Arsene Wenger says Arsenal’s ‘positive history’ at Wembley stands them in good stead ahead of Saturday’s North London derby.
The Gunners head to the national stadium having won nine consecutive games at the venue and the boss thinks the quality of the pitch and the big crowd will help make it a special day.
Asked whether a trip to Wembley is more preferable than a trip up the Seven Sisters Road to White Hart Lane, Wenger explained:
“Yes, because we have a positive history there. Of course, Wembley is a pitch that is of quality and a stadium of a big crowd and it’s always a special day in your mind. Overall, yes.”
The boss denied that such a good record will be decisive but he hinted that familiarity with the surroundings should help his team deliver a performance.
“It [playing at Wembley] has a little bit of weight in it as we feel we have a good level of performances there. We will not feel too much away in that situation. Overall, I believe it will be down to the performance on the day.
On why his side have been on such a good run at the stadium, one that has taken in three FA Cup successes and two Community Shield wins, he added: “They were always very important games for us, vital games, so that is why the focus was there.
“Is that especially linked with the players? No, it is just linked with the fact that at Wembley you play special games where you are under pressure to perform and we responded well to it every time.”
Time to restore some pride and annihilate them. North London is red
Correction: London is red.
A classic 2-5 would do nicely. A blend of excitement, nerves and joy.
5pur2 is my favourite result, especially if they go two nil up.
1-0 will do for me .
0-5 will do for me! No need to give ’em 2.
Spurms anything, ARSENAL anything + 1 will do for me.
COYR. Just win and make them suffer.
First time in a long time going into a game confident that we can put in a great performance. Attacking wise that is
“Of course, Wembley is a pitch that is of quality and a stadium of a big crowd and it’s always a special day in your mind.”
Is that Wenger taking dig at Spuds’ WHL? Unlikely, but cheeky nonetheless.
I hope we make it 10 out of 10. COYG!
I predict a divenalty!
A 1-0 win, from a penalty which should not have been given after a Bellerin dive who whilst diving managed to get his studs caught in Dele Alli’s ear. So He could never hear from that ear again, and had to resort to male prostitution for money. But doesn’t make much considering he looks like a giant Pube. That would be a satisfying days work
GIANT PUBE!!!! LOL
A 0-1 win, from a penalty after a dive from Mertesacker, who was offside. Laca’s penalty hits the bar and then the line, the ball never goes in but goal is wrongly given by Mike Dean.
Very improbable. Since when does Mike Dean award us goals?
A very neat trick, especially since the referee is Anthony “Traitor to your federation” Taylor.
Deli Alley
You’ve got Deli Alley
I just don’t think you understand
He’s got more pubic hair
Than you’ve got silverware
You’ve got Deli Alley
The Ticket spare is basically the same as it would be at white hart lane, right?! Or more gooners gonna be there (in %)?!
I can’t wait for the boys to do the double over this lot in our second home. I am not greedy. 3-0 in our favour would suffice.
The Emirate-Wembley Stadium!
Ozil kicked one of the doors at White Hart Lane until they had to renovate everything.
London is RED! ? COYG!
Q: Will you have some bacon?
A: Overall, yes
