I expected Gabriel to start and Tierney to start at LWB That would’ve been a better balance for me but I guess thats why im not the manager.

Holding-Luiz-Tierney know how to defend against Liverpool, Gabriel doesn’t have that experience yet
The move from Ligue 1 to the PL itself is a big step up, let alone facing the league’s strongest attack in his 3rd game. He’s made a very good start but this game could easily have ended up wrecking his confidence

In the middle of a back 3 when he can focus on his strengths – aerial domination, organisation, distribution – not at all
Maybe Arteta doesn’t want to expose him to Liverpool front 3 yet. He is getting used to the league and confidence can play a big part in how he copes up with the league. It’s better for Gabriel to sit this one out in my opinion and bring in the experience on Luiz.

Aside from perhaps swapping in Gabriel, and various permutations of Saka and Pepe perhaps starting, that looks like about as strong a side as we could field. The substitution of Elneny for Ceballos is obviously Arteta playing more conservatively, given who and where we’re playing.

Might of liked Pepe’s pace on the break. I guess Arteta’s going with experience in Willian, Luiz and Elneny. I might have have gone with the more dynamic youngsters but WTF do I know. Hope he’s got it right! COYG!

I like the choice of elneny over ceballos to protect that back 3 better. We need to stay in the game long enough to nick it. COYG!
I think it makes sense to play Luiz over Gabriel in this game with this formation. My impression is that they would have to play the same position and that Arteta, in a game of this caliber, decided to go with the experienced (by far) player, who played really well the last time he faced them. Think about it; Gabriel has had two PL games before this one. In any case, COYG!!

Why does Holding ever get picked, he is incapable of playing well, the worst defender in the league by far…. Both goals Martinez would have saved, it is beyond me why Leno is still in the team, he is scared to come forwards and his throws out of the goal would let a non league team take advantage of. Please put the best players on Arteta, having Gabriel on the bench is a travisty…

Possibly Elneny and Dani for the next game? Granit is a leader and he does well against certain opponents. But if you are faced with a pressing team like Liverpool, he looks terrible.

ROB HOLDING has just proved to me today that yes it is time for him TO GO. I can now see clearly he is not top quality CB up until today I thought he shouldn’t be sold but now I can see clearly he’s not what we need going forward
