Arsenal Conti Cup tie at London City Lionesses Postponed

Arsenal’s Conti Cup quarter-final against London City Lionesses at Princes Park has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Heavy rain fell in Kent overnight on Tuesday and, though that rain stopped at around 0430 on Wednesday, the pitch has been deemed unplayable.

The tie is now likely to take place next Wednesday evening, though this is still to be confirmed. In the meantime, the Gunners take on Manchester City in the FA Cup Fifth Round at Meadow Park on Sunday at 12.30pm.

Long old hike from Dartford or Greehithe stations to Bluewater and then on to Princes Park! Think I’d have been tempted to find something in Dartford town centre before heading up Princes Road! Irrelevant now unless you’re going to the rescheduled game.

There is bus

Do you get compensation?

I live in Dartford and th rain stopped at 0430 this morning. It’s appalling they couldn’t get this game on.

It’s near the top of the hill too so should drain quite quickly you would think on Kentish chalk. Apparently the inspection was at 14:30 but at least if there was doubt it was better to err on the side of caution rather than have the fiasco we have had before with only around an hour notice!
Hopefully, as a positive, it should mean a full strength squad with no injury niggles for the City game at the weekend!

Is that a haiku?

Oh well another couple of training sessions to get the defence in order I guess. Pretty sure we’ll create chances against City as they won’t just sit back and defend but we have to stop some potent attacking players scoring against us. Should we put Sarah between the sticks as she’ll probably command the area better than our other keepers?

Worst scenario would have been a very heavy pitch that was just about playable, but murder on the legs.

So I’m watching Brighton v Aston Villa instead. I was expecting to watch some football so I’m darn well going to watch some. Rooting for Villa, obv.
For which I apologise in advance to any Villa fans, since my support is usually the kiss of death.

Must be losing your touch then! 🙂 Went through on penalties.

It was a cunning use of the reverse jinx… 😉

The other three quarter-finals had a lower collective attendance than there would have been at Princes Park
