Ramsey eager to press play after career pause

Aaron Ramsey is looking forward to a full season of first team football at the Emirates after admitting that his horrific leg break effectively saw his career put on hold for 18 months.

The Wales international captain looks set for an important year under Arsene Wenger’s stewardship with many tipping the 20-year-old to build on his partnership with Jack Wilshere in light of the potentially imminent exits of both Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.

Citing the opportunity to play a full part in the Gunners pre-season training sessions and matches, Ramsey told press ahead of Wales’ match with Australia of his eagerness to impress:

“I’m really looking forward to the next 12 months,” said Ramsey. “I’ve had a full pre-season, which is a massive advantage, and I just want to kick on from last season.

“Before my injury, I was starting to play regularly and then everything came to a stop – it was as if someone had pressed the pause button on my career.

“Now I feel I am ready to carry on and, hopefully, improve.

“The two loan spells I had last season [at Nottingham Forest and former club Cardiff] really helped me regain my confidence and I felt I put in some good performances at the end of last season with Arsenal and, hopefully, I can get some more.

“I am just going to try to impress in training and in the game time I am given – I just want to play as many games as possible.”

Not blind to the press’ repeated bashing of Arsene Wenger or deaf to the boos which accompanied Arsenal’s Emirates Cup draw with the New York Red Bulls, the former Cardiff youngster made clear that with some defensive tweaking there remains enough quality to mount an assault for honours both at home and in Europe.

“Arsenal’s had a bit of stick, but none of the players take any notice of that. We know what we have to do on the pitch.

“There is no doubting our ability going forward, but maybe we need to stop conceding sloppy goals.

“We are always going to be a threat in getting goals, we just need to tighten up a bit. If we can do that, we will be there and thereabouts at the end of the season.

“We just want to win everything and give it our best shot and that’s why the Champions League qualifying game next week is so important.”

To be fair…. A fit Aaron Ramsey is as good as a new signing…

The Arsenal: Where “supporters” slag off their team making every game like an away game!

Just poking fun with no harm meant. Were you seriously criticizing me?

wow..!! people have such a blind spot for sarcasm..

If there’s any god, shawcross will have both his legs broken at the same time by some sort of voodoo doll obtained by wenger, who later when quizzed on tv about it exclaims “he did not see it” now that would be karma,.

Until then tho, I look forward to (hopefully) watching Ramsey achieve & win more things in football then shawcross could ever even have a wet dream about,..

Also shawcross is a cunt.

Sorry…Almost”….

I wish this kid all the best this season, but I do think he is 1 or maybe 2 years away from making an impact like Wilshire did last season. I hope he proves me wrong and plays “Super Quality” this season!

Sniff

Perhaps but I think he offers something different. He is a goal threat going forward and Jack has not added that element yet – but I’m sure it will come. I am pretty excited about what Ramsey will produce this season.

Ramsey still comes off as a bit raw sometimes, but he can only get better from now on. Wilshere is indeed a different type of player, he seems to be a holding mid who likes to get forward a bit whereas Ramsey is more attuned with the offense. It’d still be nice to have Wenger give Song some experienced competition in the ‘true’ holding role but that is obviously just a pipe dream now.

Probably not a name I should mention n this ‘blog, but Ramsey has always reminded me of Iniesta, in terms of his playing style. The early comprisons with Fabregas were as predictably lazy as those currently comparing the Ox to Walcott.

I see JW as both attack and defensive. He can do just as well whatever is asked or needed at the time. He for me is potentially Paul scholes with bells on ( as a player not a c-@t) . As with Ramsey he’s the real deal wit and see

SUPER AARON RAMSEY!

Kebabo

Just before Ramsey was injured (sorry, raped by an ogre) he looked a super quality player. I’m hoping we will see that quality again after he is back in the zone after a few games this season.

Press play, turn up the volume and make sure repeat mode is activated.
