Wenger: Ramsey very down after injury

Arsene Wenger says that Aaron Ramsey is feeling ‘very down’ after he limped off the pitch during the 2-0 win over Bayern Munich this evening.

The midfielder pulled up with what was a hamstring strain early in the second half, replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and although there’s no official time frame yet, it’s usually a 3 week minimum.

After the game, the Arsenal manager said, “He is alright but very down because he told me that his hamstring is quite a tough one. He is out.”

And the removal of Alexis seemed precautionary also after his gruelling recent spell.

“Alexis, you could see he was a bit jaded physically tonight and he still pushes himself so much but he finished exhausted. The two games with Chile, plus travelling, plus Watford, plus tonight, it is too much.”

It seems obvious we’ll have to shuffle a bit for Saturday, but we can worry about that closer to the time.

Good Stuff

Let’s hope it’s worth it! Sure feels that way right now…

AS17

Maybe it was worth it for one game. but I was just wondering if the injury gods chose Ramsey for a reason.
I dont like it that he is injured, am a big fan of his, but atleast its Ramsey not Alexis or Coq or Cech for that matter. It could have been worse. Just saying.

Like there is an unwritten rule that atleast one player must get injured vs Bayern.

Emirates Posse calling in… Love you Rambo Return to us soon Alexis was shattered but everywhere This was one game too many for him ( my opinion) The Ox needs to concentrate and up his gameplay The opportunity is there for him Nacho, LeCoq Cečh Kos was superb Theo had chances, Gitoud took his. But for me Bellerin was just marvellous throughout They targeted him in the first 15 minutes but their no.11 got owned They also targeted Nacho, but he was magnificent The majority of the Emirates crowd stayed until the end A good night for Arsene Tactics ….… Read more »

Time to put Sanchez in cryo sleep pod!!! Get well soon Rambo…

Sad to see him go off injured. Ox now has his chance to prove he’s worth a place in the starting 11.

“It seems obvious we”ll have to shuffle a bit for Saturday”; no way! Apart from the obvious one of Ox coming in for Ramsey, those boys will be raring to go on Saturday. Alexis may just have been feeling down cos he couldn’t influence the game as he would have wanted.
We have the COC cup midweek; all the shuffle will be done then I guess. We need 3 points on Saturday and that puts us on top of the log for 24 hours at least. What psychological boost that would be. I believe.

Mark

Sucks that he is hurt now as he has been a key player for us, really leaves us a bit short now in the attacking side as Sanchez will have to play every match unless Wenger goes with Giroud up top and Walcott wide (which he hasn’t done for a long time). This will be an opportunity though for Chamberlin to come into the squad for a few matches to prove where he is now. Another option could be Bellerin at right wing and give Debuchy some time.

Get well soon Rambo! The hardworking lad litterally ran himself to the ground. Let’s hope it’s not a long lay off. They allowed him to walk himself of the pitch which I can only believe is a (relatively speaking) positive sign…

roswelch

Rest Sanchez, start with Walcott and Ox on the wings with Giroud up top..?

Walcott's left footed curl

I think Alexis doesn’t even listen when the manager picks his team, he just puts on his jersey and marches on to the field and whomever tries to tell him otherwise will be eaten by his beautiful, yet murdery, dogs.

AnonymousGun

Why am I laughing at this?

It feel so in character for him.

Runkeball

I was surprised that Sanchez played against Watford considering his injury and the use he got playing for Chile. Can we afford to rest him against Everton? Maybe not but the consequences of running him injured week after week may be long term as opposed to a few games. I hope he’s rested against Everton.

Get well soon Welsh Jesus!

Arsepedant

I think Sanchez will play against Everton and be rested against Sheffield. Tuesday to Saturday is plenty of time to recover from even a match as gruelling as this. The only question is whether Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in as a straight replacement for Ramsey, or Walcott shifts wide right and Giroud starts up front. Personally, I think having Walcott and Giroud both on at the same time is a recipe for goals, but we’ll see what The Boss does.

gooner balls

I think the Walcott / Giroud parternship is only something the fans want. In reality the Boss hasn’t done that for over a year now (or at least nearly a year). Since Walcott returned from injury, he simply has not featured on the wing. Not sure what the whole story is, but obviously the Boss doesn’t like it… and really dont see that changing now that Walcott is genuinely challenging for the position up top. Ox in for Ramsey is almost a guarantee, me thinks… But now we seriously need Rosicky, Wellbeck, Jack et al to come back. The games… Read more »

Now where the hell is fatgooner hiding?

I dont mind fatgooner see he does make some good points at times my only criticism is hes only around when things aint going well….

Gooners & Roses

If only Welbeck, Rosicky, and Jack are fit, Wenger would not has to worry so much!

Arsenalnut

I really hope the Ox can take his chance here. For whatever time Ramsey is out its his spot to win or lose. Ramsey’s injury also means that Campbell will get some starts because the Ox can’t play every game. Indulge me for a moment here. If it were possible to trust either Debuchy or Chambers at right back I’d love to see Bellerin given a shot at right midfield. He’s going to be more defensively sound than the Ox or Campbell and he will cause defenders to shit themselves. Add his speed to Walcott’s and Alexis’ and its hard… Read more »
