Report: Saka to sign new deal worth £200k per week

According to The Athletic, Bukayo Saka has agreed a new long-term deal with Arsenal.

The Daily Mail adds that the deal will be worth £200,000 per week and would make the England international the club’s highest-paid star.

Saka broke into the first team as a 17-year-old during Unai Emery’s short tenure and quickly became a mainstay in the Gunners’ starting lineup under Mikel Arteta.

After lengthy negotiations, he penned a new deal in the summer of 2020 and apologised to the supporters for the time it took.

It’s a similar story this time around with the player hinting for months that he’s happy to stay at Emirates Stadium but talks taking a long time to progress. The club have been relatively relaxed with Arteta saying back in July that a deal was “a matter of time.”

In the meantime, the Gunners activated a 12-month extension clause in his current contract securing him through until 2024.

Every week that passes, Saka’s profile grows and with a successful World Cup under his belt and two Arsenal player of the season awards to his name, it sounds like his representatives have been able to secure him a bumper wage increase. The new deal will last up until 2028.

Fair enough, the boy deserves it.

Arsenal have already announced contract extensions for the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Mohamed Elneny in recent months and fellow Hale End graduates Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe have committed their long-term futures to the club in the not-too-distant past.

Good news.

Well deserved and in truth a good deal for Arsenal.

Johnny 4 Hats

Mbappe – 600k
Haaland – 400k
Rashford – 400k

I think this is an absolute steal.

So pleased to hear this news.

Saliba. Over to you…

Determination Cultured

Lol.. Rashes at 400k… Dude is the balon dor and record epl scorer.. Since the world cup… But he has a shocking goal drought cos he didnt score last night.. Nowhere close to the level of our dear bukayo

Naked Cygan

Saliba will not sign a new contract.

Bongogooner

Still waiting for VAR to fuck us over in this….

timorous me

FA charges incoming for completing too good of a deal for too likable of a player.

Bongogooner

Arsenal go to jail for robbery and fraud

Bruce

Super stuff

RockyRog58

Utterly deserved applause for this lad ! He has gone through a lot but by God he’s one fantastic brilliant footballer Better than that he’s the same as a person ! Best news of the year !!!!

Daniel

Finally

Tucker

Get in. Wasn’t one I was remotely worried about but nice to see it wrapped up nonetheless.

200k is a hell of a lot of money, but if that’s what the club value Partey and Jesus at then there’s no weigh he should be on less

Alex

No whey at all

AJH

PRAISE THE LORD!

Red Arrow

Great news! And great value if you consider we paid Ozil 350k pw!

Fuzz

Sakaaaaaa!

ItIsNow

Whatever it takes, really. Be happy when I see it announced officially. Arsenal is his home.

Bongogooner

YEEEEEEES

Kiwamya

Worth every penny

Giuseppe Hovno

When you consider his on pitch contribution this year, he’s definitely worth it. He always steps up

PGunner

The money footballers earn is crazy, and it’s a weird feeling thinking that this is a fucking deal and a half for the Arsenal, but definitely also for Saka, he’s at the club he loves, surrounded by excellent team mates playing the most beautiful game in the world. Next for Saliba please. In summary, come on you gunners!

Eric Blair

I think we get too hung up on the money our club spends. The most important thing is to have inspirational players like Saka in there giving their all, they’re priceless.

Mark

What great news, to me he is worth even more than he is getting paid considering what some of the players here have made before him. I know Saliba will be tough to sign, but if we can’t his profile has risen so much if we need to sell him we would get a good return (though I hope we can sign him too).

Man Manny

How does £200k make him “the club’s highest paid star” when Gabriel Jesus is alleged to be on 265k and Partey on 200k too?

William Nilliam

This is the news we’ve all been waiting for

ste787

Fantastic news. He is a player that would quite literally walk into any teams starting 11 in the world right now. I genuinely don’t know who else in our squad could say that so credit to the lad. I would have liked 6/7 years but beggers can’t be choosers

Crash Fistfight

I think having a contract with Arsenal means he couldn’t literally walk into any team’s starting 11 right now. I think the rules would prohibit such a move.

