Arsenal 3-2 Man United – player ratings

Arsenal made the sure the lead at the top of the table was extended to 5 points after a 3-2 2 win over Man Utd at the Emirates this evening.

United took the lead through Marcus Rashford before Eddie Nketiah equalised. Bukayo Saka fired us in front, but Lisandro Martinez made it 2-2. The Gunners ramped up the pressure and in the end, Nketiah’s 90th minute winner was enough to take all three points.

Here’s how the players rated this evening.

10 for all

C.B.

‘Next summer Arteta should make it his priority to bring in a top striker. Forget about Eddie.’ was one opinion before the match.

Anyone agree?

Onenil

LOL Fatgooner!

mporter7625

What more do you want from the man. A 9 is judged on goals. Eddie has 17 in 24 starts since 2021. He is different than Jesus but he does not need to be replaced.

mporter7625

Other than Holland. There is only one of him.

GoonerJust

Hale End rules!

Mentalista

Who needs Haaland when you have Hale End.

Trixie Popsicle

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Gunfoo

Haleland

N.C

Eddie Nketiah has
scored 19 goals across his last 26 starts for Arsenal in all competitions, including 13 in his last 13 starts at the Emirates Stadium.

TeeCee

How come Fatgooner gets to vote 20 times and I only get to do it the once?

ArsenesLongSufferingZipper

Sorry mate. Your sarcasm seems lost on a lot of us here.

allezkev

10 for Holding……?

Darncat

Absolutely!!!

Jules

love a game where it’s impossible for me to choose a MOTM. Saka, Zinny, and Edward, all fucking outstanding.

Jules

additional bonus rating for beating sp*rs and United within the span of a week, far and away the two teams i despise most in football. a walloping for one team, and an unequivocally dominant performance with a 90th minute winner for the other. Shit. Better enjoy this moment because by god is it rare! stars align and everything is good. fuck yes, let’s go all the way!

Daveo

Why stop with just those two. Absolutely Chel$ki are =1 on the hated kants list. Let’s fuk them up again soon too! Complete the trifecta of battering the kantiest of the kant teams!

Flash

Plus,
That pass from Odegaard…

Goonshow

Bloke has ball-velcro on his boots!

Inspector norse

He does stuff like that every match now, things i have never seen done in a competitive match before.

Gunfoo

Filthy, just filthy

NorthernGooner

It’s been a few games now, they have all been outstanding!

Ebo

Eddie for me clearly MOTM, not just for his goals but always pressing and working hard for the team and could’ve had 1 or 2 more. But it was a total team performance too

Goonshow

I’d give it to him and Ziiiiiiiinch jointly – front and back, they nailed it.

Daveo

Taking nothing away from Eddie who was incredible, but IMO Zinny just played the most perfect and influential game I have ever seen by a fullback. I literally scored him a 10/10 – faultless, perfection.

Ebo

Zin had a great game but it wasn’t perfect, he lost the ball carelessly once at the edge of our penalty box which almost gave them a great chance if they hadn’t wasted it, and another time near the sideline inside our own half. It’s picking nits given how great he was otherwise but faultless perfection, no, and that’s why I’d give it to Eddie.

Daveo

That wave after wave of attack. So much of that was driven by Zinny. Yes, you’re totally nit-picking. That performance was the definition of bossing it, from a position on the pitch that no one ever really “bosses it” at. Someone needs to make a YouTube of ever contribution Zinny made in this game, still just not sure everyone is picking up just how incredible and vital this guy is.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Clearly Nketiah man and I am a regular Nketiah critic.

Fireman Sam

Eddie was awesome. That tackle tracking back to regain possession for us. Constant threat. High work rate. Well done son!!

loose_cannon

King Eddie was fantastic but Saka was absolutely unplayable today, Shaw won’t sleep at all tonight!

Goonshow

Even though his uncle Anthony allowed him to kick Saka the entire evening with impunity.

Nachoman

Partey also awesome

Tenzo

Hairy handed prick, lmao!

Badaab

10/10 fergie’s constant anguish as he’s pictured in the stands. AGAIN. retire already, you absolute ghoul.

Goonshow

He and Bruno Fernandes… eminently dislikeable human beings, both.

Cranky Colin

I really enjoy old Red Nose being up in the stand for every horrific Utd loss.
It’s lovely.
What a bellend.

TeeCee

Fuck yeah! I really hope the senile old bastard has enough marbles left for this to really sink in.

