Taylor-Hart could get chance to impress for Arsenal U23s

Kido Taylor-Hart is one of the most talented players in the Arsenal academy setup, but the winger hasn’t featured as prominently as he would have liked in recent games.

Arsenal U23s coach Kevin Betsy appears to have settled on a first-choice attacking trio of Omari Hutchinson, Mika Biereth and Folarin Balogun, which has meant that Taylor-Hart has been on the periphery of proceedings of late and sometimes hasn’t featured at all.

Betsy deployed Taylor-Hart at left wing-back against Derby County recently and it was an experiment that didn’t work at all, with the youngster, who is renowned for his attacking attributes, frequently being exploited defensively.

Arsenal U23s are back in action tomorrow when they face Southampton away in the Premier League Cup, and that game could provide Taylor-Hart with a sustained opportunity to showcase his credentials.

It seems likely that the 19-year-old will be called upon to start, with Hutchinson set to be unavailable having played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal U18s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup with a shock defeat to Colchester United last night.

In addition, if Balogun goes on loan in January or becomes more involved with the first-team then it should provide Taylor-Hart with more chances.

A player who is skilful and an excellent crosser, Taylor-Hart will hope that after a period of frustration he will now get his time in the spotlight.
