Bonus graphic:

This might not mean Jack Squat but after Arsenal scored the equalizer I remarked that it was Cazorla’s speculative shot which set up the goal scoring opportunity. So I looked and noticed the number of shots from distance for Arsenal over the last five games have been relatively high and especially high for a team with a reputation for “trying to walk the ball into the net”. So, as a test I compared the first five games of this season to the last five of last season and, well, there are your results.

Obviously, this warrants further investigation.

1- turnovers last night when I fell in pissed and had to listen to the misses who’s was supposed to drop a spog yesterday , it was worth the hassle abusing manc scum down the local,we can fucking win this league if they show belief, wilshire, rosicky to come back and giroud to get hat
trick against coventry to get him started, were going to fuck chelski next week and I’m going to enjoy another weekend of grief on the piss COYG

Ferngunner

100 = PER-centage. Per is prooving doubters wrong.

Brian Mendoza

1 – Times Yaya Toure was brought to ground by Cazorla

Most perplexing/funny thing that happened in that match.

extreemee

Take that mertesacker haters! Who says you need pace to be a good defender! He was imperious yesterday…nothing could get past him

iftitah

100 – percent of confidence arsenal can win something this year

Paobing

11 – individuals of mega-money costing “stars” on the pitch at any point in time for Man City

1 – united team who shared the same passion/desire and fought hard for one another for us

Ferngunner

We should stop shooting from outside the box, this so called football pundits need something to critisize arsenal for

“You do not attempt shots, you’re not yet an all round footballing side”……….. Oh kiss my arse.

Thomas B

Always nice with some stats. Would have liked to see some stats on Jenkinson though. For me, he candidated for Motm. What an improved player.

thaatarsenalguy

The arsenal column has a post dedicated to Jenkinson

wandarah

Has he improved spectacularly? I thought, first two outings aside, that last year he showed plenty. His crosses in particular, I feel, are our best from wide areas. He showed that last year two.

In any case, he’s better, he’s getting better, and I really do think – we might not only have a player on our hands, but one which covers his bedroom in Arsenal gear.

I mean, who else can we say th….oh.

Pearson

I am awed at Arteta’s amazing abilities at Arsenal. 88% = Number of words beginning with “A” in that sentence.

100% = number top five club’s mentioned in blogs with this type of praise:
“I am a fan of (Chelsea, Spurs, Mancity, ManUtd, Newcastle) and “Arsenal play the best football in the league”.
Very positive comments from opposing fans.
We are second in the Fair Play league. Methinks this is important, less suspensions and distractions.
It’s Fuckin’ Excellent!

100 = percent, glorious last ditch save by don Malone yesterday.

Dan

1- number of cunts less the world has to see in an England jersey.

Gunner2dMarrow

Infinity- Number of humble pie Wenger has dished out to critics so far.

Dan

Have to salute Aguero for not going down so easily, in the other side of manchester a certain valencia decided it has been a long time since he last dived and so he did. Fucking sick of this, United are a virus that is to footballs detriment. Bunch of diving cunts the lots of em!

Tenacious Defence

The refs love giving them penalties, yet awarding one against them is another matter. Conspiracy, I say!

gunner_expat

Seriously…when are we going to see retrospective action against such despicable cheating!

It is what it is

Anyone willing to make a note of these diving incidents and penalties not given against the turds? At the end of the season, the movie would be evidence enough to challenge the refs or governing bodies / enough to say we know your game…..

gunn cabinet

I feel we don’t talk enough about our mental strength this year. It’s fucking excellent!!

Tom

We don’t talk about it because when you have it, you don’t need to. I always felt every time Wenger gave the “mental strength” spiel, it was a sign of weakness.

Midfield Corporal

I liked the way we settled for a point once we equalised. In the past we’d have all rushed forward in search of the winner, only to have got caught on the break. That was a good confidence building point. If we could get 3 against Chelsea I think we can genuinely be considered title challengers.

Thierry Henry

2 – Number of middle finger Arsene Wenger is showing the League FA and critics world wide…..

