Van Persie hails Henry return

Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie has welcomed the return of Thierry Henry with open arms and is sure the former captain can have a big influence on and off the pitch.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, van Persie said, “It is fantastic. He is unbelievable, even in training. He had a couple of sessions and – I don’t want to put too much pressure on him – but he is looking right up there. He is looking very good. He knows when to drop, he knows when to make a one-two. He knows all these things. I am looking forward to it so much.”

In recent seasons there has been criticism that Arsene Wenger relied too much on youth, allowing them to make their own mistakes without necessarily giving them enough experience around them to guide them, and while the summer recruitment has gone a long way to solving that, the Dutchman says that Henry is already sharing the knowledge of his long and distinguished career.

“The younger guys are all looking up to him,” said van Persie. “Everyone is sharing that feeling. Before the [QPR] game I saw him speaking to Francis Coquelin with the ball, showing him how to run. He is doing a great job already.”

Henry’s return comes just too late for him to play against Fulham today but with the need to rest Robin van Persie and preserve his fitness, what odds on him starting the FA Cup game against Leeds next Monday?

And just in case anyone needs reminding of one of his finest ever Arsenal performances, well, have a go at the video below.

Fans spirits lifted. Job done. Always a legend!

Cygan's Left Foot

Can’t wait to watch him do the Bergkamp rule for RVP. Also, to see Jack play with a true great even for a couple of games.

SmokingGunner

Jack has played with RVP.

New York Gunner

I don’t care whether this is a forward or a backward move, I am just happy to see the legend one final time in red and white. And just imagine if he scores one of those typical Thierry Henry goals.

Jermaine Pedant

Thierry coming back works on so many levels. And if RVP says he’s still unbelievable, who are we to argue. Welcome home, King Henry!

I’m extremely excited too, but I’m also very interested to see if he can contribute in the side at his advanced age. Personally, I think he can, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I think we’ll need another viable striking option in the long-term, including this season from March to May. I’m afraid though that Wenger might not buy this window, because after all “we have a big squad already” and Gervinho and Chamakh will be back at the end of February. Plus, I could imagine him preferring to wait and see what happens with RVP this summer before… Read more »

I of course, have succumbed to transfer mania. Sign Podolski and a competent full back because with the way things are shaping up we could definitely make a strong push for the top, maybe not win it, but come pretty damn close. Welcome back Henry and let’s go Gunners!

I have a strong feeling that TH12 is not gonna be the only January signing… Dnt pay too much attention to what Arsene says to the media

Maybe its wishful thinking, but we cnt exactly announce to the footballing world that we have money and we’re willing to use use it – prices will escalate

And even if im wrong, my all time favorite player is back for 2 months – thats good enough for me 🙂

I really do wonder just what this means for Park. AW said a while ago that Park’s acclimatization was over and I’d expected this would mean he’d be an automatic alternative to Gervinho and/or Chamakh once the ACN began. But here we are in January and now TH looks first alternate to RVP. What the hell’s going on? We’ve all seen how disappointing Chamakh’s been for months now. Yet Park’s hardly had a sniff. Is he the new Carlos Vela? It’s not as if Park’s universally out of form. He’s been scoring goals for South Korea virtually ever time he… Read more »

AW’s been saving Park for Leeds.

Watched The Invincibles DVD a couple of weeks back, Christmas telly being the usual shit.

I laughed out loud at the highlights of this game and the goals he scored, but best of all for me was seeing the moment we won the league.

Of course we won it at the Shit’ole but the actual moment, after a dodgy week or so where we looked like we might do the usual, was the home game against Liverpool.

We’d been behind, and recovered, then Henry gets the ball 40 yards out…… fuckin awesome.

Josh

Im so excited to see him play again 😀

Mike Hawke

Perhaps him and Park will play in a 442 against Leeds. That would work right?

Butthead

I can’t fucking believe Arsenal “FANS” are mailing into F365 (hate that cunt site but I keep visiting) moaning about getting Henry on loan. Seriously what the fuck? La gente esta muy loca…

Cmno u SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terry henry is still nuffing compared to are legends!
we got robbi keane and adebayor from are youth sistem and urs is shit
butthead ur a nerd

Terry Henry – legend. Nuff’ said.

And really, it says loads about our great club, that one one the greatest players of the modern era is happy to re-sign and probably sit on the bench for most of the time -come on you reds!

Bob

Ahhhh those were the days, where teams would actually push out and leave a bit of space in behind, so the legend could work his magic (although we all know he didn’t always need it!). Now we just see them park the bus for 90 mins 🙁
