Ozil in for Iwobi: Arsenal v Huddersfield teams

Arsenal take on Huddersfield Town tonight, looking to make it seven wins from seven at the Emirates this season.

Although we have Man Utd on Saturday, Arsene Wenger has picked a strong side.

Here are the official line-ups.

Arsenal: Cech, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac, Alexis, Ozil, Lacazette

Subs: Ospina, Mertesacker, Coquelin, Wilshere, Iwobi, Welbeck, Giroud

Huddersfield: To follow

Going for the jugular

Gooooooooonnnnaaaaaaaaa

I know the most important game is the next game and all, but we could have done 3 changes without significantly weakening the team. BFG could have come into central defence and rested koscienly to prevent his Achilles problem from recurring. Wilshere could have come in in midfield or 1 if those 2 positions behind the striker. Welbeck could have come in anywhere in the front 3, Giroud uptop, elnenny or coquelin in midfield.

No I am all with Wenger for this…let’s give our best and respect each EPL opponent.

Lord Bendnter

Nah, there’ll be plenty of time to rest for Kos and co. They can all sit out the ManUtd game

David C

wow, no changes for Arsenal! Let’s get these 3 points and worry about ManURE after the game.

COYG!!!

Runzac

Did you read the headline?
But anyways – COYG

Goonerink

I guess he means the ozil omission was forced…. Idk clutching at staws

David C

meant no changes from our strongest 11 that will prob start against Man U.

Most of us (Blogs included) assumed some squad rotation.

Apologies for the error 🙂

yen

AÖL together at home. Oh yes!

Goonerink

Strong? That’s our strongest, including the subs bench!

Finlay307

Unless Santi 🙁

Mike Arsenal

Let’s win this.

Russ

Good plan

Red-Wing

I seriously hope that this decision not to rest at least one or two key players (like Koscielny who has proven chronic problems with his achilles) won’t backfire at some point during December.

Also, I felt that this was a perfect match for Wilshere to finally get a start in PL.

Declan M

Full strength & rest a few vs Man u. Like your thinking Arsene.

lessthanthesumoftheirparts

Let’s hope when they see this they Shuddersfield..
am I right..
guys, guys?

TeeSöng

Would’ve thought at least Koz, with a chronic Achilles problem, and Ramsey, who seems to miss a couple of months a season with muscular issues, could have been rotated. Not sure those guys should be playing a lot of games on two days rest.

Jim2wheels

Glad there’s no rotation, rather get 3 points tonight and accept a draw on the weekend than potentially drop points tonight to add more pressure on the United game.

A good run of results and high morale will always better a few days of extra rest.

keneh

let’s do this

ramgooner

I hope Giroud gets a brace if he comes on in the second half. We really need him on form to push on as a squad.

Everesco21

Good call sir

HRM

Happened just exactly as u said it would… U sir are a prophet!

Trez

Massive massive risk Wenger is taking. Can Ramsey and Kos handle playing 3 games in 6 days?? Why isn’t he starting Jack and Danny?? I seriously hope no one gets injured or worse we lose this game.

Clock-End Mike

I guess your friends don’t call you one of life’s bright optimists, then?

I’d rather go with Jim2wheels above, and say let’s get a win over a good Huddersfield side under our belts before we think about the weekend. Maybe we can rest 2 or three players 2nd half and get Welbeck, Giroud and/or Wilshere on the pitch to mop the game up.

The Peter Simpsons

. . . and the minimal casualty list is worthy of note – just Santi (long-term obviously) Alex Iwobi and Theo(?). Clearly changes behind the scenes are taking effect – hopefully this will continue.

Nathan

Zero eyes!

Man Manny

4 point cushion on the “pretenders of North London” is a must tonight, says Arsene by this line up.
Take no thought of Man U yet; Saturday will take care of itself.

Badaab

Picking the strongest starting XI is always a better option than bringing on the big names when we’re in need of a result.

sph

think Wenger is trying to build confidence with his strikers and continuity across his starting eleven. Not sure i love the risk per se, but getting alexis/laca/ozil on same page before Manure isnt terrible. Realistically, if we were playing Champs League this kind of rest wouldnt be out of the ordinary. COYG

Ross

I know there are call to rotate and personally would like to see Wilshire in today but remember most of these players have only been playing one game a week so are not overplayed like other years when full champs league teams etc

Cape Town Gooner

Get in there!

sixteen swans

Arsene is obviously letting us all know that his priority this season is the league – first and foremost. Even against thirteenth-placed Huddersfield he’s taking no chances. And it makes absolute sense. 1. Another game with Alexis, Lacazette, and Ozil. 2. Another game with Mustafi, Koscielny, and Monreal. 3. A home unbeaten run to maintain. All with Saturday’s game in mind. Imagine fielding a less strong side and drawing or (heaven forbid) being beaten. What for Man U at the weekend then? We’re already ahead of Sp*rs and Liverpool. We don’t need to give them any encouragement by not taking… Read more »

Flummoxed

You know what? Fuck NBC and their bullshit “gold package” why’s it always the Arsenal game that’s behind the new pay wall. I only pay for a subscription to a cable service that hosts your network. Tools.

This is how media is going to be in the US going forward thanks to the FCC, be it internet or television.

Richard

Anyone found a link to watch it yet in the US?

sweet lineup we had last time we met them

Paul

have bloggers feelings regarding switches in the line up ever .. no offense.

Andy Mack

Hopefully we can be 4-0 up at half time and some of the bench can get on the pitch early.

Shambles

Can we just give the goal back? It seems to have transformed our team into 10 awkward sanogos

Twatsloch

We are shit! If it weren’t for Huddersfield having a terrible striker…who knows? Fucking hell, Arsenal. Sort this out!

Danaery\'s pet dragon

You were saying ?

Godfrey Twatsloch

They sorted themselves out.

Thierry Bergkamp

I predict 5 nil with 4 second half goals
