Martinez set for Wolves loan

Reports this afternoon suggest that Emi Martinez is for a season-long loan spell at Wolves.

The Express and Star say ‘Boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed there is a verbal agreement in place with the Gunners to bring the 22-year-old to Molineux’.

Currently third choice behind Petr Cech and David Ospina, the Argentine is another player who is at an age where his development can only be furthered by playing more regularly.

Martinez made 6 appearances for the club last season, and a further 8 for Rotherham in a late-season loan spell.

Crickey!! All this exodus better be paving way for some big player(s) to fill the gaps left.

“Also means Arsenal have just 24 players for the first team squad”
What’s the maxium players in a first team squad now?
I thought it was 24….although I have no idea where I got that number from.

spudmonkey97

It’s 25 over-21 players + any number of U21s that have been at the club for more than two years, i.e. players like Macey don’t have to be registered in the first team squad and can play at any time.

VeryXerioz Gunner

Does this mean Zlatan is coming….. *sarcastic grin*

Cornelius P. Snuffington III

Yeah, but in a shocking twist, it’s to replace Martinez as the No. 3 keeper.

Bould's Eyeliner

But he can still only use his feet. Zlatan flipping nonstop.

Hi-brid

Get out while you can, Emiliano.

RoyKeane'sBeard

Not directly related, but for the love of me,I still can’t see why Wenger sold Afobe to Wolves.

Jagger

Why do you say that?

RoyKeane'sBeard

That kid banged in over 30 goals in all competitions for both Mk Dons and later wolves last season.Wenger should’ve atleast given hid a 6 month tryout in the league before shippin him off.

AntiSpud

Premier league is a complete different catle from MK Dons and Wolves. You put Sanogo there he will be doing similar or better and we still think he is not good enough for us eh?

chippy's chip

You never know till you give em a go. Look at m.owen at 17yrs old. And he is a cunt!

Izzymuzzet

Sanogo my arse

Man Manny

Martinez will take over from Cech. Quite a talent. He also appears to be a calm chap.

dr Strange

Don’t worry we’ll turn him into a raving lunatic soon enough.

D

Hehe. One outstanding golden glove season and he’ll be sneaking some Jim Bean into the locker room.

dr Strange

More likely the shower….

texasgooner

My worry is that he won’t be willing to stick around that long as backup. If Cech goes to plan, Martinez will be 26 or 27 before we need a new first choice goalkeeper. If it were me, I wouldn’t want to sit on the bench or go on loan for all that time.

AntiSpud

So the loan book is still out!

Rob

I’m a Wolves fan but Arsenal is my Prem team due to having lived in Finsbury Park for many years. The Afobe decision is baffling to us too especially now he seems to be revelling in a no. 10 role now with a license to roam. I’m sure that we’ll lose him come next season so I sure hope he comes back to you.

Stillmatic

Afobe is definitely a PL-level. Just as it was obvious at MK that he was above League 1, it’s obvious at Wolves he’s above the Championship.

The question is how high of a PL player he is. CL level? Also remember he’s only 2 years older than Akpom (22 years) at a time when he was smashing it more than any of our recent academy strikers at that level.

As for whether his performance at Championship is indicative of PL Level? Well, Coq says don’t completely write him off in that regards.

chippy's chip

I hope he returns with goals aplenty.

chippy's chip

Bit risky. Do we trust the chavski reject/spy?

Izzymuzzet

Hold the press! Sagna has a new hair style.

And it doesn’t look like runny turds!!

Goonerratic

I am more excited about Martinez than I was of Szczesny young days. I believe Martinez can reach current Courtois levels if exposed on top level.

col

Baggies had a perfectly good goal disallowed

Kenny jackets gets teams promoted

Fatgooner

Illogical. One goalkeeper injury could put us in an awkward position.

Ferngunner

Think he should light one in the showers first before moving on loan. Could end up at a CL club

Arshavin

Good luck.

Hope he won’t be another S.Talyor

Double98

A title winning goal keeper?

AntiSpud

I sincerely hope footballers could shut their gob up a bit. One victory and kompany is saying they have a point to prove. It’s only the start of the season! Anything can happen. Before you know it, they are getting beaten by a team that’s about to be relegated! The Twats

izzymuzzet

Or talking about winning the title before a ball has been kicked and then getting hammered by West fucking Ham
