Official: Akpom joins Belgian side on loan

Arsenal have confirmed that Chuba Akpom will spend the rest of the season on loan with Belgian side Sint-Truidense.

The striker, 22, has made two appearances for the Gunners this season but appears to have fallen behind Eddie Nketiah in Arsene Wenger’s attacking pecking order.

The move to Belgium represents his sixth loan deal in five years; he’s already spent time at Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton. He apparently turned down interest from the Championship to cross the Channel.

“I am very pleased that I can finish the season at STVV and I want to contribute to a strong end of the season”, Akpom told his new club’s official website.

Best of luck to you Chuba.

Risk of reopening the Belgian dictionary controversy. Brave post.

Hasn’t really had a chance. Harry Kane wasn’t prolific in numerous loans and look what happened when he was given a run in the first team. Not to say he’s at that level, just a comparison. Nketiah seems to have surpassed him in the pecking order. Still time but looks bleak for his Arsenal future

He starts a stint at Sint.

I just get mad seeing welbz running into blind alleys while we can test akpom or Nelson more and see what they can do. Welbz, Czech and Xhaka should be out next transfer window

Good luck Chuba.
I would have liked to see him get another Championship loan, but maybe a move to another country will do him some good. It might refocus his mind and help him suppress his petulant side.
