Arsenal trio get England U21 call up

England U21s play Slovenia and Austria when the Interlull kicks in after Sunday’s game against Bournemouth, and three Arsenal players have been included in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad.

Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah have been called up after impressing so far during the domestic season.

Willock has 3 goals for the Gunners so far, his latest coming in the 4-0 win over Standard Liege last night.

Nelson is less profilic but does have two senior goals to his name, while up in Leeds Nketiah has 4 goals and an assist after an impressive start to his loan spell there.

Fingers crossed they can contribute at U21 international level too, and that Willock and Nelson in particular come through unscathed.

Finally some arsenal Players in England national team set up, I missed that, we used to contribute so much for English football until….. I actually do not know what happened in recent years.
Maybe Wenger got old.

Emmanuel pete

In his defense he tried the whole British core thing.

When I think of our young bunch I get so crazy exited about the future. Including players from 24 and down we look utterly promising. And I would LOVE for those young lads to have a coach with a clear philosophy that can instruct them well about tactics, position and decision making and form them into the PL-stars I truly believe that quite a lot of them can be… (PS. that why I really love the midweek matches the best at the moment…)

Emery and Ivory

I do wonder if it’s easier for Emery to get his ideas over to the younger players as they will do more for him in order to get their break into the team. Their desire seems amazing whatever the case. I think we’ll be able to judge Emery fairly once he gets his first choice defenders in the side too. I know we’ve lacked identity, but when you’ve got a clown car parked at the back it doesn’t help your midfield out too much. I’d like to think that by Christmas, if he’s still underperforming with a more solid defence,… Read more »

Fully deserved call ups. If Willock gets the game time for Arsenal, I see him breaking into the senior team by the end of the season.

Tapps

He’d be the first name on my teamsheet for every game. And yes, definitely our next full England international. Particularly when you consider Harry Bloody Winks has already got three caps!

Nigel Winterburns right peg

There’s been a lot of talk about our new youth players, and rightly so. However I have noticed one glaring omission. No one is talking about the next Nicklas Bentner, surely he is the benchmark of what the youth setup should be trying to achieve?

Saka not selected?

C.B.

That’s a travesty – Emery out*!!!

* it must be his fault.

The Spoon

Next world Cup, it’ll essentially be an Arsenal and Chelsea mix for England. I think Saka is a bit raw for England yet, but him Hudson Odoi and Sancho up front will be terrifying. Willock with the assists.

George

Yeah, odd. Guess they’re keeping him in the U19?

Red-Wing

Why do they all look stoned?

The Spoon

Kids these days

Tapps

They’re stoned.

The Spoon

Looking at the England squad, it’s an insult Willock isn’t in that. Winks and Delph really?

canadrian

Where’s Saka though?
