David Ospina linked with Ligue 1 return

Speculation over the future of David Ospina is like a summer tradition at this point. He’s usually linked to clubs in Turkey, although last year or the year before there were suggestions he might go to Everton.

This year is no different, and as talk of move to Fenerbahce dies down in the wake of Arsenal scuppering the deal by asking for a fee that’s in some way reflective of his talent, a new suitor has emerged.

France Football say that Nantes are interested in bringing the 28 year old keeper back to Ligue 1.

Ospina joined the Gunners from Nice in the summer of 2014 for a fee of around £4m, and the French outfit are preparing a bid reportedly in the region of €4m.

It would give the Colombian international the regular first team football he clearly wants at this point of his career, so it’s definitely one that makes sense – even if the fee is still a little light.

We’ll give this one a 4 (please note: plumbing issues mean reader poos are not being counted – we are working hard to clear the backlog).

Fine, he needs to move on.

Get Szcz back.

Maestro

Should move on the old Cech instead but then Arsene knows best……

Sidkid

Go for Joe Hart

TweakinGooner

The two above comments suggest we sell Cech and buy Joe Hart.. Let that sink in for a moment. We are all fans but clearly, some of us have certain.. thinking hindrances from time to time.

Hank Scorpio

Hopefully the beginning of a clear out of fringe players. Thanks for your contribution David. Time to move on

Le Jim

I want Szcz back, but 4 million for a guy who would walk into most top-half teams of the big five leagues is just ridiculous.

Kwame Ampadu Down

Would he though? I certainly don’t see many clubs in the Premier league where he’d walk into the team….if he would, wouldn’t they all be in for him as the bargain you think he is ? I think he’s decent but the price & a mid table Ligue 1 team seems about right to me to be honest.

Badaab

He would be an upgrade for any team in the bottom 10 of the PL, and about half the top ten.
After his performances in the FA Cup and some of his cl work for us, as well as his international career with Colombia, I don’t see how we couldn’t get at least twice what we paid for an international keeper in the prime years of his career.

A quick glance at last season’s table & bottom 10 : Schmeichel, Butland, Pickford are all clearly better than Ospina. I think I’d prefer Fabianski over him too though not much in it to be fair.

As for half of top 10….no chance. As I said before, if he was that good there would be a queue of big clubs. There isn’t. Cos he isn’t. As for the fee, maybe we should get more in the current market but if the demand isn’t there then just take what we can get & get him off the wage bill.

TweakinGooner

Fix the logjam already. I need to doodoo this.

Rogerbij

Im only in favour of this if we get Szcz back, otherwise there is a risk Im not comfortable with.

David Hillier\'s luggage

Whoever gets him is getting an absolute bargain.

Bosscielny

So a relegated Sunderland sell their 22 year old keeper for 30 million and we are selling our Colombian international keeper who has performed in some of the biggest competitions like World Cup, Copa America, CL etc for 4 million

I’m curious is Dick Law a spurs fan?
