Bielik travelling to London for Arsenal medical

Legia Warsaw have confirmed that midfielder Krystian Bielik will travel to London tomorrow have a medical after the two clubs agreed a fee.

Despite interest from HSV in the Bundesliga, Arsene sent his Dick to Poland to hammer out an agreement with the 17 year old’s club and that appears to have been done successfully.

On their official website and Twitter account, they said that Bielik will undergo a medical at Arsenal tomorrow at which point, assuming he’s got both his legs and isn’t hiding a massive hunchback, the signing will be completed.

The news comes in the wake of the unfortunate news about Mikel Arteta who is set to miss most of the rest of the season due to surgery on an ankle problem.

It’s not expected that Bielik will be integrated into the first team this season, he’s definitely one for the future, and we’ll wait and see if the Arteta news forces the manager’s hand in the January window.

We’re not holding our breath though.

First signing down, none to go!

JC

“Arsene sent his Dick to Poland to hammer out an agreement”?????

Is that how AW is signing players nowadays?

Steven

Yes, his Dick of Law 😛

Runcorn Gooner

Hope he tells the other Pole that smoking is bad for you….it can jeopardise your health and place in the team

ancef_gooner

thats what happens when Arsene pulls his coq out

Henry! Chance!! Goal!!!

JC, you’ve obviously not been paying attention. Wenger uses his Dick to sign new players and his Coq to win games

Türkiş Gooner

Thats it for our transfer market activity, I can bet my head on it 😀

ontheup

As Blogs noted in his daily column, other teams signing EPL-ready players while we sign 16yo wunderkids is so old it’s not funny anymore. The only positives of the transfer window is that Bony is not available to play against us this weekend.

In any event, nobody can accuse AW to mortgage the future to win now, even with his departure programmed in 2.5 years. On the contrary, some can accuse him of mortgaging the present to try to win in the future.

Dick Swiveller

Well, a fair few of his purchases would suggest that he’s looking to do both imo. We get a good mix of experience and young talent these days (lack of another CB aside), witness the last transfer window: we picked up Sanchez/Debuchy/Chambers, two for now and one for the immediate future.

It’s annoying signing a kid when we all know we need a CB, but our buying srategy is fine, when we actually buy, which is the issue at the moment

RoyaleWithCheese

Who are these other teams and would you be happy if we signed any of these “EPL-ready players” you speak of? The only EPL-ready player that’s been signed so far is Bony, and I’d be pretty pissed if we had signed him for as much as we gave for Alexis.

Fireman Sam

Yep, it’s a question of valuation.

Always liked Bony, but at that price, na.

Steven

You know who signed on a tranfer window in which we needed other players? The unproven, raw, 17 years old lad Aaron Ramsey!

RoyaleWithCheese

Right after Manchester United announced on their website that they had agreed terms with Cardiff over him. That’s always fun to look back at.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Come on now. You’re bending what he said a bit there, aren’t you?

His was a measured statement that made it clear that we are not in an either/or situation with new signings. You ignored the bits that didn’t fit the story you wanted to write. Do you work for the Daily Mail?

Nick

Does nobody think Coquelin can fill in for Arteta/Flamini? He looked very assured against Stoke/Hull. Seems like he would be AW’s preferred solution.

Striker

We have not seen him against one of the top teams yet. Let’s see how he does against man city. He has done a fantastic job so far, but how well can he do against top teams? We’ll find out soon.

Thorough

Like all our first choice perform against the top teams for the past 4 years. have you seen our tally against the top teams of late? Horrendous is the word. but never mind people will still give Le Coq grief if we get blown away by Man City, which they totally forgot is a norm now no thanks to Monsieur Winger.

remember the invincibles

yeah but we need a signing there as well. Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer at least.

indrossi

Agreed. Whilst Arteta is an inspirational leader, he’s in the twilight of his playing days now and we should be thinking about the future. Ditto Mertescielny.

Nasri's missing chinbone

How old is John ‘I’ll fuck anything’ Terry? As much as I hate to say it, probably the best CB in the league this season. We need a competitor for mertechielny not outright replacements.

