It’s the news you’ve all been waiting for…Chu-Young Park has been selected by South Korea for the first time in 13 months reigniting his hopes of playing in this summer’s World Cup.
The striker, who joined Watford on loan at the end of Janaury, has largely been ignored by his country since moving to Arsenal with a lack of playing time and the controversy over his postponed national service both blotches on his copy book.
The 28-year-old has scored 23 goals for his country in 61 games, the last of which came in November 2011, and also bagged a couple for the South Korea under-23 side as they won the bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics.
He’s not had much playing time at Watford yet, one appearance off the bench in the 90th minute by the looks of things, but the latest news should come as a tonic. He’s free to leave Arsenal at the end of the season after a, quite frankly, odd three years.
Every cloud…
…has a smaller cloud inside it sort of like a Russian doll?
Who?
Oh well…
Who’s Park?
I’m normally pretty good for reading all the AB news stories. But I missed any news about him joining Watford. He really is quite the anonymous man.
Thank you Arseblog for (at least attempting to) cheer us up with this.
Onto another bright note, Team GB are doing quite well in the curling.
Ive read an article of how he’s been mistreated , training by himself , living in a hotel and all……Happpy for the lad
I heared he washes Wenger’s car
Fantastic news!
Might have sold a few Arsenal shirts in South Korea. Probably not a bad signing from that perspective.
Two years ago in 2012, he played for the Under 23’s. He’s 28 right now. Wat?
He’s aged so much since then. By the way, the national teams are allowed to field 3 overage players for these under-23 competitions.
Can’t even get into the Watford team? What’s going on with this guy?
I’m convinced the reason he signed for Arsenal was because he was in a Witness Protection program trying to dodge the South Korean Draft.
Still better than Park Ji Sung though.
Didn’t he score a goal vs Bolton?
he’s been with us for three years already?
wow, time flys when you’re having fun.
Anyong.
i wonder how the kimchi he gets in London compares to his mother’s o.0
I bet he will be one of the stars of the world cup
..making us wonder even more.
Not why he was bought, but why he didnt play…and why Wenger didnt extend his contract.
Good luck to him.
Wasted 3 years of his career albeit a well paid waste.
