Report: Arsenal to end Nwakali’s loan early

The brother and agent of Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali has revealed that Arsenal are planning to bring the Nigeria youth international’s loan with Dutch side VVV Venlo to a premature end this January.

The 19-year-old midfielder moved to the Eredivisie outfit in the summer on a season-long deal but has struggled for minutes. He scored on his debut back in September but has been restricted to just 11 further appearances.

Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Allwell Nwakali revealed: “Arsenal decided to bring him out from VVV Venlo because the coach was busy playing the players that came from relegation with him leaving players like Kelechi and some other loan players on the bench.

“There’s a Real Madrid player (Mink Peeters) that is about to leave the way Kelechi is leaving.

”Arsenal never wanted him to be on the bench because they have their plans for him.”

His brother also revealed that Portuguese side Porto have shown an interest in taking the player in the second half of the season.

”FC Porto of Portugal are interested and even wanted an option to buy but they are discussing with Arsenal now. Arsenal are not interested for such opinion because they need Kelechi soon in the main team.”

Last season Nwakali was also in Holland with MVV Maastricht.

How do loans even work? Does the club approach other clubs or clubs approach us? Why would for example this club that KN is at want to have him there if they don’t have any intentions to use him? Why would ARsenal send him there in the first place? Just to get minutes? similar formations? they know the manager? It just seems odd that alot of recent loans just don’t work. EM down at Getefe, did he go down there to be 3rd goalie? is he 2nd? why hasn’t he played but I think 1 match? Dont clubs that pick… Read more »