Greg

Sorry, inspirational? Haha

ramsey's spirit

I feel Coq is good, i also feel what we need is great, by all means keep him in the squad to replace flamini, he definitely looks better than him these days. I still push for Lars Bender

Gutbukket Deffrolla

These days? He has had two good games against average competition, and one struggling game against tough opposition. I think it’s a little early to crown him yet. There is a chance that starting le Coq against City will turn into a half-time substitution. Of course there is also a small chance that Aguero may realise that he has been pocketed and will give football up at half time and go live in a nunnery. I understand the desperation for le Coq to succeed, as Flamini has looked a little vulnerable at times (to speedy opposition as well as to… Read more »

Cheddya

Looks like great business on the face of it. I think it’s pretty clear the next stage of our development is going to be replacing the older members of our squad (Arteta, Rosicky, Flamini and Per) so this will go a long way to building for our future. Not sure about the legality of a 17 year old dealing with Arsene’s dick, but it’s international so maybe there are different regulations over in Russia.
Still gutted for Mikel though. Oh captain my captain.

Wenger

We need someone who can make an instant impact now like sanchez

Ciaran

Sanchez was unique! Never has there been a foreign player adapt so quickly to the EPL!

ZA Gunner

How hard can that be? Let’s just find another Sanchez quality signing in budget. Fuck it. Let’s find two. CB & DM.

gunner1905

Of course it’s hard but Wenger’s being paid one of the highest wage in football so “it’s too hard” just doesn’t fly.

oster

Unless Wenger’s salary can make a club willing to sell the exact player we want mid-season, and that his salary can make the player we want willing to leave, then I don’t see how it’s anywhere near relevant.

Ricky

We’ll try to muddle through with Coq at DM, imo. It’s not really our style to address the massive holes in the side.

George

If he’s fully fit, he’ll probably fail our medical.

UdGooner

hahahahhaha

Scott P

Either that or he’ll be injured and pass. He’d fit right in!

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Another medical room injury?

We need to get that camouflaged pit by the doorway filled in… or at least take the contact poison off of the bamboo stakes in the bottom of it.

Double98

Brittle bones – check
Chronic tendonitus – check
Scurvy – check

100 grand a week 6 year deal

assistantref

A sure contender for comment of the month.

Arsepedant

The medical itself will probably injure him.

Kdot

Kallstrom nailed it…

Gutbukket Deffrolla

It nailed Kallstrom…

gooner stuck in cornwall

Tbh I don’t know fuck all about this guy, but Wenger must see something in him. Hopefully he doesn’t pull an Eisfeld and can actually integrate into the first team over the next few seasons.

Rohith J

Bielik and Coquelin in mid field. Bring on Citeh!

putschi

He looks very promising judging from youtube clips.

Anybody heard of that schneiderlin rumour?

Btw. I cant understand why we dont just call jenkinson back. Chambers could be our CB cover then, and jenko looks really good now.

ZA Gunner

Jenks looks to be having a good time of it in east London. I can only guess that the loan agreement didn’t allow for a recall…

offbeat madoda

haha, because of your name, i had to do a double take, thinking “what the hell is the Corp. doing in the eastern cape of all places.”

GunnerDareMACEDONIA

Because in the summer with westham we agreed season long loan for him with no option to call him back.

Dick Swiveller

I don’t think there’s much between him and Bellerin, Jenkis gives more physicality but Bellerin is fleeter of both foot and brain, which counts for a lot when our midfield gets confued and decides width is for suckers.

Kevin

Saw a comment on that topic earlier in the season, and if i remember it correctly FA ruels allows us to call him back, but not use him (presumably in domestic competition)

Gutbukket Deffrolla

So if we need to leapfrog West Ham later in the season to get into the top (number of your choice goes here) then we can recall him if the Hammers are getting better results with him than without him in their team. What a lovely way to behave!!! We should definitely do it. It doesn’t matter that he couldn’t play for us because Bellerin will be awesome by then.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

The rumour that Schneiderlin is really a woman and has been having hormone treatment to reduce the size of her breasts because they make it difficult for her to pass the medicals at Southampton, but that she is convinced she could get through the Arsenal medical without detection because they don’t actually insist that the players are physically present as long as they send in a sick note from their mum?

