Jesus out of Liverpool clash with minor knee injury

Gabriel Jesus will miss today’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool due to a knee injury which has been described as minor.

The Brazilian was expected to return to the starting line-up after being benched for the visit to Fulham on New Year’s Day.

In his absence, Eddie Nketiah is likely to be given the nod, although Mikel Arteta could deploy Leandro Trossard there, or rejig his midfield and push Kai Havertz up top.

Jesus has made 21 appearances this season from the Gunners 28 games, but he has suffered with a series of absences since picking up the serious knee injury during the World Cup at the end of 2022.

Let’s hope it’s nothing too significant, reports suggest that at the moment as it isn’t anything to worry too much about, and that the players involved today can do the business against Liverpool.

Please start Kai upfront, just give it a go! It gives us a whole new dynamic in attack.

I guess that’s one way of describing havertz’s “contribution” to Arsenal…not mine though…🤦‍♀️

Let’s hope for Trossard. Eddie just doesn’t seem to cut it and playing Trossard would give us a more dynamic front three. Eddie had his chance against Fulham and was awful (along with nearly everyone else to be fair).

Play Trossard false 9

Bleeding gums murphy

Please please please havertz or trossard up front. Not nketia ffs. He cannot hold the ball, link play, tackle, head or close down very well. Try something different 🙏🏻🙏🏻

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

All true.
Alas, he won’t do that.

First no Mohamed’s now no jesus, has God abandoned this game

In the name of Father, Son & his Holy Spirit we will be surely out of the Cup now.

Well I look forward to Eddie doing an Arshavin.
Sigh.

What does Arteta make them do in training? Bar Timber, I think most of our injuries this season are knocks in training. No wonder players are jaded during actual matches.

Jesus and Zinchenko rarely play more than two games in a row. And Zinchenko gets subbed after 60 mins usually. Both are fragile and big reason why pep let them go to one of his main rivals on the cheap!

Brian

I love that people get mad when you suggest Pep ripped us off. He knew what he was doing.

Bill Hall

On the plus side, Liverpool has way more injuries than we do and no Salah, never been a better time to play them!

Yeah Havertz upfront is definitely the answer…

Badaab

When partey eventually leaves will it be Jesus who takes up the diaby role in the treatment room?
