Emi Martinez reveals his Arsenal intention

Emi Martinez says it’s his goal to become the number 1 goalkeeper at Arsenal, despite the fact he’s currently third in the pecking order behind Petr Cech and David Ospina.

The 24 year old isn’t fazed though, and says he won’t rest until he’s fulfilled his ambition.

Sounding like a villain in a superhero movie, he told Arsenal Player, “Year by year I’ve been growing, getting bigger, more powerful and so I thought, ‘Why not?’

“You expect to be in the squad at the end of the week and I’m not, so that’s why I have to do something about it. The chance will come so I need to be ready.

“I always believe in myself,” he continued. “I was a big player at my former club in Argentina so I can be a big player here. I believe in that and I won’t stop until I’m the Arsenal No 1.”

And on his time at the club that he joined as a teenager, he said it’s a big part of why he wants to make it.

“Arsenal is like a family,” he said. “It’s my club and I’ve been here for seven years so it feels like home. I’m here early for breakfast and I’m one of the last to leave.

“I really enjoy it here so that’s the reason why I have to be positive.”

You really can’t fault the attitude, but he’s got some amount of work to do to make that position his.

Martinez has made three EFL Cup appearances this season, but has yet to feature in a Premier League game in this current campaign.

If he was any good at 24 surely a decent club would have come for him by now.

Double98

He’s not for sale.

if only this attitude can be replicated by the first team players, then i think we could be the team to beat in bpl. I hope he stays ready when the chance comes calling.

What’s bpl?

Bloody premier league

Keepers bloom much later on and i’m not sure he’s there yet. He needs regular football – I never quite understand why we don’t loan keepers much lower down the league pyramid, as we did with Ryan Huddart this season – when Martinez has gone to places like Wolves he’s found himself benched behind more experienced keepers.

Bring back Szczesny!!!

By all accounts he’s a quality keeper, but we already have Cech, Ospina and Sczce… Szczez… Szzzz… Wojc… The guy on loan at Roma.

It’s S, and then Z, follow by C, and then Z again, continue with E-S-N-Y. there you go, how to write the name of dat guy that spend 2 years on loan at Roma

I find mnemonics help with my atrocious spelling.

Because: Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants.
Necessary: Never Eat Celery, Eat Salad Sandwiches And Remain Young.

I don’t have a mnemonic for… him. Perhaps you can suggest one?

Pretty good.

I had Spacious Zoos Contain Zebra, Exotic Snakes, Naughty Yaks.

Mr. G

Definitely needs a season out on loan where he’ll be first choice so we can get a better idea of whether he’s going to be a genuine future first team regular or the next Stuart Taylor.

bdotm

I think he’s a pretty decent goalie anyway, needs to play regularly at his age