LB

Love the Wenger comments most. He certainly is making a lot of “us” and “them” eat humble pie. He’s also right, this is one of the best squads we’ve had for perhaps five or so years and it looks like getting better. I mean Sagna, Rosicky and Wilshere will surely make the team better or at least deeper. We seem better equipped to go fight in out in the north in winter. Now we just need to beat the other money bags next week and send an emphatic message: you can pay Nasri 200 000 pounds if you like, but… Read more »

Pearson

His pass completion rate is was 90%+. He defends too. Lets hope he relaxes and starts to put a few more away.
I wonder what percentage pass completion rate Arshavin managed when he played?

Padwan

Sagna is brilliant but how could you drop jenkinson, I just can’t believe his progress, another gem from the voyuer. We should rejoice every time he signs and no name player from obscurity and how we will receive 10 times his transfer fee in return when he feels like selling. Between him and the brilliant Ramsay for best player on ground who would have thunk it. More importantly the team played brilliant exciting attacking football again, something I don’t think we’ve really seen since cesc, that’s my fucking arsenal

goona13

142 passes completed in Shitty final third. Man, that’s amazing.

100 – Percentage chance Woman-Sini will be wondering why he bought midfielders and never heard of Carzola.

1- a player called llorente that Arsenal needs as striker option

It is what it is

Did you see him against Malaga last night? Almost anonymous. Also, the way he’s chosen to handle his contract situation puts me off.

Da Silva

Yes man! Well said.

gunner_expat

Didn’t the match report say that Ramsey lined up on the Right hand side? I didn’t believe it then, and now the stats prove it. Gibbs – Ramsey the most productive pair, would be a little hard from across the field. Also I think they were all switching around…it was mad confusing. Cazorla definitely played on the right for sometime. Gervinho, played all across the front 3, Podolski also played in the centre for a while, and Ramsey, was flitting around as well. Dynamic! Did we have 3 mids or 4, 2 attackers or 3 or 4? Who Knows?! Mancini… Read more »

Per's Nimble Footwork

Anyone still wondering about my footwork then? Speed this. Pace that. pffft!

Jonathan

Seriously, that perfect 50 yard cross from Cazorla in the second half could cure depression.

It is what it is

It was his left foot as well…..who is Stevie G?

Sol Goodman

0 – number of chins on na$ris stupid face.
By the way, loved the pile up after Kos’s goal , i think Don Vito was the only man who didn’t make it up the field for it, show’s how much unity this team has.
Bring on chealski!

Arsene's festival sleeping bag

WHAT DOES THE SCOUTER SAY ABOUT HIS PASS COMPLETION RATE??

Midfield Corporal

Whilst we can take many positives from yesterday, I think it also showed up two areas that should concern us. Primarily, our lack of a quality striker to challenge Giroud meant we weren’t able to turn a good draw into a win.
Secondly, we need to cut out individual errors which have lead to the only goals we’ve conceded, and nearly gifted Aguero a winner.

Bee

1 – number of times freddie ljungberg said ‘shit’ on match of the day

Boris the Great

I think we should go for Adrian Lopez in January, he will be available and is top notch striker :D.

Theo/Sterling swap. I was unfortunate to work with a scouser who showed me a video of Sterling as a 15 year old scoring 5 goals against manure U-18s. Saw him again in a token U-18s match last year and again he was easily the most mature/intelligent player on show. He’s less of a risk than Walcott was when we bought him, already has what Walcott will never have and the pool dwellers are keen on Theo.
I like Theo but I’d play the OX before him. His development has stagnated.

Da Silva

I like him. Oh yeah. Here is ten thumbs up 🙂

gladys

statistical test on the “shots outside the box”: I did a T-Test, which looks at the two datasets and asks whether the averages actually really different from each other, or whether the two averages are differ by an amount similar to the sort of variation in the two datasets anyway. Probability of the data being random (ie, meaningless) turned out to be 0.1 (10% chance that these numbers mean nothing, 90% chance that there is meaning in the data), so it’s not “scientifically” significant, but it’s quite likely that something is going on here. Conclusion was spot on: more data… Read more »

Laurent Koscielny of Arsenal levels the score on the second half at the penalty area. Since then, both of the two sides missed several good opportunities. Manchester City 1-1 Arsenal http://www.footballgoalvideo.com/highlights/view/710958/Manchester-City-vs-Arsenal
