Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has shared a video of Alex Lacazette training in the gym without the protective boot he sported yesterday evening after picking up an ankle knock in the Emirates Cup.
The France international had to be subbed off early in the first half on Sunday but did allay fears of a serious problem when he faced reporters on his way out of the ground.
Aubameyang shared a short clip on Instagram in which Laca and Shkodran Mustafi are seen doing an arm workout with those weird ‘battle rope’ things.

It remains to be seen whether Emery, who also said the injury wasn’t serious in his post-game press conference, takes the striker to France for Wednesday’s clash with Angers. If there is any doubt at all about his fitness, you’d imagine he’ll be rested.
Arsenal’s first game of the new Premier League season is against Newcastle in 14 days time.
We’re gonna need him this season..hope hes fit and ready to go
Yes, our problem will be scoring enough goals to compensate for those that we’re sure to concede with some of our defenders.
Wow, you must be that guy SANTORI in disguise.
Or the reincarnation of the FatGooner himself!
Give it a break.
Really? You mean our defense aren’t that great? I, like everyone else in this community, hadn’t noticed. Thanks for pointing that out for me. A real original point.
Santori is here. No need for disguises. I speak fairly, I’m sure many others feel somewhat similar to me. I don’t have the habit (Unlike some people) of falling into the media line or lazy thinking which ends up with simplistic scape goating of certain players, ignoring the overall issues and distracting from the real problems. I don’t fall for those traps. Mustafi isn’t the best defender by a mile but he isn’t as poor as most prefer to make him out to be. Nor is Torreira as solid as some would deem to suggest. But what is the real… Read more »
But what about the handbrake?
It’s broken. Braken?
Yeah but Mustafi is shit.
I know how these arseblog posts work…
True. There’s nothing wrong in stating the obvious.
There’s nothing wrong in having a more nuanced view that presents the whole picture either.
Mustafi was not there when we lost 3 goals to Wolves or 4 to Chelsea in the finals.
So what was the reason? You will shift your criticism to Granit or Ozil I suppose.
Sokratis and Chambers were both poorly positioned to defend against Lyon’s first goal. We had 4 in the box none picked up Dembele.
How’s that for stating the obvious?
He’s not shit – he’s just not good enough right now to play for Arsenal at the level that is required. All of us should remind ourselves now and again that our players read what’s written about them and even throwaway comments can fuck up their confidence even more.
He has become the focus for a lot of frustration, not without reason, but I assume we do still have defensive coaches somewhere. The flaws in his game aren’t so bad or frequent that they can’t be addressed. I’d prefer to see him fixed than binned. That being said, if we get Rugani on loan for the season I’ll be delighted.
John Terry is a cunt.
That’s true – and is the exception to my argument.
We look much better with one striker. If Pepe joins we should play Nelson-Auba-Pepe and Laca from the bench.
Just the opposite imo.
Laca was exceptional in the US as a creator.
What if – we’d try him a little bit behind Auba and Pepe in a 3-4-3 formation?!
Lightening fast attacks but also a five man (stable) defence with Kolasinac, Bellerin as wingbacks…
Many people disagree with you because they love Lacazette as I do, but you have right we look better with one striker and 2 wingers
Aubameyang at left wing, Laca in the middle, Pepe on the right is my incredibly unique insight here.
Laca is too good to be anybody’s bench player.
Tanks André Santos, I now understand why Deschamps doesn’t select him. Too good for the bench.
Laca a bit behind might be a thing. He’s a big man, and even though the “Target Man” has gone out of style, it would make a lot of sense. Or, you know, all our great players are offensive players, and we need to fit them in somewhere 🙂 Perhaps the cure for all our defensive woes could be to play without any…
You think Laca is a big man? Clearly you’ve seen more of him than I have!
A big (long)name maybe. ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE.
Damn, Auba would still beat him.
Laca is 1.75m tall.. Hardly the imposing target man! He is however fantastic with the ball at his feet and has great vision.
Laca/auba/pepe (no particular order) in a fluent front 3 could be devastating.
Wait so we have probably one of the best strike partnerships today, a pretty much full on bromance who score goals for fun, and you want to break them up? Right..
Man found dead at Elneny house (not him).
Yeah! Tried to steal the electrical wiring but wasn’t bright enough to turn off the power first and electrocuted himself!
