Wilshere sure of new arrivals

Jack Wilshere says he trusts Arsene Wenger to bring new players to the club and says he’s sure there’ll be new faces in the Arsenal squad before the end of the transfer window.

[Insert bit here about lack of signings and something about Sanogo blah blah].

The England midfielder was speaking after Arsenal’s 2-2 Emirates Cup draw with Napoli, and said, “New signings and big players always bring confidence. The players get excited when they hear the names being splashed about.

“We’ll see what the manager does. We trust him and the club. I’m sure there will be some players coming in.”

Jack then did that thing that all footballers seem to do by talking about Luis Suarez while saying he shouldn’t really talk about Luis Suarez. To be fair, he was asked directly about him, saying, “He’s a top player and he showed that last season. He brings something different to the team and scores goals.
“He’s a great player, I’d love to see him here. But you never know.

“I can’t talk about other players. He’s still playing for another team so it’s disrespectful. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.”

[Insert suitably pithy ending with perhaps some kind of light-hearted comment designed to make reader the laugh away their Sunday hangover].

It’s there anyone associated with arsenal who said anything else then Wilshere. It would be travesty if Wenger doesn’t buy a top top top player..

Con Fucius

I’m certain Arsene is working on it. With all these players exiting and leaving gaps in the team, I’m sure he’s gonna pull a few signings out of this hat (coat?) soon enough. Relax and enjoy the game later on. Arsenal will be fine.

fencegooner

Im not particularly so much worried about wilshere leaving next year, he just signed a five year deal plus his “undying love” for Arsenal could put him through another year at arsenal if Wenger decides meh on marquee signings. im worried about koscienly, seeing him play like the world class C.B he is you just want him to be sorrounded by players of his calibre, plus he’s very outspoken which I like and I have no doubt in my mind that if we fail to strengthen he will leave. no doubt. just hope Arsene realises this early and does whats… Read more »

We all want Wenger to strengthen our squad with top quality players. Just for information, Yaya Sanogo scored 25 goals in 14 games when he was 14 and 18 in 18 games for under 16. There’s talent but he’s also had bad injuries.

lordgunner

well he sign some 19 years old future cunt from PSG few years ago, he score quiet a few for us and we won the league.. hopefully for him i hope he doesnt become Anelka II

Hulk

You know what Blog, I actually would love it if he became Anelka 2, we would win the league and make a monster profit on him and spend it on Henry 2. I think most would be happy with that.

Charlie

We have a good enough squad to win the five games or so before the windows closes. But we need to get those world class players in to beat the better teams and get us some trophies!

GoonR_SouthAfrica

Feeling a bit more positive about this transfer window don’t know why but somehow i know because Arsene knows

Voldermort

Arsene will buy. It will not be Suarez but I hope he stills goes for quality.
It’s not all About big names but we have a real need for proven top level players.
Just have to hope we have not left it to late to deal these deals. Other clubs will know we have a need for players so that could work against us.
I still have a small amount of faith left.

Julio Cesar, Fabregas, (insert defender of preference here) and Suarez. Cheers Wenger, thanks, all the best.

Jasonissimo

Would be nice, but I don’t entertain the idea that 70M buys you Suarez and Fabregas, let alone a quality defender, too.

OzGooner

How about Jackson Martinez, Di Maria and Gustavo. Three players that would definitely improve our squad and all of them will are obtainable for the right price. Do it Wenger! Enough of this Suarez BS my heart can’t take it.

Chopra_gooner

Do you guys think Lewandowski ( in the final year of his contract ) would be a good signing.
Or Chicharito, who’s not first choice at utd, could be a good signing. Any thoughts ?

Jasonissimo

Lewandowski is set on a move to Bayern, it’s well known and reported. Arsenal haven’t got a chance with him. Chicharito is a good poacher, so I’m not sure why he’s out of favor, seemingly, at Man. U. But Arsenal need more. We are light in numbers on the wings with Gervihno going, or in midfield, if you assume Cazorla can play on the wing. With our known need for a striker, Luis Suarez is an ideal target because he can play both positions–left wing and center forward. On another note, I think it unlikely that our vaunted 70M transfer… Read more »

WengersNoseHair

If we can’t get Suarez, then Hernandez is a good option, is he not? Who else is there? It seems like Chambo will take Gervinho’s place, and Chambo can play anywhere in midfield, so we are not that light on the wings. I don’t know why people keep saying Suarez can play on the wings. He only does it for Uruguay, and that’s because they insist on playing Forlan as the CF, with Suarez and Cavani out wide. Suarez doesn’t and wouldn’t play out wide for his club. He wants to be the main man playing centrally. Do you think… Read more »

SIGN DA TING LUIS!

2013-2014 = 2003-2004

I was going to say that Jasmeet. Guess bright minds think alike.

I’d prefer if we spent the money bringing pele baxk to life

Norn Iron Gooner

He isn’t dead you know….

Modhabobo

I fear the Arsenal players are going to be as disappointed as the fans when we sign no one of note, and come next summer, we will be saying goodbye to Wilshere, Kos, and any other semi decent player. Our years of stagnation have made us obsolete.

Bee

blah blah blah, yawn yawn yawn

luis luis luis!!!
pls mr wenger, we need this guy

in Arsene we trust

UP UP UP GUNNERS!!!

The only olivier is giroud

Fucking hell, last night I met this bloke from Cardiff, apparently they’re a bunch of nutters. Told me he once saw someone wearing one of their shirts stab a man on his way to work. Perhaps we should also sign some quality bodyguards for the away fixture!

