Wenger: Debuchy out for 3 months

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mathieu Debuchy’s dislocated shoulder will require surgery that will keep him sidelined for three months.

The French international suffered the injury when he fell awkwardly into the advertising hoardings at the Emirates after a push by Stoke’s Marko Arnautovic.

“Mathieu had a surgery on his right shoulder following the injury on Sunday,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“It’s very unfortunate for Mathieu, it’s unbelievable because he’s had two surgeries in the same season. He just came back, he played seven games and he’s out again. I count three months out for Mathieu because contact will be a problem for the shoulder.”

Debuchy’s news comes on the same day that Arsenal confirmed club captain Mikel Arteta will also miss three months having had surgery on his ankle.

Wenger also gave an update on Kieran Gibbs and Danny Welbeck, who have both missed the last couple of games. It sounds as though the left-back is in with a chance of playing on Sunday, his England counterpart though is still struggling to overcome his thigh problem.

“Kieran Gibbs will be training again with the squad on Friday and we will see how he goes from there. His news is positive.

“Danny Welbeck is not ready yet, he is still feeling some pain, so we will have to be patient.”

Just another harrowing injury update on Arseblog News. You’re welcome. Now pass the vodka.

George

Death, taxes, and long-term Arsenal injuries. Get well soon, MD.

RSAGooner

Seriously fuck Arnautovic

Jack4343

Agreed….while I really love that we took it to Stoke City, I was really hoping that someone would shove Arnautovic’s ass into the stands.

Crispy

we were 3-0 up. Why not bring Flamini with specific instructions to close line Arnautovic, take a red card and whilst on the way off, flying kick Crouches teeth out of his gormless face.

OOzil

that would require arnautovic to move his ass in the first place.. that guy hardly moves.. his most significant movement which was tracked by GPS was the push on Debuchy.

Those who dive or bite are labeled, blacklisted and face heavy ban penalty.
Those who get fellow pros injured seriously or in some case threatening the career and livelihood of others get away scot-free or 3 games ban max, with media and people jumping to their defence claiming there was “nothing malicious/ no intent” or “he is mo that kind of player”…

For the record, i’m not condoning diving or biting, i just cannot understand the anamoly in treatment.

DFS

There is an interesting article in the Guardian today about introducing another card – orange or white for a sin bin offense, as used in other sports. The comments went off at tangents concerning fair and equitable punishments in-game and post-game with the Debuchy injury mentioned. In reality this type of ‘careless’ injury does not frequently happen so should be easy to punish. This was not a debatable tackle in the middle of the pitch but a petty act (malicious?) as the ball and player were out of play. The push served no purpose but to unbalance Debuchy in mid-air.… Read more »

It won’t do any good unless literally thousands of people do it, but you can all write nasty letters to the FA’s email if you want telling them how ridiculous their claim that the ref saw this incident so tehy can’t retroactively punish the guy is. They sent back a C&P response, after which time you can send the same thing to the ombudsperson, who will also give you a C&P response. But they do keep tallies of complaints and if they get enough the bad press might cause them to change policy.

Iceman

Is three months out the new “two weeks”from fitness? Get well soon Debuchy.

@stefan_granlund

Fuck. Is it impossible to recall Jenkinson prematurely? Maybe he can do a “Coquelin”?

Striker

Doing a Liverpool you mean? Buying back their own player, haha

Martin

Wtf? Jenkinson is on loan you dumbass…

Forgot About Dre

You have to pay a termination fee to get him back…

the gunner

Crowd source anyone?

neutral

Divok Origi, you dumbass.

beNZed

Shitter of a day for Arsenews!

Ivan Drago

Wish we’d held onto Jenks

Papas

It never rains…

The Only Olivier is Giroud

I really feel gutted for the bloke. He was so excited to be playing Champion’s League football, I recall him mentioning it when he signed… and now this. Just when we’re heading toward the business end of it. Get well soon Matt

Cagooner

He’ll be back for the CL final. Maybe semi!

Chaplin35

So Danny had been infected with the curse as well now…

alex

We should sue Stokes asses! Otherwise Hughes will keep sending them out to do what AnotherToeBitch did.

goonero

And no retrospective punishment for the stoke cunt. I’m going to hope karmic justice brings some retribution, far more reliable than the f.a.

Simon

How about Arnautovic gets banned until Debuchy is fit again!!!! Can’t believe there hasn’t been a bigger deal made from this.

In other sports e.g. rugby, one of the worst offences possible is to push a man when he’s in the air because they recognise how dangerous it is.

This was not bad luck, it was reckless and should be punished as so.

