A few weeks ago stories emerged that Arsenal had poached Leicester City scout Ben Wrigglesworth. He was part of a scouting set-up that unearthed players like Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante, both of whom arrived from Ligue Un, and have been instrumental in the Foxes’ title challenge.
Tonight, Wrigglesworth confirmed the move via Twitter, changing his status to ‘First Team Video Scout @Arsenal’
“After 3 + 1/2 unbelievable seasons, working with amazing people, I am now starting a new chapter. It was a very difficult decision, leaving Leicester, but I had to take an opportunity that doesn’t come round often.
“I only wish the best for Leicester in the future, and will always be eternally grateful to them for getting me to where I am.”
So, another addition to our backroom staff, and some fresh new blood added to a scouting team that could certainly use it. An interesting appointment all round.

I guess so. Still seems pretty silly to me that a team would hire a guy to watch YouTube videos at all in search of the next Mahrez. Why can’t I get that job?

Either way it’s good to see that working for us is an “opportunity that doesn’t come round often”. We need this season to be a success for high rated players to be convinced so as well.