Exiledgooner

The three grounds where I have felt properly scared were Stanford Bridge (pre-Abramovich and the glory seeking fans, when their hardcore nutter hooligan element was more prominent), St Andrews (they’re barely human) and Elland Road (you’d be hard pressed to find a viler, more hate filled group of scumbags). I’ve heard bad things about Cardiff too, though, although I’ve not been. Since my girlfriend is from East Yorkshire and I’m now in the North, I’m tempted to go the Hull game this year, although I’ve been warned that they too are pretty fucking awful. If they’re anything like the rest… Read more »

We’re top of the league, do we need new signings?!

JD

German papers suggest we are about to sign Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter. Would love that, he’s a huge talent imo. He’s also young and quite cheap.. sounds like us!

Goon

Besides the need for a striker, dm, defender. I think we need a winger too. Walcott needs competition!

RSAgooner

It would seem future captain jack is feeling agitated with this current crop, especially with the look on his face when he was subbed yesterday….

Denis

Funny because if that’s really the case, Jack was far from the best on the field yesterday. (I love him but let’s not kid ourselves here).

neutral

next a move for Bernard?

Would be a good Gervinho replacement.

Aaron McEvoy

I find it comical that many football fans (including Arsenal fans) think that a club as big and as well run as Arsenal only have £70M in the kitty? Come on now.

Gervinho going for £8M and other players off the books alone is going to make that ‘kitty’ bigger, lets not be naive.

mike

i reckon, going for bust we have about 130m we could conceivably spend without getting into financial difficulties such as paying off the rest of stadium and bank interest and loans ect, however i think anything close to this will seriously restrict our future transfers, we will again be limited in the market if we want to keep a buffer against ecconomic stresses like arsene seems to like, which to be fair to him is wise given the last crisis. a big spend i reckon plausible as a war chest would be 95m this season given the offing of deadwood.… Read more »

Andy Mack

For the right player then I think they would find much more. If Messi suddenly decided he wanted to leave Farca then AFC would find 100m plus, but they will not spend on players that don’t suit the systems, will not fit in with the squad or that are priced notably above their own valuations. And that’s where the problem is this year. PSG and Monaco have muddied the water but if uefa stands firm on FFP, the prices could well drop next season. So do they empty the ‘pot’ now or buy one now and expect to buy 3… Read more »

just to ask? I was looking forward to buy our 2013/14 home kit just to be informed we will retain the 12/13 one.is that true?

Double Canister

We change the Home Kit ever two years. There was a special 125 years home kit & crest.
next one is 1214/15 and apparently being made by Puma if rumors are true.
The purple abomination will now become our third choice kit, in case we end up playing teams with red/yellow home kits – like Galathaseray today.

goonero

Here we are in for mathias ginter, versatile german u 21 international. Not a huge name but who cares? Sounds like he fits the bill and covers us nicely where we need it ( can operate as a cb, lb, rb and cdm ). Was reoprted by the sun though… so yeah…

Double Canister

Apart from the Sun reporting it, it does appear promising. He sounds like a good versatile player and won’t go in a huff when not in the first XI. Why didn’t we do a straight swap for Coq? The likes of Caesar and Gustavo should be easy-peasy to pick up in the next two weeks. The squad will be nearly sorted then, with the exception of wingers or an out and out 30 goal a season striker. (Who could that be??) I think we a holding back on a good chunk of the transfer money, in case we need to… Read more »

WengersNoseHair

I wonder why people think Gustavo will be easy to buy. He is an important part of Bayern, he started 16 times in the league for them last season.

Andy Mack

We haven’t sold Coq, he’s on loan to get some 1st team game time.
Hopefully he’ll develop that last little bit to get him a regular game here next season.

Without wanting to repeat myself, read the section ‘Clubs’ here. Interesting! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthias_Ginter

Ha ha! Look at this. I was justing reading about Matthias Ginter on Wikipedia and if you read under the section ‘Club’, it says “Mathias Ginter signed a 4 year deal with Arsenal FC on the 4th of August, 2013.”

They’re using the past tense about something which they say is going to happen tomorrow. Strange.

Still, if there is anything in the rumours, it looks like a good signing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthias_Ginter

WengersNoseHair

Yes, it is Wikipedia after all. People edit it to say silly things all the time, but eventually it’s corrected again.

shuggietodd

I know, I know. Still, I don’t care if he’s 19, would be a good signing I think. I think that next week will be the week we finally spend some money.

WengersNoseHair

It still won’t be the big name signing that everyone wants, but yes, it would be a nice addition to have such a versatile youngster.

NorthBankLife

Lets hope Sanogo isn’t made out of same tissue paper that Diaby is.

davidnewzealand

Coming fourth has complicated things. The top signings are waiting for us to qualify for the ECL proper. The team we have will now have to beat Villa, Fulham and Spurs and the two ECL qualifiers. We are lucky we have a soft start to the season with the first big EPL gun not till game 11.

Goonerific

Spurs isn’t a big game? They have re-enforced, we haven’t.

adejorin abdullahi

I dont think mathias ginter’s deals is real u can recheck from wikipedia

i jst dnt feel cesc bck at us… He fumbled n tripd n left us drownin wen we needed him the most… Arsenal mst jst work on the current playerz…

@Fencegooner u said something gud but spoiled it at d end. Wenger has nothing to realize. Its only the club dat would soon realize their approach to issues is killing the club. Yes wenger does lik asking club to bring in players excessively. He said it to d whole world where he feel his team is soft. Falliani, higuain, victor, jov, Williams; these are the players wenger personal staff contacted n recommended to the club. And said also dat he would love to have his players before during preseason. Bt wat has d club done? Nothing. There only concentrating in… Read more »
