Arsenal’s quest for a 15th FA Cup will start with a home tie against Newcastle United.
The match will be played at the Emirates at some point across the 8th to 11th January. Given our status as holders, you’d expect us to be on the box.
We’ve played three FA Cup finals against the Geordies. We lost in 1932 and 1952 and won in 1998.
More recently we’ve beaten them 3-0 in the cup in 2008 and 2002.
Non premier league games are something to look forward to in these times 🙂

We had tough games last season and ended up winning the cup. atleast we are playing at home and not against a team called Marine.
I’d argue that we were in far better form back then. Let’s hope the good form somehow comes back soon.

True, but I don’t think we’re quite in the same place this season, are we? A cup represents our only chance of a trophy, and we are defending this one, so that may well be a positive. On the other side, let’s hope we find our scoring boots. Four shots on target, with one goal, in the two most recent PL games play isn’t exactly cup tie winning form either.
True, but I have faith in our cup/europa team beating Newcastle, no confidence in our first team. I think our 2nd team would beat our first team ar this rate.

The FA Cup is now massively important to us. It looks like we’ll fail to finish in a European place in the Premier League so the cup competitions my be our only route into Europe next season.
That’s why Arteta will have to play a strong team against Newcastle.
First we should worry about getting the best out of the squad we have and then about European football. In fact not having any mid week football will be of help for this squad.

I am having a FA cup fatigue
After seeing how Marine FC played on Sunday, that would have been an experience for our players. Maybe they’d be a bit humbled seeing how much some team put into a game.
