Ryo: I’ll keep my feet on the ground

Ryo Miyaichi made his Arsenal debut last night and although he’s come a long way in the space of 12 months he’s not getting carried away.

He arrived at Arsenal, via a loan spell at Feynoord, having impressed on a trial this time last year.

“One year ago I was still in Japan, playing high school football”, he told Arsenal Player. “I didn’t even think I’d be playing here, but now I need to keep my feet on the ground and work hard.

“To play for Arsenal is a big honor and I’ve been happy every day and happy playing with the great players here”.

The Japanese youngster says he’s ready to play in the Premier League or Champions League if called upon, but is aware of the importance of the Carling Cup to developing young players.

“I know the Carling Cup is for the young players to be educated, so I knew I had to use this opportunity to go forward, and then play in the league itself”.

Arsene Wenger spoke earlier in the week about the qualities Miyaichi will bring to the team. “He has pace, attitude, efficiency in what he is doing and complete commitment”, he said.

Arsenal fans will be looking forward to seeing more of him in the next round of the Carling Cup, at least. And let’s hope that when he shines he really shows us all he can.

You ought to be banned from the internet for that last sentence.

[…] Chamberlain spoke of his happiness to have started, and so did Ryo Miyaichi. Can’t say I saw much of Miyaichi in the highlights though, so no comments on […]

Djourou kept his feet on ground all right.

Something something cones.

what no one has said

Ryo Miyaichi looks like an Asian Arshavin.

Hopefully he plays like Arshavin at his bestest best on a consistent level since he’s such a hardworking Japanese. Remember the 80’s Japan?

George Blazenby

He seems to have bulked up a bit which is good. Maybe it’s just the new crew cut though
