Olivier Giroud has eased fears about his fitness by insisting he’ll be ready for this week’s Champions League tie against Marseille.
The HFB put hearts in mouths as he pulled up late in the 3-1 win over Sunderland, but says it’s nothing too serious.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said, “It is not bad. I twisted my ankle but, fortunately, it is nothing major.
“Marseille? Yes, I am OK, I will be fine.”
It’s good news for Arsene Wenger’s men, especially as Giroud is the only recognised striker at the club. The manager was forced to bring on youngster Chuba Akpom for his debut and with the form the Frenchman has been in he’d be a big miss for the Gunners.
He’s scored 5 times already this season and is setting his sights on the Golden Boot.
“With this team I can score many goals,” he said. “Can I finish the league’s top scorer? I must have a chance.”
Thank god
*Bergkamp
Off-topic, but I’d be tempted to start Podolski on the left and drop Walcott to the bench once he is back fit. With the orgasm-inducing through balls of Özil and lethal finishing of Podolski, I can’t wait to see these two combine. And I am sure, Santi will be as effective on the right as he is on the left.
girrrooouudd! World class- and you’ll all agree by the end of this season!
Wenger knows.
Wenger based on Giroid, ramsey, et all should be acknowledged with a new life time contract. he sees something in players that we don’t. a year ago I thought “not this french bloke giroud!, go for someone else world class and why is he still holding on to ramsey?” but here we are now.
The F.A should also hand him a honorary something for introducing a unique way to play football…they call it beautiful I hear. best manager in world and looks like everything is setting up nicely for the good ol’ glory days!
Handsome French Bloke.
Not going to lie, when HFB first started floating around I thought it meant Hot French Bastard. Which I might prefer actually. Though I think Rambo is our hottest player 🙂
(wow that was a superficial post)
Giroud declares himself fit… my gosh, don’t we know it!
Not only is our only recognised striker, he was also top scorer of the ligue 1, the season before he came to us. Marseille should be familiar to him. It seems he’s back where he left, if not better, in terms of form. Top man.
Thank Bergkamp for that
Come on HFB!
Thank Bergkamp… After Saturday’s performance, I would be very nervous with Theo as the lone striker. I honestly cant wait for Podolski to get back and provide some backup. I find myself pissing myself every time the HFB gets into a tackle.
Love this attitude from The HFB: “Can I finish the league’s top scorer? I must have a chance.”
He´s third on this list, so it would not seem very ambitious of him to say he didn’t have a chance:

Also, the odds for us winning the league are almost exactly the same as the odds for Giroud to be top scorer.
I think we’ll win it if and only if Giroud gets 30 this season. If he does, I’ll put a poster of him on my bedroom wall, wife or no wife.
“Wife or no wife.” Love it 🙂
If you watch the game while she’s about she may just have that poster up before you do.
And masturbate to it.
“wife in room or no wife in room!!”
Praise da lawd!
This guy is absolutely fantastic. He is such a joy to watch with his slick and intelligent passing, positioning and strength. I think we all would enjoy him being the top scorer, if not just for the sake of shoving it in the face of the Dutch skunk.
nananananananananana Giroud!!!
I noticed that the Crystal Palace fans are now utilising the same chant, except instead of “Giroud” (obviously) they say “Palace”. Um, that doesn’t rhyme guyz. And thus removes the cuteness of the chant altogether. Why are football supporters so dim.
MMMMMM, It IS a chant that goes back to about 1969 in its many guises.
You’re missing one ‘na’. Yes I counted
In fact he has had on ‘na’ extra. I counted thrice.
I was thinking something along the lines of:
Hey Giroud, don’t make it bad
Take a sad goal and make it better
Remember to let us into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Needs a wee bit of work… Actually, on reflection, quite a lot
Phew!
I got him at 50-1 e/w for the golden boot before the season started. Looking like a good call!
‘Lovely cross from Walcoot; its GIROUDDDD AGAAAAAAIINNN GOAAAAALLLLLL’
I think we should have him on the bench against marseille. With the orks up next he is bound to get lumps kicked out of him. Chuba had a good preseason maybe start with him. I think we can win this without HFB.
it’s the CL for bergkamp’s sake
I’d say not, with the other teams in our CL group. We need three points from this match (and the return leg), and something from the other four fixtures, if we stand a chance to progress. So bench it shall not be for HFG – we need his goals this week.

