Midfield boost after Ceballos declared fit for Leicester clash

Mikel Arteta has been given a boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Leicester after Dani Ceballos was declared fit for selection.

The Spanish international missed the midweek trip to Rapid Vienna with a bruised ankle, but has come through an assessment well enough to be ready for the visit of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The 24 year old has started three of the five league fixtures thus far, and will be hoping to team up with new signing Thomas Partey tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Willian continues to be assessed to see if he can start as centre-forward ahead of literally anyone else because why would we do anything like play a great striker there or something mad. He has a calf problem.

Beyond that, there don’t appear to be any issues after the midweek game, and Arteta will be hoping to take three points before a trip to Old Trafford next weekend.

Good one.. Ceballos and partey

Qwaliteee

Needs to buck his ideas up.

He and Willian have been woeful thus far this season.

Biggles

Good news, but the whole team will need to step up a gear as the overall level of performance for most of this season has been mediocre. The Leicester game is a really good opportunity to kick-start what’s been an underwhelming start.

Duno

Lol. In a way, I hope Willian sits this one out. Perhaps play our best striker in the middle flanked by Saka and Pepe? With Xhaka/Elneny Partey and Ceballos in our midfield? Who knows? Lots of question marks, right? Okay, I’m done.

Fatgooner

Great to see Ceballos fit again: sadly, he’s the only players of his type that we have in the first-team squad. We badly need some creativity in central midfield. Subject change: if you live in the UK and you care about football then please don’t pay Sky the £14.95 they are demanding for the Leicester game tomorrow. Sky’s greed and insensitivity at this time of crisis and great hardship is truly shocking. To try to use Covid as an excuse to extract even more money from us hard-pressed supporters is sickening. I pay in excess of £100 per month for… Read more »

Johan

They want you to pay to watch the game though you already subscribe? 😳

Name*

How exactly are they justifying this PPV scheme? It’s nothing short of a scam

Naked Cygan

I agree, charging fans more and more is just ridiculous. I know you don’t want to pay any more, but a compromise will be to get together with 4-5 more Arsenal fans, or Leicester fans (if you know any), and everyone chip in £2.50-£3 and watch the game. But again with Covid….we are limited with the numbers of people we can get together with. Bollocks!!!

Fatgooner

No! Please don’t encourage them. Boycott them and then they’ll abandon PPV for good.

Gunner0304

Get one of them Android devices and start watching YouTube videos for instructions. You will be surprised.

Richie

Does any of that £14.95 go into Arsenal’s pocket?

Hurensohn

The majority does. It’s the clubs pushing this not the TV companies. Either way I wouldn’t pay for it…

Gunnar Eli

Easy solution is what I do … ( If I’m at work when we have a game.. stream… I got few websites I use ….

Public Elneny

Yep, you have to be crazy if you’re happy to dump your money into the bloated English football system and Sky, when there are free and easy alternatives

The English game doesn’t need more money, it will only go on increased player and manager salaries in the top flight. It needs to distribute it’s wealth better to lower league and grassroots clubs, and a well-balanced structure in place for wages

Blatant money-grabbing horseshit like PPV fees will only lose revenue streams in the long run as potential new / casual fans lose interest, causing sponsors to go elsewhere

This same thievery is being pulled by the NBC folks here. They used to show many of the marquee matches on their cable channels but now they have switched many of those games to their peacock network. But they keep just enough games on their main networks to try and force people to get both. And EL and CL rights are owned by another group (CBS) which means another subscription. Not to mention FA cup matches being owned by ESPN. I think it’s time arsenal sold their own TV service , cut out the middlemen. We shouldn’t have to buy… Read more »

You’re a bit mistaken here, it’s not sky pushing this it’s the clubs, they’re trying to get the season ticket holders to pay for the matches as a way of recouping the match day revenue lost. Sky might look at any success and say PPV could be viable but this isn’t them.

Dimma

If it was a fiver a match i would probably pay it (begrudgingly) but i do agree that its totally out of order having to pay 15 quid to watch, especially as people already have subscriptions. What i dont get is why they have priced it the same as some boxing matches. They are one off events that a subscription doesn’t cover. A football match every weekend for 15 quid is ridiculous.

Glad to have Dani back. I think hes a top talent and has Arsenal in his heart, which all gooners like!! I think 3-1 today as well

johnnycash

You pay £100 a month and are preaching to people about £15. How about cancel sky sports and Bt sports, pay nothing and then well see a change. You are already being exploited and are part of the problem like it or not.

Dubai Ham

Saka should start ahead of Willian.

johnnycash

Is this a boost.? Danny Dolittle should probably spend a few games on the bench now that Partey looks like a certain 1st choice in midfield.
