Arsenal announce two new commercial partnerships

Arsenal’s quest to close the commercial revenue gap on our ‘Big Six’ rivals has seen the club add two new partners in the space of a week, with a third likely to be confirmed in the coming days.

On Monday, the club announced Unilever’s Dirt Is Good laundry brand (known as Persil in the UK) had become an official partner of the men’s and women’s team with the aim of spotlighting the top performance of their laundry products and their ability to deliver superior cleaning even in quick and cold washes.

It’s a bit of a throwback to a partnership with Ariel in 1987…

Of course, you can’t just flog products these days, there’s got to be a cockle-warming mission underpinning such a relationship, which in this case is about helping “younger generations see the value of playing sport, getting stuck in, and getting dirty”.

Catchy.

This morning, Arsenal have also unveiled Google Pixel as the club’s Official Mobile Phone Partner.

The press release explains: “Supporters will be able to access exclusive content, as well as deeper, tech-driven experiences, using Google’s AI-powered camera features on the device. This will amplify supporters’ experience across Emirates Stadium and Meadow Park, as well as for people watching at home across the world.”

At the moment, that’s likely to be undermined in N5/N7 by an inability to get mobile reception but perhaps this relationship will spur the club to get on that. It’s long been in the pipeline.

There’s also a promise to “bring supporters closer to the women’s games by delivering more, high-quality content, helping to inspire more girls and women to get involved in the sport”. Which is nice.

We’ve no idea how much cash these partnerships will earn the club but every little helps. They come quick on the heels of extensions with kit supplier Adidas (to 2030) and shirt & stadium sponsor Emirates Airline (to 2028).

They’re missing a trick if they don’t do a clip of Rice putting a West Ham shirt in the washing machine then pulling it out as an Arsenal shirt.

Declan Fried Rice with Egg

While I like the idea, I wouldn’t want to do what Kos did to our club.

Russ

I think it would work better with Havertz

Qwaliteee

That is utterly brilliant.

And would piss off so many West Ham fans.

Which makes it utterly UTTERLY brilliant! 😂

Unilever and Google, 2 of the world’s most valuable brands, great commercial signings IMHO. Just as important as renewing the partnership with Fly Emirates. Strangely the commentary on this signing is quite juxtaposed to the recent news on Fly Emirates. I wonder why that is.

Solomon Grover

Not really. The club needs fan ownership like the Bavarian Munchers.

Stonks

Detergent partner?! What’s next? A pack of screwdrivers for the house?

Qwaliteee

Mr Allen – sorry to be an anorak, but that Persil ad wasn’t 1987. The kit worn by the boys in the picture is from 1983/84. I suspect this was done in the spring of ‘84, because Paul Mariner is in the squad and we signed him from Ipswich in the January’84 window.

Cheers 😊👍🍺🍺

Qwaliteee

No need to apologise my friend. 😉👍🍺🍺

Qwaliteee

* Sorry, Aerial. My bad!

It was still 1984!! 😂

LEFT08

Forget Ariel, bring back that exact kit, JVC and all…

Unilever – ‘Dirt is good’

Must be referring to the money Unilever continues to pump into Russia in spite of the war crimes Russia has and continues to commit there. Dirt indeed. Imagine being Zinchenko and having to endorse that brand everyday at work.

Disgusting!

Emi Rates

“There” being Ukraine of course.

Rich

Almost certainly committing war crimes in other places as well through various mercenary groups and coups!

Vonnie

Yes, I thought of that too, I don’t buy Unilever products any more. They tell lies and make excuses about why they can’t leave, and say it’s OK for their staff to be conscripted to fight against Ukraine. Other companies took the hit and just left. Sadly the Arsenal sponsorship will be paid with blood money, hideous.

TexasGooner6

If you have a problem with Unilever sponsorship, I’d advise you read a bit on Rwanda’s President. Dirty money all around.

Google Pixel Arsenal Edition incoming…

DHock

How does the Google Pixel deal work when Liverpool has signed the same one?

TexasGooner6

Fly Emirates sponsors multiple teams as well

A Different George

We still have a long way to go to catch Man United. Official South Asia detergent partner. Official North America underwear designer. Official South-Central Europe frozen pizza brand.

Eric Blair

Don’t forget Sp*rs, official adult nappy sponsor in Japan, for all those games when they shit the bed.

Russ

I think it would work even better with Havertz

Russ

Ignore, bloody technology 🤦‍♂️
