Arsenal Women will begin their defence of the WSL title at home to West Ham United Women. The match will take place on Sunday, 8th September at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park at 2.30pm. The remainder of Arsenal’s WSL fixtures will be revealed on Wednesday, 10th July.
The match takes place during an international break for men’s football, so why not go down to Boreham Wood and watch the champions in action? If you’ve never been, I put together a short guide last season which you can read here.
The Gunners were 4-3 winners in this fixture last season thanks to a hat-trick from Dutch midfielder Danielle van de Donk. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but you can buy a membership for the Arsenal Women which grants you access to all of their home games. Otherwise, tickets will be £12 on the gate for adults and £6 for concessions.
The Gunners have a star studded pre-season line-up to prepare them for the new season:
Arsenal v Bayern Munich Frauen- 28th July, 12.30pm @ Emirates Stadium
Wolfsburg v Arsenal- 7th August, Walschee, Austria (behind closed doors)
Arsenal v Barcelona Femeni- 14th August, 7.30pm @ Meadow Park
Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur Women- Sunday, 25th August, 2pm @ Meadow Park.
We caught up with Arsenal forward Dan Carter at the kit launch at the Armoury today and that interview will go live later this week. We also have an article on Beth Mead’s evolution from out and out striker to wide forward at Arsenal.
We have to start somewhere. They gave us a tough game last season!
A good fixture to start the title defence.
A) It’s at home.
B) It’s not against Chelski or either Mank team.
