Zola pleased with Pole’s finger-Bielik-ing Brum debut

Things you might not know.

Krystian Bielik is on loan at Birmingham City. Gianfranco Zola is their manager. The latter thinks the former is okay at football.

Bielik – 2017’s Cohen Bramall – joined the Championship side on loan with 15 minutes remaining of the January transfer window remaining and made his debut last night, confusingly playing for the Blues in red.

The Pole started in defence, a position he’s been getting used to at Arsenal since joining from Legia Warsaw, as Birmingham were downed 2-1 by Preston North End.

“In general I would say it was a positive performance from him,” Zola said after the game.

“In the first-half he was suffering a bit. He was a little bit exposed. But second-half he was good, so overall a positive.

“They had big bodies up front and he was given his chance as he has the size and presence to deal with those crosses into the box and those long balls Preston play.

“Also, Krystian has been impressive in training for us and showed his qualities – he deserved an opportunity.”

Glad to hear the lad has got off to a positive start. We wait with baited breath to see if Bielik can build on last night’s promising performance. Last season, Jon Toral made waves on loan at St Andrew’s winning both the fans’ player of the season award and the players’ player of the year gong.

Zola seems like a nice enough bloke, and was a good player, but am I the only one who didn’t really see what all the fuss was about when he was at Chelsea? He was nowhere near the level of Bergkamp or even Juninho at ‘Boro, but the press bang on like he was one of the top five players to have ever played in England. I mean he wouldn’t even make a top ten list of best italian payers form the 90s (some list, mind), let alone the world’s best.

This type of thing may explain why Zola was considered pretty decent.

Yes….I think you are all on your own with that thought…sorry?
Have a great weekend!

Why is he 2017’s Cohen Bramall? I thought Cohen Bramall is 2017’s Cohen Branall.

Has wenger resigned yet?

Andrew_mcl

In an ironic twist of wordplay I think I’d be happy with Arsene Resigning or Re-signing. Anything but this stupid waiting game.

Alex

Resigned or re-signed?

Ive heard its the latter! Shhhh

In a world where football has become all about money and glory hunting, has there been a better manager at identifying talents and nurturing them? Having been a self confessed fan of Mr.Wenger,I know what has happened this season especially has been extremely disappointing and hard to digest. It has come to a point where, whatever I try to say to support Wenger (to even convince myself has started to look a bit silly). We Arsenal fans are not glory hunting. We are frustrated. It has been 13 long years since we won the Premier League. It is natural. I… Read more »

The media is getting to the fans and also this young squad. Integrity and loyalty are rare qualities in the world today. Welcome to the fast food generation! Hopefully the people working at Arsenal read facts and not the metro!

Our Squad isn’t very young

Our midfield is weak at the moment. We need more options. I’m not sure if Bielik will materialise but we do need to find a more ready made player to come in to the squad next season in this positions regardless. Elneny is an average player. Ramsey is insipid at the moment , talent no doubt. Coquelina nd Granit can be solid, they need time, Santi may be good for one more season. Maybe Ox can be re-roled or the Ox but we need a player with more experience and critically bite. When we play Ozil, we need the midfield… Read more »

The first comment on this thread was about how over rated Zola was as a player – so I don’t know what you are moaning about?

Nasris wallet

People reply to comments therefor other comments appear inbetween the original one. It’s really complicated so you will have to concentrate to work it out!