No.

Rohith J

He’s a first choice at West Ham getting a regular run of games which he won’t get here. He will be back a better player. We have two decent choices at RB right now in Chambers and Bellerin.

Daveo76

To be fair if he only had one leg and a hunchback to put Quasimodo to shame we’d still take him wouldn’t we?

Still, first of many……..

NotWitty

No wonder DICK signed BieLI(C)K
I hope he saw the war at WARSAW because he would play with the best here.

To those that are talking up Coquelin remember what you said about Flamini after his first few matches last season. I can see little difference between Coquelin and Flamini’s performances this season. They point and shout for no reason. They both dive into tackles when they don’t need to. Can’t track runners properly and their passing is poor. I’ve got no clue why Coquelin has gotten so much praise over the past month. He was okay against the Hull B team and could’ve got sent off in that match. Against Stoke he was okay but his passing was average. Against… Read more »

Chairman Meow

such a idiotic comment.

Mc1892

I agree regarding Coquelin (though I’d be happy to be proven wrong) but Szczesny..? I think average is a poor word to describe him; were he to sustain his best form he’d be regarded as one of the best around, and given his age we’re yet to really see if he can do that. I agree that Arsenal fans are masters of overrating average players, but that’s only part of the fan base. The remainder seem to revel in slating our players at any chance they get, and genuinely seem to dislike admitting when Wenger does something well.. I find… Read more »

Roitenak

Coquelin is much more mobile than Flamini, giving him presence in front of the back four. I can feel the difference when he’s playing, but I still have doubts whether or not he can handle the big teams alone in that position (probably a reason why he was associated with Chambers against Southampton, it didn’t work out though).

Not trying to talk him up but he’s done well all things considered and he still can improve as opposed to Flamini who has reached his peak.

Lass

I don’t think anyone thought Flamini would be a solution for the other CM position. The reaction to his first performances was mostly positive because everyone thought that he would be sh** and the team played some really good matches with him on the pitch (not because of him maybe). The difference is that Coq has really been good and a significant difference to what we’ve seen on that position this season.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Those good games weren’t “in spite” of Flamini either. He was 1/11th of the team, you know, and that must be significant, because if it wasn’t we wouldn’t get upset when one of our players gets sent off.

See? Logic will always sort problems out for you.

Tom

When he wants to sign a player, Arsene sends his Dick. When he wants to defend some balls, he sends his Coq. Does he have more of such under his belt?

RoyaleWithCheese

I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed van Dijk from Celtic.

Double98

When he wants to sell a player to the mancs he sends a badger cunt
?

David

If Coquelin starts on Sunday and plays well I think we all know who is the new DM we have all wanted to be signed, we all know Wenger would love that more than anything, why spend £30 million when I have this guy I let go to Charlton a few months ago!! Not that I think he is a bad player.

Ricky

Don’t worry about that, Citeh will have a field day with what passes for an Arsenal “defence” these days.

Let’s hope Sanchez has his shooting boots on because I reckon we’ll need 5.

Dick Swiveller

We’ll see.

If we turn up, we’ll give them a good game but we turn up so rarely in these kind of games it’s not likely to end well.

AS17 is fot A.Sanchez not A.song

Arsene sent his Dick to Poland to hammer out…….that sounds healthy!!! Thanks Bloggs. Atleast a smile in an otherwise bloody day

David

Ok, good signing for the future and all, but when will arsene sign some defender that can help us now

Gutbukket Deffrolla

When he finds one that is for sale and the player, his agent, and the team he is in now all agree that he should join us. More chance of that happening at the end of the window…. or in August (I threw that in to cheer up all the doom-mongerers).

FT

Well that didn’t take long did it? Arsène had to pacify Szczesny by bringing in a Polish upstart to keep him company on the bench. Our Poles are strengthened now.

SoqedHozi

There is little point splashing cash in January in our position. Still on course to finish 3rd or 4th, and signings won’t make us title contenders before the end of the season. The extra cost is a poor investment given our position.

Let’s not forget that many players have made it to the first team squad at 17 or under, so there is no reason why this kid could not be one of those players.