Exit the Lemming

He’s 81. At that age you idle on ‘anguished’ Give the guy a break. The most successful English club manager of all time. Respect is due

Tierney's Tescobag

I will remember this game for the rest of my life! Whaaat a moment!
Nketiah – get in!!!!❤️❤️❤️

Skinny Ricki

Wonderful comment. This team and this manager are creating special memories.

Tierney's Tescobag

Agreed!

Indra

Best ukrainian and norwegian in the league play for arsenal

Ebo

best Englishmen too and for sure the best Ghanaian

Der32

Best Brazilian(s), Frenchman, Swiss and English Goalkeeper too.

Arsenish

And the best Egyptian too! Our Moh!

Danny Boy

”He run for us that extra mile,
He swim the backstroke in the Nile,
Elneny, Mo Elneny”

Sean

Love seeing these comments and how “the best Egyptian” pretty much goes without saying at this point.

weebgooner

Best Japanese defender too

John

Which camp will Eddie be in? The latter I hope 😉 Wouldn’t want Nene Teye to be lonely 🙂

Ebo

He can be both for all I care, after what he’s been doing for us I’m not making him choose. He deserves to make at least two countries proud

wrightstuff8

Ebo for PM

Alex

Fuckin’ brilliant. But I’ve got Zinky down for a 9. He was everywhere.

vasgooner

Zinky – my MoM. Was involved in all goals and was more on the right side of the pitch than the left!!!!?????

El Mintero

He was superb today.

Fireman Sam

Agree. Zincho helped us keep calm, believe in our technical ability and really helped drive us forward. Technique. Class.

Goonshow

Just watch the interview with him afterwards – what an amazing off-pitch asset he is as well. Calm, wise, implacable. Diamond geeza.

Stafflod

KINGCHENKO!

Goonshow

Luvvit.

Owen

His disguise on his passing is just rude

Powerzan

A hidden playmaker in the LB position. Nobody really marked him because everyone think he is just a LB. Secret weapon.

Goonshow

Watching him yesterday, I think Mik’s ultra secret plan is for him to be the extra Jan mid-field signing as Thomas’s backup. KT jumps in at left-back if Thomas gets injured with Kingchenko as MF pivot…

Goonshow

Very nice of Pep to give us a BOGOF on that deal!

Powerzan

He used to play like Partey but yesterday was more like Odegaard. He is so flexible

C.B.

Youngest team in the league with 11 points above 3rd place!!!
Will be in the top two, and have a decent chance of winning!!!

C.B.

And a game in hand!!!

The Far Post

After the last season, that “game in hand” phrase has lost a bit of its magic 🙁

Goonshow

Ouch… you just had to go there.

Savage

After this half season, “just aiming for top 4” has lost a bit of its magic

Tucker

Absolute hats off to Eddie. His all round game has improved so much and his attitude is just exemplary – he works so hard for the good of the team

Up4GrabsNow!

Eddie really put in a shift. Ran his socks off, tracked back, pressed, made tackles and is every gamekeepers nightmare – A Poacher / Fox in the Box. Hope De Gea is ok from that brutal elbow he took to the ribs… what a joke.

El Mintero

Eddie was awesome.

Goonshow

UTD have become such a bunch of divey cunts… I blame Fernandes’ influence.

Powerzan

Fernandes thinks that he should have at least one penalty in each game he played. This match included. What a joke 😂

Eric Blair

Rooney? Ronaldo? Horse face? It’s nothing new.

LEFT08

And his finishing is class too. He is benefitting so much from this run in such a good side. Really happy for him.

Master Floda

I wouldn’t swap him for Toney or Wilson, that’s for sure

Akshay

Zinchenk interview “We will regret if we do not enjoy these moments”. Love this guy!!

goongot

10/10 for antony for hyping partey to be an usain bolt regen. 100m and slower then mertesacker.

Richard

Not sure why we were whistling him? Is that because we couldn’t get Mudryk as Antony’s price was pointed at?

Bcm77

Antony just comes across as a bit of c@nt, plus he was doing some awful showboating against us at old toilet earlier in the season

Beef

He basically dived into the penalty area early on. Or it looked like he did – we didnt get replays.

Goonshow

I really didn’t know Partey had that kind of pace – incredible burst of speed.

Arsenalfanthem

I hope United and their fans are seething at the lateness and possible offside of the winning goal. The jammy gits. I didn’t see the game but from the sounds of it we deserved the win on balance of play.

Jedders

I mean, there was no offside….

Hair on Ram's Tail

There wasn’t! But it would be fun to wind them up and get them going by asking what they thought of the VAR review. Like winding up a wind-up toy and watching it spin around until it falls to pieces.

