Alexis is sad … but happy

Alexis Sanchez was sad yesterday when he was taken off during the 4-0 win over Swansea, in which he scored his 15th goal of the season.

Just look at him. So sad.

But afterwards, he was happy. So happy.

“Happy for our victory and for our team,” he said, via the medium of Instagram.

Feliz por el triunfo y por el equipo .. ????⚽️. Happy for our victory and for our team …

There you have it. It’s almost as if emotions can change over short periods of time, or something. It’s remarkable.

I’m only happy when it rains…

andres

Under the April Skies (i’ll take my coat)

pedro

What pissed me off about this was that it looked more like an attention seeking tantrum than a proper temper tantrum. To do that to Welbeck was a total dick move.

Love Alexis but lost a bit of respect for the guy yesterday.

pedro

And while I’m accruing thumbs down it should be pointed out that it’s entirely likely that Alexis has little to do with the management of his social media accounts. Chances are his team realised he was a bit ‘OTT’ so put out an ‘everything is fine’ post.

Igbo Amadi-Obi

Absolutely

Gooooooooooooooooona

Guys you have to understand the media has blown it all out of proportion. Against west brom he was freaking out at the end at the referee, not his teammates. Bournemouth wasted so much time in extra time, and we deserved at least an additional minute when the stupid referee blew three seconds before time was done. The guy is so competitive and from all his interviews and off the pitch stuff I see from him, everything tells me that he’s a team player, that is supportive and respectful towards his teammates. This Arsenal team really is a tight nit… Read more »

First paragraph I meant to say against Bournemouth ****

Igbo Amadi-Obi

@ why should you sign a long term contract when you dont know who your next manager would be? Is that criticism for Koscielny, Giroud and Coquelin? Or are you so defensive of Ozil that you don’t mind the implications of what you say? How about Wenger gets a contract extension, Ozil signs and Wenger gets fired or dies next season? How about Costa asking to leave despite a contract till 2020.

Why not

Maybe for the french trio, they are just happy to be at arsenal and that is enough for their long term wishes. Maybe others are just more specific or in some cases a bit excessive.

Gooooooooooooooooona

I don’t think it has any reflection on the other three, I’m just saying I understand them wanting to wait until there’s more clarity about the managerial situation. At the end of the day they came to Arsenal because of Arsene Wenger, it’s not like they have any affiliation with English culture or Arsenal’s history. The only loyal ones today are the fans. This is the direction football is taking. The board isn’t loyal to the manager, manager isn’t loyal to players and players aren’t loyal to their teams. It’s money and trophies. If Arsenal were to drop out of… Read more »

Gooooooooooooooooona

Paragraph two I’m talking about football in general and not Arsenal in particular. I think we all know how loyal the board is to our manager and players, and vice versa.

Dan Gunn

I think you would struggle with the 140 character limit on twitter! ?

Igbo Amadi-Obi

I do not think it is professional for players to subtly blackmail a club over its choice of manager. Imagine that it could have been Ozil’s wish for Wenger not to get his contract extended. Would you have sided with him?

podb

*tight nit group … tight-knit as in knitted together. Nits are icky bugs which live in Costa’s beard and John Terry’s girlfriend’s well-worn pussy.

Jack p

I know it’s because he wants to play but knowing our luck wenger would have left him on and the 92nd minute double leg break fractured spine injury or something ?

Goon

Sad Alexis Bad Alexis
Happy Alexis Good Alexis
Woof Wooof Wooof

goonero

Or, just to play devils advocate, it’s almost as if Alexis has sensible PR people who don’t want to weaken their clients negotiations with the club.

Marje

I have to navigate five adverts to get to these eight short sentences on my mobile. It’s getting out of hand, Blogs.

Arsene McLovin

I am sad I didn’t eat a burger for dinner. But I am happy I had pizza! =D have at that what you will

Gooneron

Feels like Sanchez turns to be Alonso Harris (Training Day) everytime he gets subbed.

Cliff Bastin

But he (or his PR team) ended the caption with the dreaded “…”

THE WORLD IS ENDING

Gooooooooooooooooona

You actually have me worrying about those “…” now. WHAT DOES IT MEAN, AND WHYYYY?????

the old chap

Why people lost respect to alexis ?
he is simply wants to play , and being subbed at the time when he could score more goals becos swansea is so shit is make him more sad .
Cut every nonsense about teamwork , attitude . If i am a striker i would be angry being subbed when your oposition is so shit and i can bang 3 or 4 goal

pedro

He had 80 minutes to bang in three or four goals and got the shits on because he had to let a guy who hasn’t played in ages (through no fault of his own either) have a 10 minute run with the game already over.

James's giant peaches

Well he didn’t score 3 or 4 in the first 80 minutes why would he in the last 10. Also it looked like a staged tantrum from a 3 yr old not a grown man.

Gooooooooooooooooona

That was my impression. A lot of times when we have the lead late on it the game, you see the team wants to drop back and absorb the pressure while Alexis is high pressing and freaking out at everyone to join him. I feel certain that Alexis has the utmost respect for Wenger and his teammates. He’s not one of those liverpoool clowns that yell at each other the whole game like a bunch of idiots just to impress their fans. There’s nothing fake about this guy, when he yells it’s simply because he’s a ridiculously passionate guy that… Read more »

So if Arsenal give him the league title, the least we can do is give him a couple of puppies. Or get Emmi Martinez to allow Alexis to breed their dogs.

