Hammarby have confirmed that Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have held talks with 16-year-old striker Emil Roback.
Apparently tipped for big things in Sweden, he’s also wanted by Bayern Munich.
Judging by the comments of Hammarby’s sports director Jesper Jansson, it doesn’t look like they will stand in the way of him making a potentially career-defining move.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, he said: “We were contacted and know about the interest [from Bayern]. He has also met Arsenal.
“There’s a strong interest and there are more clubs as well. He’s also been to Arsenal. Yes, I understand the interest.
“He is a forward with a great physique and speed and already a skilled goalscorer.”
Jansson went on to suggest he’d have no problem handing the youngster a senior debut when football resumes.
It’s funny talking about transfers at this point when we’ve no idea when the season might actually end. Presumably, deadlines will be shifted once a timeline is in place for the completion of 2019/20 campaigns across Europe.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Uefa had postponed Euro 2020 for a year to make room for domestic football to play out after the coronavirus outbreak has died down.
From the information here, he’s a very interesting prospect. I also believe in catching them young. Nothing to loose in bringing him on..
Nothing to loose apart from the purse strings.
Lose
Martin: I think that Ya Gooner intended to write “loosen”, rather
than loose or lose. The sentence makes sense that way.
Martin: However, you’d be correct in regard Charles’ OP.
Noone cares about HAMMARBAJS (means Hammarpoo), because they have
fanst on bus seats and also being generally poo.
You took the words right out of my mouth
True
As we’re on the subject of a young footballer. Has anybody seen young Enzo Cazorla doing his kick ups with the toilet roll? I googled him after watching and found his twitter page. He’s actually a die hard gooner, and he’s not fond of Mike Dean, too. What a great kid!
Would be great to one day see his father back at Arsenal working for the club in some capacity, and to see him join as a youth player.
Maybe he should be doing kick ups with something that’s less of a precious commodity these days!
