Arsenal take on Liverpool at the Emirates in the FA Cup third round, without the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Here are today’s official line-ups.
Arsenal: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior, Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Nelson, Havertz
Subs: Raya, Cedric, Walters, Sousa, Nwaneri, Smith Rowe, Nketiah, Trossard, Martinelli
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Quansah, Gomez, Mac Allister, Jones, Elliott, Gakpo, Diaz, Nunez
Subs: To follow
What do you think of the line up?
I like it. COYG!
Yes finally Havertz goal incoming
Do try to keep up.
Haha, I meant: Yes, finally, Havertz goal incoming.
Been waiting a long time for him to be given a go up top.
🙂
Come on give ESR a go…. could become the new Merse, without all the other stuff!
MA’s preferences as subs and alternatives are clear ESR comes after Vieira and Nelson, if Nelson is ineffective, maybe ESR will come up as a sub.
It seems pretty clear to me that ESR isn’t showing something he needs to in training. “But I’m better in games” doesn’t work with a lot of managers. I’d like to see him get on and make a strong case for himself.
Feedin scraps
Good to see Ramsdale get a chance. Hope havertz has a banger up top
Me too!
Although even if he has a world class game and saves 5 penalties, Arteta will still pick raya for the next game.
As he should until Ramsdale impresses well enough in training to displace Raya.
That involves showing a willingness to always play in the style the manager prefers.
@norwegianwood
“Willingness to always play in the style the manager prefers”
As in all the long passes reaching the opposition players and trying his best Ospina impression when is actually about goal keeping?
From Arteta’s last presser, his words:
“We have to play on the players’ strengths, that’s the first thing. I don’t want to put players to do things that they don’t feel comfortable doing, that’s the first principle that we have to apply, play everybody in their strength.”
Ramsdale could probably play like the combined top performances of Buffon, Neuer, Lev Yasin and Maradona (feet) every single training session and still not get a league game…
Oh dear. I’ll remember that the next time Raya hoofs it
Look, Arteta is in charge and he made his choice long time ago. Ramsdale is the number 2 goalkeeper for Arsenal now. We all have our thoughts valid or not but Arteta has us competing at the top end of the table so either we give him a chance to do his thing or we get rid of him because he has fcuked up our club by not selecting the starting 11 as we want it
This Ramsdale thing as a number 2? Well you’ve taken it to another level personally
*slow clap*
Well said, gooner.
Love a slow clap me, ta.
I think you guys miss the point which is especially important in the phase we’re in and that’s when we’re in a slump you need big personalities to get the team and crowd going. Ramsdale can do that, Raya can’t.
Not sure we will win but absolutely delighted he has not started nketia. Maybe he’s starting to see what most Arsenal fans can (though one fella on here called him a beast 😂 said he can link up play 😂😂) that’s he is simply not good enough for The Arsenal. Come on you gunners
Ya Eddie Eboue , had his chance time to move on . Kai is fine player either way but hope he does well , still won’t stop our need for a new 9 but all for kai in that role
Ironically, we would have been ahead at HT if we had Eddie on instead of Havertz
Ya decent physical and direct running pace up top , plenty power in midfield .
Let’s do these mugs
Smash the Mugsmashers!
Nelson? Oh dear.
Likely to be a physically tough game. Nelson better choice than Trossard. Martinelli Han’t been in his usual good form lately
I thought ESR was a certainty for this one.
Actual formation would probably have Ode up top and Rice at 10 while Kai occupies the left 8 space. All part of master plan to make us unpredictable.
😂
Didn’t see Nelson starting, his natural position is Sakas one as he’s so one footed, maybe Miki’s going to play the unpredictable card he has been talking of late and switches positions of both
My guess is that Jorginho has come in because Arteta knows Kiwior is not comfortable inverting, and Jorginho can help with ball progression. If Zinny was fit, we may have seen ESR starting, though that might just be wishful thinking.
COYG!!!
I’m happy for Reiss but we finally give him a start and it’s against Liverpool? Doesn’t feel like he is being set up to succeed.
Or maybe he is…
7 to 8 really good chances, no goals. They were the thickness of the crossbar from stealing and I mean stealing the lead. I cannot believe the lack of confidence with our finishing.
Perfect first half performance except for the finishing. The collective lack of confidence in front of goal is becoming a serious issue now.
Havertz does 50 first time passes in a game but is somehow allergic to taking a first time shot. Frustrating showing in the 1st half.
The WHOLE world can see that this team needs a deadly finisher… Funny thing is, a killer goalscorer will have a ripple effect on the other attackers. This is not rocket science.
The whole World can see it except Mikel Arteta apparently..
No going to win the league or fa cup!!!
Who says Arsenal cannot score goals.
That will be our only chance of a trophy this season down the drain.
We have a left back in Spain on loan but Arteta can only put his ego before the club.
And why bring on Troddars and ESR in the 89th minute?
Arteta has limited ideas and he has just run out of them I think
Trossard
This treatment of ESR is starting to get really irritating.
What the big deal is about Smith Rowe – he had a few good games about three years ago and all of a sudden he is the saviour of Arsenal.
He is not good enough. Never has been good enough. Never will be good enough which is why he never gets picked.
We need money to balance the books – the first thing would be to sell Smith Rowe.
Downhill from here..expect Arsenal to loose to Crystal Palace soon..
Just waiting for the statistics on our attempts. This is utter crap
Sell Kiwior now!!
Harvetz is too slow, you are not allowed much time to react in this country
I guess we have to wait for Pep Guardiola to change his tactics so our manager can copy his tactics and just hope that they work.