And I heard somewhere that some Arsenal fans are planning on making a banner with Humber and Atom on it (his dogs). I think that’s absolutely brilliant and hilarious. If funding is an issue you guys should post a link somewhere where Arsenal fans can donate. Who knows, maybe we might raise enough money to sign a “World Class Striker” ??

vino

I have a feeling he was disappointed mainly because he knew the game was won and he thought there was a goal or two more for him in it. Suspect had he scored 2 or 3 of the goals he’d have been happier to come off.

That’s what you want, players desperate to get goals and get their numbers up. You can look the reaction after his goal- it’s like he’d been waiting the whole game and he was angrily happy about getting it. Dare I compare it to a certain Portugese twat’s attitude, but there’s benefit to it.

James's giant peaches

Hmmm the Portuguese guy is a twat but it’s ok for Sanchez?

Heavenly Chapecoense

I have said same thing as you many times before but this is getting too much now. Players should be happy for teammates who have been out for almost two years to come on no matter what.

Conchetumadre

I’m pretty sure by looking at AS7 when he was taken out, clearly not mad at Welbeck but at AW. Don’t mix things up.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Shouldn’t be mad at Wenger for bring Welbeck in.

AGunner

Love Alexis but the guy needs an attitude adjustment. His approach to things on the pitch is brilliant, but off the pitch he needs to grow up a bit. We were 4 goals up, yeah he could’ve got a couple more, but how long before a Swansea player gets frustrated and takes him out with a rash challenge? Wonder how his contract negotiations would go whilst being injured for 6 months? Just feels like he’s a bit naive tbh.

Dan Hunter

Where’s John Cena when you need him???

emmanuel ndiokwere

At 0:4 the game was won, so a few minutes to the end of the match the coach decided to give other forward players some game time: welbeck and Perez. what’s wrong with that? the coach manages this team and Alexis has to accept that. coach can make changes when he deems it necessary. let’s not go over the same issue over and over.

Walcott's left footed curl

I think some of the fans are trying to play down his tantrums a bit too much. Even though he’s always been angry when being subbed, it has usually been an instinctive reaction, but this seemed like something else. His initial reaction was pretty low key, but the looking down on the pitch, covering his eyes and then refusing to sit with the rest of the players on the bench? I view that not as a gut reaction, but as a protest.

John Bosco Nuwagaba

Well done Arsenal team but let us do what has been done to Swansea be applied onto all the top 6 teams and see if we can’t win it come April.
Sanchez should stop stop being too emotional and over selfish to his teammates who also need playing time.
Go go we go forward as Gunners!

Heavenly Chapecoense

Arsenal achieved top four after Henry, RVP and Fabregas left. Sanchez hasn’t won anything for us yet so nothing will change if he goes to China to be able to feed his family and his dogs.

Luke

Or feed his family THE dogs he may embrace the culture

Arsensarmy

Your a complete and utter douchbag. What a lack of respect for others and most obviously yourself.

ForeignGooner

Some Arsenal fans have such short memories it’s astonishing. So the 2015 FA cup doesn’t count as a trophy? Alexis won that for us with his goals against Reading and Aston Villa. The same number of trophies that RVP and Fabregas managed to win with Arsenal; And I don’t know what to say if you really think Alexis is the sort of player that would go to China.

Conchetumadre

That’s a pretty fucked up comment. Totally uncalled for

Colorado Arse

watching the video as he comes off, I don’t see anything especially pronounced or dramatic about his reaction; he is clearly not elated, but nor is he overtly angry, disgusted, but at most a bit frustrated. He greets Welbeck nicely and goes to the bench — all which was fine. What happened on the bench was perhaps a more overt form of pouting, but was nothing too extreme either. Not ideal, perhaps, but much more being made of this than it really merits probably because it just feeds the lazy media narrative of “will he won’t he; is he happy… Read more »

Andrés

Alexis was mad because he was benched when he is 1 goal to be top league scorer, and there was an excellent oopportunityportunity to achieve more goals. Nothing related to Wekbeck, contrat, etc.

Cape Town Gooner

Part of me says grow up! But part of me wish others to adopt his attitude.

Andrés

He drops his gloves again. I hope ecologists don’t star complaining

Da Oli G Show

That was a “tantrum,” eh? He frowned a bit, exhaled and puffed out his cheeks for a second, walked slowly to the sidelines, slapped hands with Welbeck, and then strolled to the bench. What outrageous behavior! I must go to Twitter and call him names. Disgraceful! THIS IS A CRISIS! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!

Benkamp

Agreed. Ive seen footballers tantrums, that wasnt one of them. The bit with the coat over his head was new to me… but he could have been literally crying under there or just been hiding his emotions because he wanted to kick the sphere some more. Great player, always great attitude, always applauded for his attitude, gutted to come off, hid under a coat to chill out. Give him a break hahaha. Perhaps he was embarrased at getting subbed and felt like the whole world was staring at him. Maybe he just pulled it over his back and it fell… Read more »

Well said sir.

Frank Bascombe

Why?

brad

I cant get spun up about this. Alexis wants to play perfectly. But he wasn’t happy with his performance on the wing yesterday. He demands perfection from himself and he wasn’t getting it. He felt his performance wasn’t up to his own standards. If he had finished the match, he probably would have went straight to the tunnel. Alexis isn’t a primadonna like Cristiano, he is a team player. I think the first goal yesterday was from an expected assist to Ozil that was stopped if I remember right. I also remember a pretty decent assist for our former captain… Read more »

Love alexis cant understand why people are complaining ,he is a fighter ,nothing annoys me more when we get beat and some of our players smiling and shaking hands with players on opposite team ,never see alexis do that