The Only Olivier is Giroud

Looking forward to hearing the fans singing “Saka and Emile Smith Rooooowe!” for many more seasons to come. Great news indeed!

Sheldon

I wouldn’t bat an eye even if his agent demanded 350K. Saka is a once in a generation talent. This also puts a nice ceiling on any other squad members who have ideas of lofty wages.

Fuzz

Plus £100k for every foul called on him

Chris

Given the quality and inconsistency of todays refs, that would be a total of £0

Howard

He deserves every penny of it. Best player Elneny can’t lace his boots. Sanchi and Antony all taking around 300k a week and he’s better than them.

Man Manny

What has Elneny got to do with this? He is doing his best for the club he loves with all his heart, and not competing with Saka; show some respect, man.

Tucker

Hmm, not quite sure why the Elneny comment was necessary and/or relevant?

The man’s a model professional, is on 20% of the weekly salary and allegedly took a pay cut to sign his new deal

wrightstuff8

This guy…..

Alex

Saka is the worlds best right winger. There is literally no one I would rather see in that position on our pitch. He’s is 21.

Qwaliteee

Fantastic news.

The lad is worth every single penny.

Group Captain Mandrake

Fantastic news! Now if only this was the monetary threshold that will gain him some protection from the refs.

allezkev

When you consider what it would cost to bring in a replacement at the same age and level it’s a good deal for Arsenal and a great one for Bakayo. 2028 leaves enough time to renegotiate a better deal in 2 or 3 years if his development continues on its present curve and he becomes as good as he should become and so he can continue to ply his trade at Arsenal into the next decade.

It’s a great day.

djourou's nutmeg

im happy that he signed and I’m hoping this doesn’t mess out wage structure too much. he plays very well, he’s a lovely guy and he’s one of our own. yet i don’t see him as a generational talent as many arsenal fans say. he could very well become one, since he’s only 21 and the sky’s the limit, but right now i just see him as another very good player in the squad. i’ve checked around and football seems to be changing a little bit because there aren’t many other really good wide forwards either, so maybe you’d have… Read more »

Crash Fistfight

But £200k/week is the going rate for “very good” so does it matter if he’s “world class” or not?

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. I don’t see too many players in his position doing better than him.

djourou's nutmeg

i don’t see where we disagree, im completely with you on everything you said!

Chijioke

Don’t let people explain a match you did not watch. Sit and watch match bro. Can you mention a better player in the world that can steal the RWF from him.
It is true, we don’t know the worth of ours until they are stolen from us.

djourou's nutmeg

like i said, there doesn’t seem to be many very good wide forwards nowadays so yes, he’s probably one of the best in that position. but people are talking like he’s prime salah or something and i think he’s not there just yet. very good player and happy to keep him, of course. but he can improve a lot and i’m glad we’ll see him do that with us.

Christopher Wreh

Bukayo Saka is a symbol of modern Arsenal. Of all of the contracts, I think he was the most important to tie down. I truly believe he has what it takes to become one of the greatest players this club has ever seen, and with him being one of our own, that makes this deal even more significant.

I am back in love with this club. Let’s enjoy the ride.

Finsbury Park Gooner

Money just can’t buy what we have in Saka. This is truly a case of getting it done at any cost.

Merlin’s Panini

Good news. That’s a hell of a pay packet for someone his age but he’s an extraordinary talent. He’s been so consistent since his breakthrough. It’s kind of incredible to think we used to play him at left back. It shows what a talent he is that he could play there competently as well. It also will have helped his game given playing the position gives you a perspective of how you can be caught out in that position. Playing on the right wing now he can exploit that. There’s so much young talent bearing fruit in this squad it… Read more »

Death by 300,000 Passes

Great news.
And B is the only player, for which I am sure that we will not witness the famous post-contract signing slump.

Teryima Adi

We cooking something good for the future.😀