Jedders

Agree. and i think you described Antony in your second sentence ;P

Exit the Lemming

Even Man Utd fans think Antony should have an extra tattoo that says ‘rinse thoroughly before use’

Up4GrabsNow!

We dominated much of the game. Rashford’s goal was excellent but they should not have got a second.

NorthernGooner

All that time wasting came back to bite them in their arse!

Goonshow

The best part of it is that De Gea’s histrionics after Eddie’s rib-tickle just meant our winner came even later and left them less time to respond.

JoleeBindoVI

COYG, great victory against a much better man utd side I’ve seen in ages. The fact we win this one makes it even sweeter. Let’s celebrate with pizza!

Chicagooner

I will offer mine to Fabregas 😂

Savage

Arsenal xG 2.94 to United xG 0.33. The scoreline flattered United.

Powerzan

We are clearly much better team. But hey, they think they deserve to win the match. You can watch Ten Hag post match interview. Lol

Anon

You know what they say about hairy palms …

Arsenish

Not just silky smooth but with fucking fire in the belly and that belly is made out of rocks! Thats us, thats Arsenal! Outstanding fight from the team today and more than that fucking snatched the win!
Trossard made an impact! Already got half the worth we paid for him!
Saka and Nketiah ❤️, seeing them score made me emotional. I remember their debut game and now their are our talisman (among others)!

Goonshow

Tross is going to turn out to be bargain of the season, just watch.

arsenal_gunner_win

better than a certain other number 19 I could mention…

Goonerink

We might not have won the league yet, but it’s nice to look back and see that we haven’t deserved to lose a single game this season!

Der32

Crazy to think about actually.

btw

Leeds 16 Oct probably deserved to win, otherwise I agree. How did we become so good?

Chijioke

If not for bad refereeing, maybe we would have won at Southampton, Old Trafford and Emirate against Newcastle

benjmin

Martinelli OUT now We have The Magician Trossard🤩

Badaab

are you trossard’s agent or what

Henkamp

Reactionary much? I hate when fans do this.

Goonshow

You utter chop.

Sam I Am

Vai tomate cru

portugunner

🤣

Matthinc

Hahaha haha good trolling dude

Arsemusic

Why go for the down vote record when there’s so much to enjoy and celebrate.

ArsenesLongSufferingZipper

What’s wrong with people?

Exit the Lemming

Are you Roberto De Zerbi?

Up4GrabsNow!

WE’VE GOT SUPER MIK ARTETA!

mrugunner

All were amazing!!
Zinnie OMG!!!! What a steal.
Partey time the difference. He will win us the title we need to protect him at all costs

Jedders

As Goldie Lookin’ Chain once sang:
“FUCK YOU ALICIA Richard Keys”

Emi Rates

Luke Shaw has this to say: “We probably deserved that [to concede a late winner]. We were a bit passive and let them control the game completely in the second half. To concede right at the end is gutting. I think we know they’re an extremely good side and we were fighting all the way. In games like this you need to concentrate for 90 minutes. They always start fast. We got through that and started to have a bit more control on that game. We were aggressive, winning the ball high up the pitch, like we did for the… Read more »

Crash Fistfight

Fair play to him, that’s pretty accurate.

JP2

Solid guy, doesn’t play around with silly BS like so many of his teammates do

Goonshow

Although his uncle Anthony allowed him to kick Bukayo around all night with impunity.

JP2

He got carded, but a little later than he should’ve

Goonshow

Defs – that late yellow should’ve been a second. Early shower Lukie.

Sam I Am

I have a lot of respect for Luke Shaw after hearing him talk with Ian Wright once.

Bcm77

Plus he hates Mourinho as well

BJBVegas

Shaw absolutely gushes about Saka, the person, after spending time with him with England. Clearly respects Saka, the player, giving him yards of space today. Re: Saka — has a more fearsome player ever been a more lovable human being?

Exit the Lemming

Kudos to the ‘fat turd’ (see previous post) for his candour

AppelsenPere

This is mega.

sloshburger

Brilliant of Arteta to sub Tomi on for White at halftime, and bringing on Trossard at the end. I’m lollercausting hard at the delusional MU fan reactions!

Gunnerlocutor

Excellent substitutions. Great to see that Arteta seems to be improving at that aspect of in-game coaching.

Exit the Lemming

Yes, I’ve noticed he’s being proactive with his subs rather than reactive as in the past (when the changes were usually too little too late)

Heavenly Chapecoense

He wanted to avoid him getting a red card knowing the referee will not miss the opportunity to do so.

