Confirmed: Nikolaj Moller returns to Den Bosch

Arsenal have confirmed that 19-year-old striker Nikolaj Moller will return to Dutch second-tier side Den Bosch for the 22/23 campaign.

The Sweden under-20 international spent the second half of last season on loan with the the Blue White Dragons scoring twice in 11 appearances.

Moller had earlier spent six months in Germany with Viktoria Koln where he scored three goals in 13 appearances before his departure in January.

Reflecting on the signing of Moller, Den Bosch’s technical manager Jan Gösgens said: “Nikolaj has shown that he has a lot of potential. Last season he showed beautiful things at times.

“Because he has been able to get used to it for six months, I expect more from him. I am very happy that we were able to keep Nikolaj with us for longer.”

Best of luck to Nikolaj in Holland.

A really interesting bit in the Peter Crouch podcast was when he talked about going on loan to a non league side while at Sp*rs. He said that he really struggled and, as he was only 18, was physically destroyed by the “proper men” he was up against. He was really disheartened and even thought that maybe this was his level and he wouldn’t ever make it in the prem. It’s so easy to expect these lads to go and score 20 goals a season in these weaker leagues. But moves like this are far more about development than productivity.… Read more »

Thanks for putting it in perspective as, as you can see, I wasn’t sure about the usefulness of this move.

Y especially at the striker position. Going from holding up the ball against a fellow 17-18yr old to a 28-30 yr old, big shock. Young stickers need playing time like this to really improve faster.

Interesting, yet strange that this one leaves out a other of vital information.
Another loan? Or a permanent deal finally?
I’m guessing the former because no fee was mentioned. In that case, is he gone for another 6 months or a full season this time around?
Whichever one it is, all the best to the lad. It’s nice that he scores. Hopefully one that can lead the line some day or bring in a nice fee.

I guess it’s a loan deal. Hashtagged as loan player news article

Yes – though it also has the Transfers out keyword..

The wording suggests it’s a loan. Seems like the Odegaard loan in reverse, in that Moller played enough and impressed enough in the second half of a season such that the team wants him back for more. I guess as we get better and better at loaning out players and managing those loans, this is the kind of thing we’ll be doing more of.

Parlour's Pants

It doesn’t leave out any vital information. “for the 22/23 campaign” is clear. It’s a loan. It also says how long the loan is. “for the 22/23 campaign” means the whole season.

Feels like our choice of loan destinations have been much wider in the last few years so that teenagers get senior football over playing till late at u23s.

Merlin’s Panini

Is the Dutch 2nd division really going to be of benefit to him?
Even the first tier is pretty poor aside from three or four clubs.
I just hope this is actually good for his development.
