Having suffered a serious injury in the opening game of the season, there’s good news for Ainsley Maitland-Niles who has returned to full training.
The midfielder, who was playing at left-back against Man City, broke a bone in his left fibula following a clash with Kyle Walker and has been sidelined since.
The timing has been unfortunate, as he’s missed two Europa League ties and a Carabao Cup game in which he would reasonably have been expected to feature in, but he’ll be in Unai Emery’s thoughts as the fixtures pile up when we return after the Interlull.
Both Danny Welbeck and Petr Cech will undergo further assessment for their hamstring injuries before we play Leicester on Monday week.
Defenders Konstantinos Mavropanos and Laurent Koscielny are still some way from full fitness and consideration for action.
Mesut Ozil is also in full training after a back spasm ruled him out of the 5-1 win over Fulham. Let’s hope he didn’t spend too long streaming Fortnite on Twitch last night.

Good news. Most natural back up to Torreira I feel.
Both together could be interesting
If Guendouzi is back up to Xhaka then hopefully AMN is back up to Torreira.
Not sure where that leaves Elneny but considering he’s been limited to Cup games it’s clear Emery doesn’t rate the Neny.
LANS.
Truth
Either :
1) Continue to develop in midfield (in which case Elneny is surplus) or
2) Challenge for a role at Rback (Lichsteiner is a stop gap anyway)
Or both as the ultimate utility player.
Robust, has power and skill to bring to midfield, 110% commitment with good recovery pace.
I disagree, ramsey on his way out will free space for him and elneny to stay. The advantage of elneny is that he is consistently average/good while ramsey has his ups downs plus being injury prone.
Ramsey isn’t considered a CM under Emery
Santori hates Arsenal playing players out of their natural position. Santori wants AMN to start playing at right back. Santori is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.
Eboue!
“before we play Leicester on Monday week”
Boy, a whole week of Mondays? Count me out.
Nope… Don’t get it
Ok, I’ll be helpful. ‘Monday Week’ is a phrase used in the British Isles and some other places that carries the same meaning as ‘A week from Monday’ to others.
Cheers, would never have guessed.
Like the time I was at a lecture with a guy from Australia. I asked how long it was, he said half five…where I come from that is 4:30…not half past five!
But…wouldn’t half five be 2:30?
Welcome back AMN. A good player now, has bags of extra potential for Unai to develop.
Loving our squad depth
“broke a bone in his left fibula”. This is technically incorrect. The fibula IS a bone. It contains no bone.. It should be “broke his left fibula”
If it is a bone, then it also contains bone. That’s how it works.
It actually is one long continuous bone, it doesn’t have any other bone within it
AAACTUALLLYYYY ?
Maitland Niles is the ideal replacement for Ramsey! Arsenal don’t need to buy replacement for Ramsey. We got the weapon already sitting waiting for chance to cement on the Arsenal first team. Just like a new comer will need time to settle. Maitland Niles he is already used to our atmosphere. Maitland Niles he got the best two touches that can sweet Emery style of play.
cant agree more. always thought that maitland niles and nketia are the players with most potential from our youth team. his dont give a fuk attitude to whoever he is playing against , his quick thinking and his physicality make him one of my most favourite player in this squad. watch out for his penetrating runs. i can sense this is the season he breaks out .
Always saw him as more of an off spinner.
My Vieira
One day Torreira and AMN running our midfield ?
That’s great news hopfully he comes back stronger and gets some vital game time. He’s one of our brightest youngsters with so much potential and could really flourish in the new system.
I would like him on the right of a three with Xhaka on the left and Torreira in the middle, especially in games against City, Scousers and so forth.
Going to be interesting to see how and how much we use him. He definitely needs to be playing quite regularly now to continue developing. It.s a nice problem to have, but still
Wait.. MO plays Fortnite? Seriously?
It’s meant to be sarcastic. He actually plays DOTA 2.
Used to like mesut but now I know he plays fortnite I’m done with him! Stupid bloody game! ?
Good news. I would like for ramsey to leave asap as he is more of a liability. He must not be picked ahead of mkhi. Theres plenty of great attacking midfielders out there. Cash in jan and make a big sighning. Goudohan sounds good, excuse the name spelling. He partner ozil nicely. Is also like to see dybala at arsenal
1. Really useful squad player to have back. Hopefully can get a start in the Blackpool game. 2. I wonder if Ramsey’s contract offer was withdrawn because Emery sees enough potential in Smith-Rowe to replace him. 3. Mo Salah got injured playing for Egypt yesterday; interesting as we play Liverpool in 3 weeks. Could be a top of the table clash 😉
Good news from that side of the club, just get some good workout and go do your thing for the gooners