And even if he does have a hunchback we’ll still sign him. This is known as the kallstrom maneuver.

Greg

If you sign them now they are raring to go next season. No few months bedding in

Soqed Hozi

A fair point. Regarding my comment about him being 17 – Wilshere broke into the first team at 16, zelalem also (and many are clamouring for him to get more chances). What is to say that this kid isn’t very very good? He has barely palyed for LW so we must have seen enough to make an assessment fairly easily and that probably means he stands out. Who knew about cavalho before he was linekd with us? What about Junior Malanda (RIP) who was 20 and the regular DM at a top european side. If he is good enough he… Read more »

This is the kind of mentality that results in us not competing for the title for the last 10 years

Gutbukket Deffrolla

bendtners mum

The worst thing about us signing this youngster is that we are resigned to not just this year but next year with arteta flamini. unless we go for schneiderlin at the end of the season. as for the coq. pay close attention to his positioning in games. he gets bypassed in passing triangles very quickly. and leaves the full backs open.

ZA Gunner

I think Flamini’s contract is up 30 June. Arteta’s was extended to June 2016. So next year we’re looking at Arteta in the screening role. Then it’s Coq, Chambers or a new transfer coming in, with Bielek as cover… I’ be surprised if Flamini’s was extended…

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Maybe we are waiting for Jedinak to come back from the Asian Cup. I can’t see loaning Sanogo to Palace would have done any harm to our chances of signing him. I can’t see Palace wanting to sell him either because he is so important for them, but maybe if we offered them lots and lots and lots of lovely dosh (even for a loan maybe) then they’d think about it. He’s sure to go elsewhere in the summer as we’re not the only team who could do with a proven Premier League DM. Maybe Schneiderlin would be the better… Read more »

I’m glad we’re signing him, just because I hate missing out on targets. You track the story for days in NewsNow and then, bam, he signs for someone else.

Anybody else remember those days we were about to sign some winger called Di Maria, and then he went to Benfica? Or when Kolo was imploring us to sign his brother? Then again, was Alvarez a bullet dodged?

mo974

i do remember , yaya was lost in greece then at monaco..so many misses from arsene this last 10 years…

Gutbukket Deffrolla

That’s the way of a competetive market. It’s market forces and a thinking product that we’re trying to buy that makes it all so difficult. The “thinking product” part probably fucks up more of our deals than anything else.

If only players came in packets on shop shelves and we’re of guaranteed proven quality and fitness for purpose. Like bleach. Bleach doesn’t choose to go to your neighbour’s house instead of yours because they’ve got solid gold toilet seats, does it?.

BW

He is 17 years old, what kind of medical history could be possibly have? Sniffles once when he was 9?

Gutbukket Deffrolla

They might have said that about Fabrice Muamba too. You just never know. Every single player signing is a gamble no matter how good or clean their medical history looks.

Mesut Aussie

Uncontrollable, frequent erections. Could be an issue in the new tight kit…

Can’t believe how furious I still am at Arnautovic for (deliberately) injuring Debuchy and the FA for taking no action.

I submitted a long, righteously indigant rant to the FA about how if the ref really saw that and didn’t think there was anything wrong with it, as they claim, he should never ref another game. They are either lying or admitting the ref was criminally incompetent. When they send me back their normal C&P nonsense I will then send the same rant to the ombudsman. It will not do any good but it made me feel a little better so I highly recommend it. And if every single arsenal fan did the same thing they might actually do something… Read more »

What if Scneiderlin doesn’t WANT to join us in the summer (or ever) ?
What if his dream is to make it big WITH Southampton?

He seems to be enjoying himself at Southampton, and if they do make the CL then he’d quite likely stay. Not to mention that other teams with more pulling power and spending power than us will also be aware that he is turning into a handy player.

What we have to hope is that Wenger not only has a Plan A, but Plans B, C, D, E, F, G, and Omega too.

