a season long loan with Utrecht. Let’s hope some time away in another country can help Crowley, regarded as one of the most talented young prospects at the club, get himself back on track.

Fun fact: Former Gunner Marc Overmars played for, and became a board member, of Go Ahead Eagles.

Send him to Charlton

I’m sure the notoriously placid and easy to get on with Dutch players will help sort out his potential attitude problems…

Lad’s clearly got talent… but at this level talent alone isn’t enough. Hope it doesn’t go to waste because of shitty attitude.

Maybe Wenger should pull him aside and have a word?

Fun fact 2:

Go Ahead Eagles’s original name when they were founded in 1902 was ‘Be Quick’.

No seriously.

Fun Fact: Devil worshipper, satanist and drinker of virgins blood Alastiar Crowley is Dan’s grandad!

Double98

Fun fact. In the extended copy of Ozzie Osbourne’s classic hit about Alaistair.. “Mr Crowley”, the prince of darkness foretold of a child that would come from the Crowley line and play football and piss people off in equal measure.

Did you know you can’t spell Crowley with out crow. Brandon lee died during the making of the crow. Lee Dixon played for Arsenal.
It’s bloody obvious what is happening..

Despite being provided with talents most of us would give a left testicle to have, it seems the lad is a bit of a cock. Shame. Here’s hoping he gets a grip of himself, to avoid the grim fate of scoring only one memorable goal, and then ending up playing for Tottenham.

Double98

Not sure it’s fair to judge him without a fair hearing.

Anyway, Plenty of elite footballers were absolute cocks from the get go. Suarez, van persie, Ronaldo, ibrahimovic, anelka, Rooney.
For the player, you gotta be able to back up the ego with the talent, for the manager You gotta be able to manage the ego and the talent. It strikes me that a lower league manager is not best equipped to manage a precocious teenager. And Crowley was performing on or above expectation.

Go ahead eagles is a step up for the lad and maybe the natural predisposition of the usually over confident Dutch lads will help shape him.

Fair comments. Fact is though, this lad seems to have fucked it up twice now. That’s certainly verging on the careless, from his viewpoint. I’d be delighted if he turns it round, and doesn’t follow the Bentley route. As someone who was born with no talent in any area, I tend to look enviously on those who were blessed. And I find it annoying when they don’t realize how lucky they are, hence my rash comment on him being a cock. Time will tell.

what exactly is the issue with his attitude. I have honestly not seen any detail of this issue (s) anywhere . Anyone know?

This is a step in the right direction. At least the Dutch have a history of developing players. Regardless of where the team falls in the table, the Eredivisie is a better landing spot than anything in League One. This 19 year old kid has demonstrated quite a bit of constraint with bitter third-tier managers trashing him publicly. Players who aspire to the Premiership have to possess a borderline arrogance that probably doesn’t play well among League One lifers.
