Arsenal beat West Ham 4-1 at the Emirates this afternoon, Aaron Ramsey scoring one and creating one for Alexandre Lacazette.
The Welsh international spoke to Sky Sports afterwards and this is what he had to say.
Right result, completely different second half. Why?
It took a bit of time to get going, it was very hot out there, I don’t want to make excuses but we weren’t quite at it. We stayed in the game, it was 0-0 and it was important to come out in the second half and put that right.
So, we’re delighted in the end to come away with a convincing win.
You’re now in the top 10 scorers under Arsene Wenger. Did you think that shot was going in?
No! I was glad he left it though, I’ll take that. I’m delighted on a personal note but more than we got the three points.
What have the last 48 hours been like?
Obviously it’s really tough to take. He’s believed in us, he’s given us all these opportunities over the years. Especially for me, he brought me here as a 17 year old and I owe him a lot.
But, he deserves everything he gets. All the plaudits and recognition for all the work he’s done here over the years, and hopefully we can finish off the season on a high for him.
Is there uncertainty now? Playing for your futures?
We’re not thinking about who’s coming in next, we’re thinking more about doing it for him now, and hopefully we can win every single game and finish off with a cup. That would be the perfect send off for him.
Get it signed Rambo!! And another goal to win a cup would be lovely…!
We need to sort out Ramsey and Welbz situations, and fast. I suspect the new manager that they just started searching for will have a say….
Whoever he is..
Amongst all the Wenger discussion today, another accolade has been achieved today and seemingly gone unnoticed; Southampton were knocked out of the FA Cup (thanks Ollie) and coupled with today’s win against West Ham (meaning Leicester can’t catch us) we’ve secured top 7 and a guaranteed place in Europe again next season.
So I just wanted add; Arsene Wenger has given Arsenal European football in every single season since he joined. Just take a moment to let that sink in. Thank you Arsene.
I love it when the arsenal family come together and pull in the same direction.looking forward to Thursday now. Coyg
The send-off was done in a true Arsenal way. Take a lead, give up the lead & win in a fashionable way, 4 or more goals againts a relegation threatened team.
I live him so much! I follow arsenal cos the football they played entertsined me so much and that is down to the great man. I shed many silent tears the last few days readibg stories of why they respected him so much. so much love for him