Me and my girlfriend have a crush on him
He’ll fit for any girls dreams any time though..
HFB should definitely start. With our CL group being what it is, we need maximum points from the matches with Marseille.
Giroud is ALWAYS fit. Very.
(that said in the most manly voice I can manage. After swooning)
Lawdddd a merci
Leave it for Wenger to decide the lineup. I hate Suares behavior but I would love to see him in Arsenal shirt converting those thru passes from Ozil that poor Theo could not convert. Those chances went out begging… Come on Theo!
I can live with Theo as long as he gives up his ridiculous pretenses to take the free-kicks. I mean, seriously… .
I don’t know man. Pretty good player, but I can see him being an extremely irritating roommate.
From now until Jan 1st, it’s shit your pants time every time Giroud goes down holding his leg.
Get used to it.
True.
But it is nice that its going to be shit your pants time for defenders whenever he is upright 🙂
Let’s see how our HFB holds up. As important as the Marseille game is in the context of our tough group, I’d be okay with us resting his golden left foot. We need to consolidate our premiership form and momentum, and not underestimate our rivals. Over the last couple of seasons we’ve shown our best league form after exiting this intense competition.
Still in awe of some his touches on Saturday – the flick that bamboozled two of their defenders and left Theo with only the keeper to beat was the best non-goal moment of the game.
we could do with a Suarez type player alongside HFB instead of Wallcott
Exactly! We need a buffoon/psycho out wide to distract/terrify the oppostion, thus taking their attention away from Giroud.
Thinking outside the blah blah blah and all that, very nice.
I work at a small French company with lots of French blokes at the office. Most support PSG and couldn’t give a toss about English football or Arsenal but they all tell me that during his 2nd-season at Montepelier, Olivier Giroud was fucking POSSESSED. Apparently he single-handedly destroyed Paris St. Germain in a key match at the Parc de Princes late in the season, and Montpelier eventually won Ligue 1 and Giroud their Golden Boot. Now in his second season at Arsenal, look closely and you’ll notice that everything about HFB looks a tad different to last year. He’s even… Read more »
A little off subject but I’d like to thank Blogs for a great Arseblog post this morning. And like him, I’d like to thank the players for stepping up (as they have been doing since March IMHO). I’d like to thank the manager for believing in this wonderful group of players and for giving them the confidence to overcome their adversities. I would hate to see him talk about our lads the way Mourinho spoke about his players after their defeat at Goodison. And I’d like to thank the fans that stood by this wonderful club of ours and supported… Read more »
Just gave me goosebumps. Thank you.
WE are Arsenal!
Looking forward to the Marseille game very much. Can’t wait for us to rip the Orc army a new one on the weekend as well. Giroud to score in both games..
Giroud had a moment in the first half against Sunderland where inside the box he flicked/lobbed a ball from the ground over two defenders heads and into Theo’s path. It was literally awe-inspiring.
If someone had told me it would be Ramsey, and especially Giroud driving us on this season with their sheer brilliance, I would have told them to fuck right off. So, so pleased for both of them.
…and Theo anticipated it beautifully! Least he’s working the keeper almost every shot he takes like ol’ Shearer. That Giroud touch reminded me of his assist for Podolski’s volley against Montpellier last season.
Just saw your reference to the same move above there, nice. With Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ramsey and even Giroud threading delightful passes into him you just know it’s only a matter of time until Theo starts smashing them home. Some poor, beleaguered defence are in for a torrid match in the near future.
Honestly can’t express my giddiness at Giroud’s form enough. He’s unplayable atm, overflowing with confidence.
I love this HFB of a guy.just dont stop putting those balls away and you can have my girlfriend…… Lets give him the support he deserves.
Thank Bergkamp for this. I knew about his tweet, but hell, I’ve seen some shit on Twitter which all turned out to be bollocks. Glad he’s OK- Giroud to open the scoring again on Wednesday! COYG!

That Bergkamp he’s fit. And handsome. Don’t forget handsome.
Girozil, Garzola, Giroulcott, Gramsey, Gribbs, Gidolski – He links up so well.
Great to hear he is fit, his finishing is much more composed at this point than last season, it was always going to take some time to adjust and he has. I’ve been really impressed with his physical side of the game too, he looks leaner and is giving defenders problems when backing into them and winning headers, saying this we really could do with some backup for him, last thing we need is to run him into the ground.
Really looking forward to the Champions League this year, tough group but should see some cracking games in our group..
I may be the only one saying this in the entire Goonersphere, but for the sake of not risking Giroud for the PL campaign we should play Walcott upfront against Marseille. He didn’t have the best game in terms of finishing against Sunderland, but there were positives, the runs he made were fantastic and was positive all game. Unlike other games where he hides away, he chose to be on the receiving end of some great through balls.
