Arsenal have recalled Brooke Norton-Cuffy from his spell at Rotherham United and sent him straight to fellow Championship side Coventry City for the second half of the season.
Brooke switched north London for Yorkshire in August to gain more senior experience and the highly-rated right-back went on to feature in all but two of The Miller’s 22 league matches this season. As such, it’s a curious decision to move him on, especially with Coventry not that much higher up the table.
Perhaps Rotherham’s form – one win in 12 games – has counted against them or maybe the style of football doesn’t tally with what Arsenal want for Brooke. Who knows? Maybe we’ll find out in due course.
On signing Brooke, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “We are delighted to welcome Brooke to Coventry City on loan until the end of the season.
“He is a strong and powerful wing-back with great pedigree and attitude, who will add further quality to our squad.
“Brooke is a player who we tried to bring in during the Summer transfer window, so we are really pleased to have the opportunity to add him now and are looking forward to working with him.”
Brooke previously spent the first half of 2022 on loan at Lincoln City and then helped England win the 2022 European Under-19 Championship.
All the best to Brooke at Coventry.
They look like they’re fighting over that shirt 😀
I wouldn’t bother appealing against it – we’ll get fuck all as usual.
Different club, new gaffa, new stuff to learn, all good steps on the long road to the Arsenal team. Good luck N-C
He was playing a lot up football higher up the pitch on the right hand side. More of a winger than a fullback
That’s possibly the reason for the change. Arsenal want him to get games at RB
Wow, Coventry’s photographer is no Stuey McFarlane!