Dan d

In the main this is a typical Arsenal signing of the last 8-10 years. And nothing against the young chap but it does leave me questioning the following: Why can’t we develop our own youngsters instead of relying on purchases from around Europe and the World? In recent years, apart from Wilshere (who the jury is seriously out on for me), Gibbs (like him a lot but is he really top drawer?), and a little further back Cole, we haven’t developed any youngsters from our academy through to our first team. While we have a core of young British players… Read more »

That’s why we changed things up with the youth system this summer, considering the amount we put in we weren’t getting that much out and hopefully we’ll see more now.

I don’t think we need that refocus really, I don’t know what we need to get our players to actually turn up to big league games, but I suspect missing out on the CL wouldn’t solve what seems to be a confidence issue.

Dan D

There certainly seems to be a mentality issue, and perhaps a quality issue. But the 2 go hand in hand really – top players have a winning mentality. I go every week and would like to think I’m informed enough and close enough to give a rounded and analysed opinion, and Stoke on Sunday was certainly for me our best performance thus far this season. But we need to perform that way more consistently and against top 4 opposition to convince me we actually have got what it takes to push on. On paper our squad, if a little unbalanced… Read more »

Southhampton is helped by not being as big a club as Arsenal is. The gap between the academy and the club is therefore smaller. I’m not suggesting that’s the full extent of it but it does make it easier for their kids to bridge the gap. They also have a history of selling their better players just about every season, which again opens up opportunities. I know, I know, queue obvious joke here. Arsenal’s big problem has always been that gap between youth level and the first team. Our youth teams have always done pretty well vs other youth teams,… Read more »

Dan d

I’m not buying the gap point I’m afraid. A good footballer is a good footballer and the fact that they have sold so many on to bigger clubs is proof enough that they are making footballers good enough for the top level. How many of our academy graduates are good enough to be sold on for a large profit to a top club? I also don’t think it’s wholly bad to ‘import’ young talent in, just feel a club as big as ours should be able to nurture more of our own top level players. But appreciate your point of… Read more »

Krystian Bielik is a fantastic signing for the club. He’s young and very promising. Over the next five or six years we’ll develop him and turn him into a top player.

Then we’ll sell him for a handsome profit.

And in all that time we’ll win… nothing.

But Wenger will have proven, yet again, just what a wonderful accountant he is.

maddyclaires

…and then he won’t do as well as his new employers thought he would at his new “big” club and wants a return to the Emirates in which Wenger says thanks, but no thanks because we are bedding our own new 15 yr old wunderkind from feyenoord which we signed for 500k pounds

This makes sense. With Flamini and Coquelin BOTH performing well, we can afford to add a younger player as back up an d eventual succession. Arteta’s longer than expected stint on sidelines will mean we may need cover. Bielik may likely be it for DM position. he has the height to replace the still missing Diaby. This will free up funds to spend on the position of priority which is Cback. Hummels may be on the cards if we take on a more inexperienced player like Bielik. It makes sense too as Per needs to slowly take a retiring position… Read more »

Anthony payne

I have seen a couple of clips featuring this kid on you tubeand was quite impressed. He is 6ft 2 and reminds me of a cross between Vieira and Diaby ( ie the Abou Diaby that owned Anfield a couple of seasons ago when we won 2-0. I would still like to see us go for Carvalho as well in order to give us a bit more depth at the back and in CM, especially with Coquelin , who I have always liked, looking good in the last couple of games.

Who the F*ck are Sp*rs?

I have to say that I know nothing about the lad but I hope he doesn’t end up the sort of “promising youngster” who ends up going on loan after loan for a few seasons before being sold for a couple of million to a championship club. Good luck to him.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

He’ll need a toughening up tour in the Championship at the very least. We can’t teach him how to play in English football in our first team. He’s a guaranteed loaner at least once, but more likely twice. Unless he gets two games, and in those two games single-handedly destroys Chelsea and City, for instance.

Gooners & Roses

Is it really only us and HSV are interested in this guy? It’ll be more assuring if other top clubs actually interested as well.

AntiSpud

Ha ha lol I have been always bragging to my friends and family that arsenal fans are the classiest in England. That the class of play is not only on the pitch but the jersey, the stadium, the fans etc…Well I wish they don’t and never read these posts: that train station incident and now these cock and dick? IMO they are unfunny, classless and as poor as nothing. Show some respect guys we all grownups!
