Arsenal confirm date for postponed Everton fixture

Arsenal’s home match against Everton has been rearranged for 7.45pm on Wednesday 1st March.

The fixture was originally due to be played in September when the Toffees were managed by Frank Lampard but was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to Everton on Sunday but won’t have to wait too long – just 22 days – to exact revenge for the scoreline and to reclaim the shirt that Vitalii Mykolenko pulled off Bukayo Saka.

Everton’s visit to Emirates Stadium falls between a trip to Leicester and a home game with Bournemouth.

There are no plans to broadcast the match in the UK.

As good a time as any for a spot of revenge on Maupay – and extending the lead on City.

Not long to wait then. Let’s hope that the “Goodison Park” Arsenal don’t turn up against The Toffees this time around (or anyone else this season).

Blaise

Still hurting from that Everton loss. We would have been 8 points out of sight now. I can’t wait for us to win the premier league this season

Boy Bastin

Sp*rs (of all teams) did us a big favour after that game though so we live to fight for a more comfortable lead another day – but no more sloppy performances, please.

DublinGooner

They owed us that for the last game of ’98/’99 season when they rolled over for United to deny us back to back league wins

onenil

In a pub in Primrose Hill, as the match started Sean Bean turned up with some mates. Les Ferdinand scores for Sp*rs and there was some hope. Then they just roll over and I realise I’d been kidding myself.

To ensure fairness Lampard has to come back for this game?
It’s what the Queen would have wanted

Bossman Bill

Hopefully we can turn FC Dychelona over this time.

“There are no plans to broadcast the match in the UK….” Don’t worry about that, we’ll watch it 😉

Brentford this weekend is now a massive game. Not only do we have to win but an impressive performance is required. Even with the City game coming up four days later Arteta should resist the temptation to rotate. All the big boys should start. We need a crushing win to bring back the confidence. Then we can deal with City.

Big performances are needed especially from Martinelli and White, who’ve both been poor recently.

We can go EIGHT points clear on Saturday.

Absolutely, can’t rest anyone. Hopefully partey is ok. I felt a bit for martinelli as he had no support on his side with Zinchenco coming into midfield most of the time against Everton. A good win, confidence restored and I I feel strongly we will take care of city. Just so wish Jesus was fit. He creates so much threat that we clearly missed against the toffees when rest of team were struggling to create.

Man Manny

Zinchenko works better when Gabriel Jesus is playing. His drifts to the left helps Martinelli have more impact in games.

A Different George

I agree that something has been off about Ben White’s play (and certainly that has contributed to Saka’s being less productive). I’m not so sure Martinelli has been poor–as others have pointed out, I think he doesn’t mesh nearly as well with Eddie as with Gabriel Jesus. That’s not Eddie’s fault–Jesus naturally interchanges on the left. I like the idea that Trossard’s presence means that Martinelli can play all-out, even if that leaves him exhausted for the final 20 minutes. I think the key to Brentford remains our midfield. A big game from Xhaka, but especially from Odegaard, will lead… Read more »

Agree, Martinelli and White have been poor recently. If Trossard can’t bring the end product that Martinelli is lacking then as soon as ESR is fit, he should play. We can also bring Cozier-Duberry from the academy and Arteta telling him to show “no respecto a nadie” in the PL.

Jane

I think Nelli is isolated due to the drifting off of Ziññy into the midfield. Xhaka is expected to give him the d-coil or change the play and bring iñ Tieny

Boy Bastin

Yes, you’re right. I hope we win, and win well as you say of course but I’ve a lot of respect for what Brentford has accomplished. They are easily the smallest club in the PL, yet have only lost 4 games all season and are unbeaten in the last five so we need to be careful.

As long as there’s no hint of the “phantom” Arsenal that appeared on Merseyside last week we should get the points but we also need a “good” win if possible.

wrightstuff8

I would argue Bournemouth are “the smallest” But it doesnt matter. It’s the Prem. Anything can happen. Need to be so much more on it against Brentford than we were against Everton or we will loose.
Gooners at the stadium need to continue the positive vibes for our boys to do there thing. COYG

Nacho de Montreal is tasty

Soon, we will be 30 points clear above City due to points deduction.

santishaun

So this game is not on any channel.
Can some one explain why we pay for
Sky
BT
Amazon
BBC
ITV?

Mr Aubergine

We don’t , it’s 2023 loads of ways to get round paying t extortionate prices for tv services 😁

Brady’s bunch

🤫🤫

santishaun

Of course I understand that but what if its not televised at all. Then how will you watch it……………….?

santishaun

9th november v Brighton (it was only the Carabao cup I admit) was not televised. I know cos I was there and there were no cameras)

Boy Bastin

Brentford aren’t considered a big enough draw I guess.

Nainsley Aitland Miles

Think he was talking about the Everton game.

Nainsley Aitland Miles

Maybe Sky will pick it up? They were due to show the fixture on the original date on September 11 so presumably still have the broadcast rights to this game.

TechGuyNiran

Tomiyasu for Ben White and Trossardn for Martinelli…both need a kick up the arse, they’ve been average not necessarily poor…If Emile was fit no question Xhaka loses his place in the starting eleven based on his display against the toffees…I hardly even remember Vieria when talking about our attacking players…He doesn’t look the kinda player you can rely on.

Savage

Martinelli spends a lot of time trying to beat his man, but it’s making him predictable, especially when they double up on him. He needs to mix it up and look for team-mates more often. This is an area where Nketiah has upped his game, more interconnection with the team.

Martinelli had a couple of tough games away at City and Everton but he’s usually brilliant at home. He’ll run Brentford and Man City ragged.

I can see the argument to give Tomiyasu a start against Brentford. But on the other hand, it’s a nice fixture for White to get his spark back.

Savage

Another 5-0. Thank you.
