Martin Odegaard’s performances in November and December have earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award.
The Norway international was in fine fettle in the build-up to the World Cup hiatus scoring three goals and making three assists to help Arsenal’s fine run of form at the top of the table.
The 23-year-old beat off competition from compatriot Erling Haaland, Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, Brentford’s Ben Mee, Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier and Joao Palhinha of Fulham.
Introducing the @PremierLeague Player of the Month for November/December…🥁
Our skipper 🥇
Congratulations, Martin! 👏

Reflecting on his success, our captain said: “It feels great. I’ve said a lot of times this team has a lot of young, hungry players and we play so well with each other, so it’s just a pleasure to be here and to be part of what we’re doing now. It’s a pleasure to play with them and show my qualities so I’m very happy to get this award.”
Odegaard is the first Arsenal player to win the award since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in September 2019.
In total, Arsenal players have won the men’s award on 31 occasions. In addition to Martin and Auba, winners include David Seaman, Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp, Alex Manninger, Emmanuel Petit, Nicolas Anelka, Ray Parlour, Thierry Henry, Freddie Ljungberg, Sylvain Wiltord, Robert Pires, Edu, Jose Antonio Reyes, Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Andrei Arshavin, Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud.
The FA wont like that. Another fine incoming for being good.
Unfortunately, Arteta has also won the Manager of the Month for November and December. I hope isn’t a poisoned chalice, especially as we play Sp*rs on Sunday!
What does that mean?
Manx is probably looking what the horoscope says before replying
Super Mik has won three MotM awards before today:
Won Aug 2022 – Announced 16th Sept 2022 – Won next game vs. Brentford 3-0
Won Mar 2022 – Announced 1st Apr 2022 – Lost next game vs. Palace 3-0
Won Sep 2021 – Announced 8th Oct 2021 – Drew next game vs. Palace 2-2
Whether we win, lose or draw on Sunday will depend on a whole bunch of factors – winning MotM will not be one of these factors.
I was joking! It follows on from when Wenger won MotM, Arsenal seemed to lose their next match.
But, I am kinda proud that I’ve been exclusively 👎for my previous comment!
Anyway, congrats to Arteta and of course I want Arsenal to thrash Sp*rs on Sunday!
Fully deserved. He’s been absolutely outstanding
Excellent news – and fair reward for an outstanding level of performance lately. Congratulations Martin, and let’s knock it up another notch on Sunday!
Surprised to see that Ozil, Alexis and Cazorla never made the list.
Why Ozil? He never did anything consistently.
Very surprised for Alexis though.
In his first 2 seasons he was a very important player. The last 5 or so he was dreadful.
I think you must have a short term memory problem if you honestly believe that Ozil was dreadful for 5 years. He joined us in 2013 and so why was he offered an extension in 2018 if he was so dreadful? Yes the end was sad but w certainly he was great for us for a great deal longer than 2 years.
Apart from being the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 50 assists and being one of the most creative players in the country. Helped us win 3 FA Cups in 4 years. His consistency was never in question until the latter years.
This kind of revisionist stuff drives me crazy. You are allowed to think Ozil was crap, but only if you thought so at the time–and no one did.
Let’s not get carried away with nostalgia, some of the criticism even of the early years is fair. He was an incredible player on many, perhaps most match days, but even then couldn’t be relied upon to deliver in the biggest moments and often disappeared in them, hence (among a couple other reasons) why we consistenly lost to Chelsea and the Manchesters, always finished 4th in the league and crashed out of the CL at the first or second knockout round every year. Again an astonishing player to watch on his good days and for sure a big part of… Read more »
No Tony Adams either but I guess defenders rarely win that award.
Surprised Edu got a win.
And yet, Alex Manninger won it?
Paddy Vieira and Overmars neither 🙀 I guess defenders and defensive midfielders almost never win it, if at all, or Sol Campbell and Tony Adams would have a couple too.
On the other hand surprised to see Nasri and Reyes up there. I guess both had very short peaks playing for us but not names I remember that fondly or care to see up there amongst all of our all time greats, especially Nasri as Reyes did contribute a bit to our invincible season
Thoroughly deserved, lad’s a wizard on and off the ball and still getting better! Joins an illustrious lists of former Arsenal players, minus the Judas of course 😁
Legend on the making
This lads talent has no ceiling we are lucky to have him 🙌
Well done Martin! Well deserved 🎉
I thought Bukayo Saka won one of recent?
No mention of Saka? He’s one of the nominees for the month.
Go on lad..goal and assist at the shitbowl on Sunday!
We shall soon add Mykhailo Mudryk to the list of Arsenal winners of the Award.😀
How did Vieira never win player of the month?