Rochester

That was meant to be a thumbs up… damn phone and fat fingers

Gutbukket Deffrolla

The other person who down-thumbed him has down-thumbed you in retribution for your lack of loyalty to the cause.

Michael

I’m stupid, so what I do not understand is who came up with a system where you automatically get suspended for three matches for getting a red card, even if the red card is more than ample punishment for you having in the heat of the moment done something stupid albeit with zero consequence (aka ‘doing a Giroud’), but you don’t get any form of punishment whatsoever if you injure someone through an action that, while not necessarily intentional, is at the very least negligent if not reckless (i.e. Arnautovic’s push; whoever that nobody from Man U was that broke… Read more »

PGunner

I’d say unbelievable but this is The Arsenal. Let’s hope this helps our now smallish squad to really bond together and stick it to every opponent we face from now until May. Get well soon Mathieu and Mikel.

NCGunner

I had been wondering about the Welbeck thing, because it all seemed to be going according to the Arsenal script….

After West Ham, Arsene mentions that Welbeck has a small thigh problem or something like that. And then, what, 3 weeks later we are told that what is needed is patience because there is still pain. So basically a small thigh issue turns somehow into easily over a month and probably 2?

Can anyone really blame us for being so fatalistic when it comes this bullsh!t?

nc.

o'gizzle

Curse you Arna… (whatever your name is)

UGooner

Get it right. Arnotherbitch.

MTZ

Well, shit.

Tony Hall

That is his season over then. Fucking orc cunt

Karl

Would love to see Arnautovic’s head being repeatedly bashed by a door. Completely unnecessary injury the result of pure malice and cuntingness!!

SouthCoastGooner

Someone give Vinnie Jones a call and tell him that this Arnotherbitch Orc bastard has been touching up his son!

EDub

Boilk

Shubham

Time seems up for Mikel. He was an important component of the team. But I don’t see him coming back fully fit for an entire season. Btw, any idea on when are we getting our new signing Mr. Diaby fit? Haven’t heard of him for a while….

Cracked

Balls

poirobi

This thigh problem is really doubious. I can easily see it to be a 3 months spell at the Royal Arsenal Hospital of London. I’m fucking sick of it. How can we get any better when every second game somebody gets injured.
And where is Diaby/Gnabry?

Gutbukket Deffrolla

You’ve solved the problem. Our medical team have inadvertantly sewn Diaby and Gnabri together while treating them, and now Diaby/Gnabri is busy learning how to kick a ball with the one good leg left to him/him. He/he has, however, mastered the “unbeatable one man wall” at free kicks. He/he has also developed a new tactic he/he calls the two-head ball trap, where he/he traps the ball firmly between his/his two heads and simply runs with it straight into the opposition goal. This also solves the problem of why Szczesny has taking to smoking so much. He is stressed because he… Read more »

No Jenkinson. We have Bellerin who is an upgrade. Calum Chambers is also covering RB in absence of Debuchy. What it does means is the Cback requirement is even more of a priority. Gibbs is brittle so Monreal may likely have to cover LB frequently. No Debucchy as back up for the middle either. Koscielny has tendinitis which means he will have to be rested frequently. One knock to Per and we can kiss fourth place goodbye. We need a Cback. Hummels is a possibility depending on price. Recent reports on us going in for both Gundogan and Hummels seems… Read more »

H. P. Arsecraft

Hummels good enough to rotate? Ok. By the way, he is not a possibility.

klop

Simon I couldn’t agree more with you and IF the FA introduced a rule whereby players causing intentional injury to another professional have to miss the same of football as the player they injured, then players would not be so reckless and the manager less keen to employ dirty tactics!!! Imagine Roy Keane never playing football again after his sick vindictive foul on Harland – wouldn’t that have been SO fantastic!!!

Gutbukket Deffrolla

But you cannot prove intent. If he says, “I pushed him by reflex as he was getting in my personal space and I am so, so sorry about what happened to him after we separated” then how are they going to prove he’s lying and intended to make Debuchy fall awkwardly into the hoarding? All the Gooners say it was intentional. All the orcs say it was an accident. Independent judges cannot be expected to react to the incident like Gooners. In a panel of three only one has to think it was probably unintentional and not reckless because both… Read more »

14 games so far, when he’ll get back the season will almost be over. He will miss our Champions League games, honestly.. Fuck Arnautovic

Xxxrob

Fuck.
If the glass has any liquid in it at all tho at least it isn’t a leg injury. He should be able to get back into it without too much mental trauma I’d hope
Get well mat

kaius

What a downer. Get well soon both those lads.

Arsenal. Abou Diaby will be eligible for a testimonial in another season or two. Madness.
