Bielik still set for loan move…just not at Norwich

According to the Polish media, Krystian Bielik will not be moving to Norwich City on loan this summer.

The Poland under-21 international revealed earlier in the summer that he was in talks with the Canaries about a season-long deal but it appears to have fallen through. The Carrow Road outfit, managed by German Daniel Farke, have instead raided the Bundesliga II for two defenders.

The 19-year-old centre-back has featured regularly for the first team in pre-season, building on his impressive performances for Championship side Birmingham City in the second half of last season.

It is expected that Bielik will still leave Arsenal on loan before the transfer window closes to garner further experience this season.

As things stand the youngster has ten players ahead of him in the centre-back pecking order, including orthodox options Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Gabriel, Shkodran Mustafi, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny while Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac are also capable of playing in the position.

They like their Zs in Poland

A little turnaround. Krystian Bielik will NOT (with 99% probability) join Norwich on loan. Although he will rather not spend this autumn in Arsenal

Polish Gunner

There you go mate: ” Little twist. 99% that Krystian Bielik WON’T be loaned to Norwich. However he is rather not spending this Autumn at Arsenal.” Sorry for any misspelling.

Gooner1886

“Bielik is most likely not going to spend the autumn at arsenal”… is the only part we need to be interested in.

Thanks to my polish pal for the translation haha

“Mohamed Elneny”

Wenger\'s Pony

If we end up selling Chambers, keep Bielik and give him cup games, or at least put a clause that lets us recall. No Elneny playing as CB. -_-

Gooner McGoonFace

Don’t really think we need Bielik this year, but certainly agree w/no El-Neny @ CB!

Kolasinac, mustafi, koscielny, monreal, Gabriel, per and holding. That’s 7 centerbacks for you. Loaning him out won’t hurt us at all. He needs regular football and him spending a season away, to the right club will do him a lot of good.

Michael Bolton Wanderers

That’s five centre backs and two wing/full backs.
If you add chambers, who I hope will stay, then we have six central defender’s.

dennis

See Emi Martinez is off to Getafe for the season. Hope he gets good experience there

arsepedant

He will, their defence is terrible.

Gonzogunner

He’s been impressive for a 19 year old. Hope he can come in and challenge after a good loan spell.

Anonymarse

Seems very promising

Cliff Bastin

Whatever happened to Thomas Eisfeld

Tapps

We sold him to Fulham. It didn’t work out there, so they offloaded him to Bochum. Shame – he looked like he had real potential.

nacho man

he gona b top..not quiet ready yet though
loan move to championship or small team n prem for 1 year ideal

Stayn

El Neny and AMN in front of Bielik on what basis ?

Where is Vlad ‘the impaler’ Dragomir??

” while Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles”

I think blogs may have been getting carries away by the Preseason tour.

They played there because they were on the tour and whilst there, we needed people to play there.

I’m 99.9% certain that if given the choice to play one at CB, Wenger would not choose Maitland-Niles over Bielik.

Trez

Honestly I want him to move back to DM. He’s such a great passer. Don’t know why he was converted to a cb to begin with. With someone like him, we’d have the sort of dm we’ve been crying out for.
Wenger knows best I guess

G4L

That’s the point. Wenger doesn’t always know best. He spent a then record fee on Arshavin and played him out of position for 4 years. Squallichi, Cygan, Sanogo…He doesn’t always get it right.

Faisal Narrage

I do agree with you. He looked amazing and read for the first team as a DM, but took significant steps backwards to be converted into a CB. I know Wenger likes his ball-playing CBs so they can come out with the ball, but in a time when we have 6 legitimate CBs for the immediate and long-term future, and no viable and proper DM back up (Bielik wouldn’t disrupt the passing system that’s built around Xhaka) or little competition, I just don’t see what’s the point. We’ve actually DECREASED his odds of making it by doing so. I know… Read more »

Sean Anderson

He’s a better CB than Mainland Niles think it should have been Niles who was loaned out.

OneBeatOff

Agreed, but Niles is not a CB only deployed there. M. Niles is very versatile player and has a lot of speed which is right up Wenger’s alley … No pun intended.

Ayush Jain

He can be a great CDM, Can built some physique, has pace already and then he can push players like Costa on floor.

Mark

Doubt he will ever become a first team regular. He might make the squad one year soon, but not be a regular. Hopefully he can impress on loan and we can one day make some money back on him.
