Well, that was fun. Arsenal humbled Sporting Lisbon 5-1 on their own patch, producing their best performance of the season in the process.
The result ended a run of five away games in Europe without a win and matched our best ever on the road in the Champions League. Not a bad day at the office for Mikel Arteta and the boys.

Now that was banging. A great performance from every player.
Dare I say it…..we’re back baby!!!
perfect night in the champions league
10/10 to Feyenoord for making Citeh stay humble
Hahahahah stay humble Erling
And Jurrien’s brother was involved
Saw a note that said if City keep this up their fans will go back to the teams they originally supported
Gabriel is the best CB in the worl right now, absolute MONSTER
Or 2nd best to Saliba
In a team stacked with oodles of lovable players, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But one thing is clear, Gabriel is up there among my top 3 in this squad! A warrior — he will die for the badge. And he doesn’t let any affront to the Arsenal name/badge slide away easily. Many said he did the Gyokeres celebration as revenge for that Sporting player who did the Xhaka celebration from a couple seasons ago. Not sure about that, but I just love the guy! Helps that he seems to be big on family too. 🎵🎵 our wall at… Read more »
Apart from that one goal we conceded, can’t really fault anyone tonight. That really was a complete and a mature performance by us!
Have we ever talked about odegaard’s ceiling? He has for the most part looked like a finished article because of his maturity. But sometimes we forget that he is still relatively young and can still improve even the skills he is already good at.
And in the last 2 games, it looks like he has stepped on to another level. It would be very interesting to watch him for the next few games.
Agreed, he is absolutely killing it. I think an obvious way he can raise his ceiling is by adding more goals. There was a time when he looked to be doing that, constantly scoring between 12-24 yards, but hasn’t happened so much of late.
I think Odegaard may be the best player I’ve seen in an Arsenal jersey since Bergkamp. He does everything, and he makes it all look so effortless.
Then I guess you slept from 1999 straight through to 2007? Most skilled, most magical or the most talented you’ve seen in an Arsenal shirt is up for debate, “best” isn’t.
Odegaard sensational. Partey back to top form, which I had doubted would happen at the start of the season. Thought Raya was quietly exceptional too. It is of course well accepted now, but a reminder that he really has raised our level, catching crosses, distributing well, and making good saves. Particularly enjoyed our first two goals, as any good Wenger era Arsenal fan would.
Fantastic performance, especially in the first half. Timber was immense, and it makes a big difference playing a proper right back there compared with Partey, who was also excellent in the middle. Shout out to Rice as well, feels like he’s struggled to get up to speed after the Euros but looked to be moving a lot freer today, his best performance so far this season along with against Liverpool.
That was so goodly enjoyable that I’m going to rewatch the whole game. More of that on Saturday , please
The technical level of this squad is sky high. Watching the lines spiral and swirl in a dance of geometric patterns the twisting and turning of our players and weaving something magical. Poetry. Well done
What a performance. No coincidence we are hitting top form just as Ø gets back in the line up. loving the Bergkamp comparisons – he’s that good.
Blogs, I don’t agree with your rating (7) for Zinny, he came on was really tidy played some beautiful balls, really forward thinking. He’s a baller. Give the man some love. Deserved at least the same as fellow sub EN at 7.5
Did anyone notice the sporting defense, after being shell shocked by Odegaards passing, desperately cut off the passing lanes for Nwaneri only to have him bolt into the space that opened up? The nightmares they will be having tonight. It made me laugh out loud.