A Different George

I was wondering if White was ill (seriously). He made one bizarrely bad pass, unforced and unhurried, almost as if he forgot which team he was on. I was not surprised at all to see Tomiyasu come on. Did anyone see White come out at all for the second half?

Challah Baker Soldier Spy

He had a bit of an off game, it happens but it’s nice to have a great player like tomiyasu ready to slot in.

Goonshow

Bargain Buy of the Season, mate.

Goonshow

Sorry – that was meant to go one comment lower down!!

Goonshow

He and Thomas had very iffy starts to the match… very sloppy passing from both.

Fireman Sam

Trossard looked great too!

Goonshow

here…

Goonshow

Ben looked really shaky first half – I was hoping he’d bring Tomi on but didn’t think he’d be that ‘controversial’. Great move, but I think the yellow card gave him the excuse he needed.

KrishTH14

What a goal by Saka, star boy!

luc

where is the holding-on rating?

Ebo

Ramsdale should be higher. Could have maybe done a wee bit better for their second goal but had some spectacular distribution and saves

BillyKrystal

That save down low from Rashford was massive and not an easy one at all. And that little roll up the middle to Partey where he leads him a bit. Things like that are so good, it gives us so much momentum. So few goalies are willing to take risks like that but so few can pull it off like him.

Ebo

Yeah that save you could say won us the match just as much as any goal we scored. And some of his medium-length kicks under pressure too, almost always finding the target, allowing us to both keep possession and escape pressure at the same time, you can’t overstate how crucial that is to how we play

Savage

There was a glorious pass from Ramsdale to Martinelli in the second half, along with Martinelli’s as-usual impeccable first touch

Exit the Lemming

If De Gea had made the same error (and he made some great saves in the game) he would have been slaughtered

luc

also think zinchenko was motm. notice how partey just left him the ball several times. he’s taking over the deep lying play making from partey

BigArse

Amazing game. To think our start front three cost us 6 million in transfer fees, all for Martinelli. Unbelievable. I love these kids.

El Mintero

Thank you Eddie! Thank you thank you thank you 🔥🔥🔥

A Different George

I know Odegaard was less dominating than recently, but we were playing a better team, in form. If you can do what he did today against a top team, you are at the very top. You know, like top of the league.

JMD

Agree. Thought Odegaard on top form in first half, but tailed off a little after he hurt his back. At that point zinny seemed to take the lead. We dominated the game, but a couple of close calls. If Fernandez’s had stuck to his knitting instead of taking a dive, he might have scored. Then there was Partey s unbelievable acceleration to neutraliize Antony (I think) break out. Oh, and the three- collision at the edge of the box .

Powerzan

If you want to know Odegaard is actually an “older God”. Try watch any arsenal highlights in the YouTube with subtitle on. You will find it.

Spanish Gooner

I think they’d highlighted him as our danger man and specifically blocked the edge of the box he thrives in, usually with McTominay. Everything is connected, and that stops the same player closing down the cross for Nketiah’s first or moving across to block Saka as he cut inside.

John

Listening to 606 with Savage and Sutton after the game is like being subjected to those two old farts in the gallery on the Muppet Show.

Master Floda

Why would anyone do this to themselves and listen to these wankers?

Goonshow

Is your radio stuck on that channel?

Emi Rates

Waldorf and Statler. It’s a funny comparison but it falls on W&S being both of reasonable wit and intelligence.

Mark

Loved watching Saka boss around that fat turd Shaw. This team has answered every question this season so far, if we stay healthy the two Man City games are going to be for the title. Great to have Trossard on board now to provide some firepower off of the bench.

Exit the Lemming

I thought Shaw handled Saka pretty well but he lacked defensive support from Rashford and this seems to be why Fernandes spent so much time in that area of the pitch. I’m guessing Ten Hag wanted to keep his (only) potent attacking option as hight up the pitch as possible.

Onenil

By far the greatest team the world has ever seen!

Exit the Lemming

Glue is for sticking things together bro…

pound4pound

Zinchenko is just a monster. Can’t believe we nabbed him!

Mark

Would much rather have him than Martinez especially with how Arteta wants to play with Zinchenko being so involved in possession.

Goonshow

Just watched his post-match interview and they showed footage of him during the team ‘huddle’ – the bloke is a MASSIVE asset.

Spanish Gooner

Did you see him after Rashford’s goal? He was doing a Gerrard in Istanbul impression and I absolutely loved it

Exit the Lemming

What….stealing a car or robbing an off license?

