Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Thomas Vermaelen is back in full training and could make the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Sunderland.
The skipper has been sidelined since the summer with a back injury, but Wenger said, “Vermaelen is back in full training. He is very close to being available and he could be in the squad on Saturday.
“It is more likely to be Wednesday, but there is a possibility he might still travel on Friday to Sunderland.”
Tomas Rosicky misses out with Wenger suggesting his thigh problem is a hamstring strain, while young striker Yaya Sanogo might be set for a spell on sidelines with the Arsenal manager saying, “Sanogo has a back problem. He came back from the first game of the France Under-21s with it. He is certainly out for Saturday.”
Serge Gnabry, fresh from scoring the winner for the U21s against West Brom last night, is likely to make the bench.
And I am backkkkkkkk
They see me rollin’
Keep on hatin’
Why is there a man united ad beneath the comments section
All is see is an ad for garbage bags..
Goes to show what kind of stuff you’re Google-ing 😀
Are you a binbagger ?
Ad are linked to site you’ve been browsing. Is there anything you want to tell us?
I’m getting advertisements for Calculus books. Not sure how to take that.
You don’t saaaay!
Before getting back to his best he might heck will fuck up along the way, just hope the ‘bashers’ keep their pie holes shut. it’s never the solution….
Oh, depth. Welcome.
Per and Kos are quite cemented at the moment.
Guess players get burned out after a while and need a rest, but I don’t see Vermaelen as a bit part player.
His talent is immense, and it would be awesome if he tries out a few new positions – though it’s hard to see with his comments like, “It gives me no pleasure to play at LB.”
I’m sure he could make it as a striker. He’d be LANS.
And i am thankful for that. He is horrible at LB, mostly caught up in 2 minds, late to join attack and late to drop back. Also, got skinned a lot.
Vermalen has an absolute hammer of a left foot and he’s more agile and quicker than Giroud and Poldi combined. Why not try him as a striker? In yestserday’s press-conference when questioned about Ozil’s playing position, Wenger answered “Ozil will predominantly play in the No10 spot behind the striker(s)”… (plural!) and made one of those sly grins of his. Could this mean a radical change of formation from 4-2-3-1 to 3-2-3-2? ManShitty play with two strikers. Italy’s national team play with three defenders. It’s great to have a worldclass central-midfield which is overflowing in quality (and quantity) but what do… Read more »
So you want a striker, false 9 and a #10? Then a CM DM and 3 at the back… Brilliant. Jusy ask the FA to half the width and double the lengths of all the football pitches and we’ll be gold. Our boys can dress fancy and limbo-line their way to goal.
Arsene tends to refer to the front 3, including wingers, as “strikers”
Vermaelen as a 3rd choice CB and they say we have a poor defence.
Better than Evans or Smalling
Combined
Our bench on Saturday could see Nacho, Jenks and Vermaelen from a defensive point of view and who from an attacking point of view?
And they still try to claim we didn’t need someone like Ozil.
Offtopic: But bendtner makes me sick, You get paid £52,000 a week and all you’re asked to do is stay fit and train. is that too much to ask?
The guy looks like he ate denmark! January couldn’t come sooner, need to see the back of him asap!
He looks like a snake who ate a human being in movies like anaconda, or other python movies…
Our very own Danish pastry.
Getting injured generally leads to a loss of fitness.
fat or (not)fit, that is the question. He looks like an expro who’s been out the game for a year…which is basically what he was.
Dear Mr Blogs,
Since you are the DIY expert, please can you tell us, if we hit Bendtner with a spanner, will he start working?
Kind Regards,
WNH.
P.S. What about if we twist his knob?
What about Arteta? I fucking miss him!
Yeah, buddy. And the silence about him is sadeningly deafening!
he is starting light training probably 2/3 weeks behind vermalaen
Verming them soon, resp
TV5..that guy is a fighter
Could envisage Vermaelen as DM cover sheilding centre backs and getting opportunity to burst forward as he likes to do from CB.
Not such a good idea because
(1) We have Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshire, Flamini, Diaby (ahem) who play at DM, and even Rosicky and Chambo can fill in there.
(2) Only Mertesacker and Koscielny as proper CBs other than Vermaelen.
(3) Being a good CB doen’t necessarily mean being a good DM. At any rate, Wenger would be the man to know if Vermaelen can succeed there, rather than arm-chair coaches like ourselves.
What a plus to have him back !!!
Here is to us putting a few goals past Sunderland 🙂

Yea yea yea… I need me some Özil Story
Can’t seem to have enough of Mesut Özil ….. #Anticipating
Looking forward to seeing Ozil tomoz.
This article is secretly about Ösil, right?
Talking about Ösil, can´t wait for tomorrow. But as we all know, Arsenal supporters are not allowed, by the Almighty Gods of Cuntery and Injustice, to be merry more than one week at a time. I´m expecting a close defeat due to a cunt of a ref with Ösil sidelined for 6-8 weeks.
Özil. It’s four fucking letters. Get it right!
And as for the credibility behind your prediction, well that’s almost as good as your spelling.
It must have taken some effort to get the umlaut in there and still miss out on the ‘z’. Top notch work. Moyes has a job waiting for you, my friend…
With little room for a specialist holding player in the Gunners’ slick pass-and-move system, and Arteta and Ramsey proving a combative duo, an enforcer is no longer a top priority Bet £5 £10 £20 £50 £100 =SUN£55Draw£36ARS£16.7 COMMENT By Ewan Roberts Given that the beginning of Arsenal’s now eight-year trophy drought coincided with the loss of one of the finest, most domineering midfielders in Premier League history, it is perhaps easy to see why supporters have associated the absence of a player of Patrick Vieira’s ilk with the growing layer of dust in the Emirates trophy cabinet. As Arsene Wenger… Read more »
This is actually good stuff, worth reading.
you made me read it
lol this is taken of Goal.com. Not a bad article, probably should just credit the source though.
So is Verm as a DM totally crazy? He does seem to like bombing forward.
No Mertesacker for Sunderland then, Verms early return very fortunate in that case, although I’d probably prefer to have Sagna in the centre instead of rushing Thomas back.
You playing a dangerous game friend. Flirting with the dreaded thumbs down.
I was a bit worried by the headline to this one. Had the Verminator been transferred to the Black Cats without us knowing anything about it? How else could an Arsenal player make the Sunderland squad?
