Report: Elneny set for Besiktas loan move

According to various reports, Mohamed Elneny will spend the upcoming season on loan at Besiktas.

Unai Emery has made it clear that he is happy for the Egypt international to leave the club and it looks as though we’re ready to sanction a temporary deal to get his wages off the books for 12 months or so.

The 27-year-old signed a contract extension at the tail-end of Arsene Wenger’s time at the Emirates but has been marginalised under the Spaniard. Last season, the midfielder featured just eight times in the Premier League.

Despite a lack of game time, Galatasaray, Bordeaux and Roma have all been tipped to make a move for the player in recent months.

The transfer window closes on Monday for Turkish clubs. It’s likely that the terms of the deal will be finalised with Besiktas after the weekend.

It’s possible that both Nacho Monreal and Shkodran Mustafi could also leave in the coming days.

Good lad though just not good enough for our first team.

Hope all goes well for him.

Dave M

Good luck Mo!

Evang. Simon

Decent footballer

Juicefresh

Go Mo, Go Mo, Don’t make Arsenal shout out D’oh….

Fatgooner

Nice guy; wrong club. Good luck for the future, Mo!

Richie

Besiktas is decent for him, but we should really be pushing for a sale. We may need that cash in January.

Sue

A loan???

kaius

Elneny’s contract extension might’ve been a worse decision than giving Ozil a bumper contract or letting Ramsey enter his last year. Both of those decisions were somewhat understandable (if Ozil had come back to peak form or if Ramsey had re-signed).

What were we thinking with this one? And giving him Vieira’s no.4 shirt? A real mystery.

Mintoes

Worse than rewarding Ozil 350k/wk for years of mediocre performances, limited availability and ensuring we are kept out of the CL as a result?! Don’t think so…

kaius

Def not saying any of them were *good* decisions lol

But let’s not rewrite history – Ozil had a great run of form before he signed his new deal. What did Mo Elneny do in 2018 that deserved a pay raise and an extension?

Mintoes

A “great run of form”? Really, when was that?! I remember he once played well against West ham 3 years ago then 3 consecutive games north of the Watford gap meant that was it…”unavailable” due to the sniffles…

kaius

You Ozil-haters are actually unbearable.

Anyway, little known fact about Elneny – when we signed him in January 2016, we were still top of the league. A good player, just not what we needed at the time.

Good luck to him

Vonnie

Mo’s agent is his dad, who was talking about him staying in the premier league after the transfer window had closed. I think a more professional agent would have sorted this before now. I hope all goes well for him, he’s always been reliable and professional and a is a decent footballer, I think he’s lost his confidence and plays better for Egypt, so a new start somewhere where he will be appreciated will be good for him and the club.

Billy Bob

Mustafi could go be there seems to be a distinct lack of interest in him!!! All the best to Mo, good man ?

Richie

He was linked with Roma but they now appear to be signing Chris Smalling on loan instead. I can’t see any club paying top coin for Mustafi without taking him on loan first as a test drive so to speak.

Win,lose or draw Emery remains the wrong choice

I wish you the best El nenny..hopefully when you are back you would be sold permanently by Erik Ten Hag

Twatsloch

I wish him somewhere where playing football is prioritised over injuring opponents. Can we not get him a nice German or French club instead?

Santori

Good.

Sell if you can.

Billy Bob

That was short and to the point!!!

Imustafiyou

No news from Mustafi? Can Mo please take him with you?

Ozenal

A hard working tidy squad player. As a first team regular he would need to be in a team who are compact in attack and defence.

If we can sell for cash that would be ideal

A swap deal for Mark Noble would be preferable to a loan imo. That is a player of experience with set piece skills and ability to pass between the lines.

Dave

We’ve already got too many midfielders. We don’t need another one who will expect to earn more than Elneny was on.

YoungFabregas4

Mark Noble lol!

Dave

Never saw him play badly, but never lit it up either.

Teryima Adi

Best wishes, Mo

GraeB

Wait until after the EL draw say I, don’t want the curse to hit. We’ve already got the Corporal on his return.

pradeep kachhala

so since September 2017 the following have left
cech
giroud
sanchez
walcott
koscielny
ramsey
wellbeck
Ox
Iwobi
Ospina
Coquelin
Mustafi (probable)
Monreal (probable)
Elneny (probable)

that’s a huge turnover and I would argue the vast majority of it was necessary