Rufusstan

With Zinchenko, we can move from 4-3-3 to3-4-3 with ease in the mddle of a game. In the summer he was seen very much as a secondary buy to Jesus. He’s turned out to be every bit as good if not even better.

shokim

Everyone putting in a shift. Well deserved win. COYG!

Determination Cultured

Great great performance. Just the sort of confidence and mental strength of champs. Haggy boy thought shaving bold to look like pep makes him pep. Clown.

Exit the Lemming

Good manager. Very astute. Certainly not a clown

Hanning

Anyone else finding it hard to ignore the similarity between this game and the 3-2 Platty header win?
I fucking love this team.

too funky in here

Good spot, the big difference was even right after that game we still thought Platt was a tosser but we love Eddie.

Exit the Lemming

Yep, Platt would even have been lonely in a petri dish. NOT an Arsenal player

Crash Fistfight

I know you like White, but to give him the same score as Tomi is a bit myopic in my opinion. I thought White was having a shocker and was happy to see him come off.

Challah Baker Soldier Spy

I really like Benjamin too but he was poor, he’s played a lot of games and maybe one or two on the bench to rest might do him good.

Walleye

I think Ben has been ill. His expressions are not what we are used to seeing.

Spanish Gooner

He also seemed like he had huge bags under his eyes to me. It’s probably nothing to worry about.

Exit the Lemming

Ben’s been brilliant this season but when you have a centre half playing as a right back against the form player in the division (Rashford) something’s gotta give…

BidOnLard

10/10 for the 10/10

Chapeau

10/10 for all of Zinchenko’s goal celebrations. I’m looking for him whenever we score

Tommmy

We’ve got our arsenal back! Even if we hadn’t won, that second half performance was unbelievable. Pegging them back so dominantly. Proud

Jamie

Trossard was a brilliant signing. Going to fill in perfectly for Martinelli and give him a much needed rest in cup games, as well as keep the momentum going at the end of league matches.

Goonshow

I was watching him when the stands were roaring at full tilt – he must have been thinking, ‘So this is what it’s supposed to be like!’

Onenil

He’s a lucky bloke joining this team now.
Nice contribution to the winner too, showed he can fit straight in.

El Mintero

He looked good when he came on. Not overawed in the slightest and made an immediate contribution. I like his confidence. Will prove a very useful addition.

Goonshow

Yeah – some say his attituded with De Zerbi was ‘cocky’, but there’s a certain self-confidence that some top players have that makes them ‘nerveless’ on big occasions. I get the sense he’s one of those. Needs some managing, but has all the tools to play at the highest level.

Exit the Lemming

Yes I agree. Very shrewd signing but there’s a thin line between ‘assertive self confidence’ and erm,…Aubameyang remember? He needs to buckle down. No tantrums etc

Julius

Eddie was as god as ever but I always belived in him.
Dont think buys will make a real different because we can see the desire and will of the team that is more important.
So proud to be a gooner today thought I thought both gools from the wankers was avoidable

K-Gooner

Letssss gooooo! Let’s keep our head down. Win the Next one. Haters can hate hate hate!

Feggie’s face said it all! Let me get my pizza!

What a win! What a statement!

Master Floda

Speaking of Fergie and pizza: Cesc was pretty happy too in the Sky studio

Exit the Lemming

Is there a ‘bitter beetroot’ pizza?

LEFT08

Just brilliant. So happy for Eddie right now. We absolutely bossed it all round. Onwards & upwards gooners!!

AusDrexler

Odegaard’s touch for that chance he setup for Xhaka…. brilliant ball control. Deserved something from that. This team, keeps answering the critics, keeps producing when the pressure is on, keeps getting those results. And how nice to see MANU not get a helping hand from a dodgy VAR call today. Sweet.

Nobi-Wankenobi

F*ck Gary Neville

Arsenalnut

How many times may we upvote on this one alone, Blogs?

Goonshow

I’d really rather not, though…

Exit the Lemming

Agreed. After all Paul Scholes is the better butt kisser

The legend of Salibaba

Your defence is in trouble, when nketiahs in the room

JP2

The pressure we were able to keep on them for the last 30 minutes says a lot about how far this team has come. The ability to exert control over every match, the ability to push for a winner against a good team, it’s unbelievable. So so good!

And how about that Odegaard flick through to Xhaka in the box around the 50th minute? He liked rolled the ball onto his foot and flicked it with the same foot, just phenomenal!
