Rosiak relishing midfield opportunity for Arsenal U18s

When Arsenal reached the final of the FA Youth Cup last season Michal Rosiak played a key part in proceedings at right-back.

The prospect contributed with some crucial goals, while his overall performances were also often of a very high standard.

As Arsenal look to go one better in the Youth Cup this season Rosiak is again set to be heavily involved but this time it seems more likely that he will feature as a midfielder.

Rosiak was mainly a midfielder before switching to right-back and he has now reverted to primarily playing centrally.

The 18-year-old, who is the only player in his scholarship group to have progressed to professional terms so far, possesses an excellent passing range, while he also provides a significant threat from set-pieces.

Rosiak has been on the fringes of the Arsenal U21 team and featured as a late substitute at that level in the win over Middlesbrough last week.

When he is involved with the U18s Rosiak is often one of the most experienced players on the pitch and he has a part to play in terms of helping to guide his younger team-mates through the game.

With Josh Nichols capable of performing well at right-back it seems like Rosiak is now mainly seen as a midfielder.

He can still make an impact at right-back if required but Rosiak is relishing being used in midfield and will hope to feature in that position in the fourth round of the Youth Cup away to Liverpool on Saturday.
