Jonker pinches Dutch pal from Arsenal Academy

Former Arsenal Academy head Andries Jonker has once again raided the Emirates, this time to sign head of player development Jan van Loon for new club Wolfsburg.

On taking up his appointment at the Emirates in 2014, Jonker hired both Van Loon and fellow compatriot Frans de Kat having worked with the pair in the Dutch national team setup.

De Kat, who worked with the under-18s at London Colney, returned to work with the KNVB last summer. Van Loon, who has predominantly worked with the under-15s at Hale End, will take up his new role in Germany soon.

Jonker left Arsenal in January to take charge at Wolfsburg. Not long after, Freddie Ljungberg, who at the time was working with Arsenal’s under-21s, joined as his assistant. Most recently young striker Kaylen Hinds moved to the Volkswagen Arena in a £2 million deal.

The Arsenal Academy is currently being run by Luke Hobbs on an interim basis with Per Mertesacker due to take over at the end of next season. The Dutch reshuffle didn’t really go to plan in the end. Let’s hope the BFG has more luck.

Get the Germans in there. They seem to know what they’re doing.

Van Loon and de Kat. Let the puns commence.

Jan van Loon. What a name.

Yankee Gooner

Third Plebeian

Blogs, sorry this is off-topic but how does comment moderation work? I never put anything offensive in my comments (that I’m aware of) yet sometimes have to wait over a day for my comment to show up, yet I’ve seen people rip into each with pretty nasty language and those comments will almost instantly show up (according to the time posted numbers). Not complaining, just would like to know if there’s a particular trigger that flags up potentially offensive posts. By the time some of my comments have shown up (sometimes they never do) the conversation is dead and buried,… Read more »

There are various reasons. You should be ok now.

Ok, thanks ?

Same, if feel a bit of a div when I see someone has made pretty much the same comment as mine while I wait for approval ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I can’t find any reason why your posts go into moderation, sorry about this 🙁

It’s no biggie to be honest blogs 🙂

My posts always go into moderation, please could you look into it? I am not aware of any inappropriate posts that i have written but apologise if there have been…

Same here blogs! I do not understand why it happens at my end also! :/

There’s nothing better than a homegrown player making the grade.
Say what you will about Wilshere but, you’d be lying if you said a part of you isn’t gutted about how it has all worked out for him.

That’s what everyone’s problem is. We’re all frustrated at how his career panned out as he is such a talented player. But, you can’t build a team around him. So he’s a squad player at best. Really hope he can stay fit this year and be an option.

Except…. Except…. Are we? give us a player that is good enough to inspire us to a league and then we’ll be over the moon. But actually, there’s nothing I love more than the international infrastructure that arsenal have built providing a player to amaze us. I don’t care where the man comes from. Just prove your passionate and deliver. Really… In the 21stcebtury we look at the postcode of a man’s hospital of birth? Really? We want football. Sorry for an injury. But not sorry enough to see arsenal stagnate

Laughing Stock

Can’t he take Walcott with him too?

You surely live up to your name

Laughing Stock