Darwinian philosophy proven correct again!
His property in Egypt, yes. And nothing to note about it. Case appears closed – it was a thief who apparently got electrocuted.
Man found irrelevant in protective boot story.
R.I.C.E.
Rest, ice, compression, elevation.
Components to keeping an ankle sprain’s effect to a minimum.
Seems a boot is the best compression technique.
Good for Laca. Good for us.
Will it work for me?
So, what are those rope exercises for? Arm/shoulder strength? (Not obvious why that would be part of a football workout.)
What you want is that explosive forearm strength for sneaky swipes to the balls of defenders during corners.
Those are high intensity stuff.. so should help with conditioning at least.
though it depends on the rope weight and swinging speed, of course.
I heard rumours of plans to replace the penalty shootout with a tug of war
Lacazette Aubameyang
Everton Ceballos Torriera Pepe
Tierney Pape cisse Holding Bellerin
Leno
Subs- Martinez, sokratis, kolasinac, ozil,Guendouzi, maitland Niles, saka, iwobi, willock, nketiah(match day squad reserves to choose from)
Monreal(should be the new koscielny..only play once in a while)…chambers should only enter match day squad when we are short of defenders
Mkhitaryan(sold)
Mustafi(sold)
El nenny(sold)
Jenkinson(sold)
Mavrapanos(loan)
Smith Rowe(loan)
Xhaka(sold)
Nelson(loan to a premiership side this time)
This is my solid detailed and well prepared view and opinion…what do you guys think?..I’m definitely open to criticisms…just want you guys honest opinions over this
Thank you
Victoria Concordia Crescit!!!
1) Dreaming. We won’t get two wingers. Its either or. 2) Torreira if you noticed has not been preferred over Granit in deep role and that’s for a reason. Maybe this season he will step up more but he wasn’t the full answer last season. 3) We will rotate players into different formations therefore there is no definitive starters. We need variation. 4) We will likely NOT get Tierney if we want a new Cback. Emery if you noticed spells out clearly midfield, winger and Cback. 5) I think unless we get someone of the level of Umtiti, Sokratis is… Read more »
I would add on Chambers you also have to consider the aspirations of the players. If he gets a good offer, he may likely go bc at 24yrs + he wants to feature regularly now. So you may think we should use him as reserve only but he may beg to differ. That goes for Bielik. Although in Bielik’s case he is still amazingly only 21yrs and on contract so we could attempt to hold him one more season on loan if we do not think an offer is strong enough. BUT with Mavropanos and Bielik perculating, you again do… Read more »
Re: Mayor McCheese’s comment above
I’ll give you ‘detailed’ to be fair.
FIFA is more fun when you pick a League 2 team.
You would struggle to sell those 5 even on Fifa
Its amazing how quickly our game unravels once something goes wrong be it a dodgy red card or a top asset getting injured or an unlucky goal conceded at the wrong time. Suddenly we look shaky at the back and bereft of ideas going forward. Concentration is one aspect but maybe also leadership to steady the ship. I’m not sure I prefer Laca as a captain bc generally you would prefer someone closer to the backline who can see the play ahead to help organise particularly during defensive phases of the game or in transition. I think Sokratis (if he… Read more »
A welcome relief. Rest his ankle, get his conditioning up, and make sure he’s 100% for the real matches.
https://www.arsenal.com/news/emery-responds-transfer-speculation As he mentions (Unai) : One winger, one midfield, one cback We have the midfield (temporary albeit) – Cebellos We prob have the winger – Pepe So unless Saliba is it (which I hope not), we may have a Cback. No Lback. As I mentioned, if Koscielny is doing us a favour (too many people quick to judge and cast blame), it means the club needs a better solution than Saliba (distraction) and Koscielny one more season. It is an either or IMO and Cback is now likely priority bc of Koscielny so no Tierney. We need to put… Read more »
Just rest him up for the friendly and get him ready for the first game of the season.
£25 Mill AND a protective boot Celtic??
I know this is off topic but has anyone else seen the Mustafi to Monaco rumour? €30 million…
Sounds totally unrealistic to me but if it’s true this would be my favourite transfer window ever.
Then I’ll wake up and we’ll have given him a contract extension and re-signed Yaya Sanogo.
Ings from Liverpool to Southampton for 20 mil, never forget haha
